Liverpudlians

Would I be wrong in saying that people from Liverpool must be the friendliest people in the country?

I've spent the last few days up there and everyone was so kind and lovely. I live in the East Midlands and I think people here are nice, but Liverpool takes it up to another level!

I found myself looking on rightmove before heading back home as I couldn't bear to leave!

What a lovely place!

Oh bless you OP. What a nice thing to say 😊

ChicCroissant · 17/10/2019 18:52

We will talk to everyone Grin I live elsewhere now and miss that element of life there.

StarlitTrees · 17/10/2019 18:54

I couldn't understand a word they were saying though! 🙈 So to be fair they could have been being horrible to me but with a smile on their face!
But I still enjoyed myself! 😂

Yeah we're alright! We have recently been awarded the title of chattiest people! I don't live in Liverpool anymore and I sometimes miss how friendly people can be. I live in the Lakes and Cumbrians can take a bit to warm to you, even though they're lovely.

StarlitTrees · 17/10/2019 18:55

My husband had to keep hanging around for me as I kept getting into conversation with shop assistants and took ages in shops but people were just genuinely warm and nice, it put me in such a lovely mood.

Glaswegians are the same!

Themyscira · 17/10/2019 19:10

Liverpool is a great city. I like it there, too!

HollowTalk · 17/10/2019 19:13

I agree - I really struggle when I go to London and try to make small talk with everyone there Grin

katielilly · 17/10/2019 19:18

I agree and I would also say Geordies are very similar people to Liverpudlians.

Cassimin · 17/10/2019 19:18

I wouldn’t live anywhere else.
You’ve got everything, countryside, beaches, free museums, great nightlife, wonderful restaurants.
We truly are “the world in one city”
It wasn’t until my children went to uni that they realised how lucky they were.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people who come here for university never leave.

StripyTShirt · 17/10/2019 19:26

Aww thanks 😊
I love being from and living here!
Even in my line of work (social worker Confused) I get offered cuppas all the time and have a right laugh with people!
Hope you come back soon Thanks

EssentialHummus · 17/10/2019 19:32

Oh lord the accents! I could listen to them all day. If I ever find myself single again I know where I'm headed Grin.

Zoflorabore · 17/10/2019 19:36

Hi op, I’m from Liverpool and love living here :) I agree that we are very friendly... my accent isn’t that strong I think, my ds says I sound “posh scouse” haha and I’ve recently been talking to someone I met on Twitter from the US who said he could listen to me talk all day Grin

Kleptronic · 17/10/2019 19:40

As an introvert Scouser (yes, honestly, there is at least one) I find it a bit trying sometimes. But then I do miss it when I go away. Contrary and curmudgeonly I am.

GuessWhoColeen · 17/10/2019 19:41

Cheers Wine

iklboo · 17/10/2019 19:45

I'm a woollyback (Manc) but I agree. Scousers are great.

TheCaddyisaBaddie · 17/10/2019 19:46

Yep, we certainly know how to chat Grin Liverpool like alot of cities has such a diverse population but we are all keen to learn about each others heritage which I think makes us friendly.

Mner2019 · 17/10/2019 19:46

I lived there for 10 years and miss it so much. Met my now (southern) DH there and had DS whilst we were there so we are the very proud parents of a Liverpudlian!

Bezalelle · 17/10/2019 19:50

Liverpool's ace! I'm proud to come from here and live here.

Jabee · 17/10/2019 19:54

Thank you for saying this OP. So pleased you felt welcomed.

StarlitTrees · 17/10/2019 19:57

Absolutely agree with the poster who commented on the amount of things to do there. There really was everything we could need/want. We did so much!
Think we will go back for a few days without the kids next time too!

Also, I forget how big the seagulls by the sea are! Our softie seagulls from the Midlands would be eaten alive by them!

Oh and to see "bacon barm" on the menu made me smile. The only time I ever hear the word barm is on Corrie!

Livpool · 17/10/2019 20:26

Aww thanks!

I think we are a friendly city - my office gets lots of visitors from around the country and they always say how nice it is.

Don't worry OP - I am Liverpool born and bred and can't understand some Scousers!! I just smile and nod 😂

TenPenceMix · 17/10/2019 20:36

That's lovely- as a scouser myself I was scared to open this thread!

Timeywimey10 · 17/10/2019 20:52

It's very true, they are lovely.

ComeOnGordon · 17/10/2019 20:56

I moved there as a young adult & lived/worked there for over 10 years and it feels more like home than my proper home does. Sometimes now if I hear a scouse accent on the radio it can make me well up. I miss it so much.

Now living in a part of the world with the least friendliest people - makes my heart soar to go back to Liverpool 💖
