a daughter really big for her age

HAPPYMOM363 · 09/10/2019 12:22

She is only 11 and 176cm and 84kg. I am only 155cm and 45kg. It looks really oddSmile She plays basketball and netball and does really well.

It's impossible to find age appropriate cloths.

She used to hate being this big but now she loves it. Would she stop growing or grow up a few more inches??Grin

Cool story bro

Grimbles · 10/10/2019 19:06

Must have really high ceilings too...

Nikhedonia · 10/10/2019 19:08

@hobnobsaremyfave my thoughts exactly.

Hmm
MrsGrindah · 10/10/2019 19:13

What does BAM mean?

Perunatop · 10/10/2019 19:13

There is no way 84kg can be a healthy weight for an 11 year old girl.

ComeOnGordon · 10/10/2019 19:17

Get your daughter checked by an endocrinologist. I have an equally tall daughter but she was 12 1/2 before she reached that height & then didnt grow anymore & was probably 60kg at the time.

My son also grew very quickly at 11 & 12 & it was so reassuring to get him checked out to make sure there were no hormonal problems going on.

ComeOnGordon · 10/10/2019 19:19

Oh and my daughters period had started a month before she turned 12 so I knew she wouldn’t grow much more and she didnt

WaterSheep · 10/10/2019 19:20

The more the OP posts the less believable this sounds.

ClientListQueen · 10/10/2019 19:21

@Teateaandmoretea - I'm broad, and I can carry a lot of weight. 14 1/2 - 15 stone and I'm a 14 bottom, 16 top and wear a 32K bra

QueenofPain · 10/10/2019 19:26

Can you focus on the fact that she’s strong and healthy and loves sports and let her body sort itself out?

Please don’t start putting ideas in her head about being too big or fat or heavy or large. You will do her more damage than you’ll ever do her good.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/10/2019 19:30

Chinny reckon...

BravoStrong · 11/10/2019 09:36

@hobnobsaremyfave yep I’m starting to this this too....

HAPPYMOM363 · 11/10/2019 10:08

It's really ridiculous when people think that it is made up.

OP posts:
hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/10/2019 10:22

No idea why people would tho k this is made up
No
No
No
No
No
What on earth could possibly make this whole story even the tiny teeniest bit unbelievable

Loopydizzylove · 11/10/2019 10:29

Some of these comments are just plain vile!!!
Let's hope ops dd doesn't accidentally check her dms account on here Hmm
We have an 11 year old girl who's 'bmi' is higher than the norm. The way a lot of people on here are commenting you would think she sits on her backside all the time wading through junk food... SHE'S NOT!
She is as op said - very active, does not eat a lot of fat and generally eats high protein food, which in itself is good for muscle gain.
At 11, she could be - as lots of girls, including myself- putting on weight as she draws nearer to puberty, ready for a growth spurt so to speak.
Without seeing her, I'm sorry but most of there opinions are invalid,
Op your daughter sounds amazing as I mentioned previously, as long as she is staying active and eating right I'm sure she will be just fine. But obviously if you're concerned then speak to your gp Smile

HAPPYMOM363 · 11/10/2019 15:06

Yeah. I am taking her to doctor tomorrow. Please pray that she has no medical issues

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 11/10/2019 15:11

Will do.

MartineDubreuil · 11/10/2019 15:20

Good luck at the docs

Reallybadidea · 11/10/2019 15:52

Gosh, lucky to be able to get an appointment at such short notice. And on a Saturday too - amazing!

HAPPYMOM363 · 11/10/2019 16:13

I am not from uk.

PinkDaffodil2 · 11/10/2019 17:51

I hope things go well with the doctor - do insist on a specialist referral for her height, a GP probably won’t be able to access the specialist tests to rule out an endocrine cause, as her height is so much taller than over 99.6% of her peers she very easily meets NHS referral guidelines.

Cmagic7 · 11/10/2019 18:03

Well since she's getting into sports, perhaps research the diet of some professional athletes and persuade her that if she eats like them, she will be even better!

JockTamsonsBairns · 11/10/2019 20:00

I'm not really understanding the thing about muscle mass. My dd is just turned 11, is 140cm and weighs 29kg. She does 5 dance classes a week - street, acro, modern, tap and ballet (all just for fun) and does elite squad gymnastics - four hours a week training during term time, many more hours in school holidays. Why wouldn't she weigh more due to muscle mass? She's just starting puberty, but no periods yet.

Pipandmum · 11/10/2019 20:37

I’ve only read the first couple pages but I think people need to relax a bit! I was your daughters height at her age. I’m now 180cm and my best weight is 75kg (uk size 12-14), at 11 I didn’t weigh as much but I was not an athlete. I just checked a height weight chart and she is over in to the overweight section BUT as any athlete will tell you they weigh a lot more than a civilian of same height. But you seem to be concerned about her weight as you keep mentioning that you’ve talked to her about it. Does she look overweight? Is she wearing larger than size 14/16? My daughter is 165cm age 14 and wears a size 12-14 and she’s slim (34-26-36 at a guess). She hasn’t grown since she was 12. If she is able to do flips and performs well what is the concern? And I’d ignore BMI - it is not a good measure in regards to fit muscular people.
As for shopping my daughter gets half her clothes from Tesco/Sainsbury and some from Joules and Next. Yes she is in adult sizes but she looks totally appropriate (and would suit an 11 year old - if it’s jeggings and t shirts/sweaters and hoodies...).
Your daughter is as tall as the average adult male. You cannot go by conventional measures. If she is fit, happy and eating healthily then she’s doing great.
