SPOILER ALERT

ET: The bathroom scene, where ET and Elliot are on the floor and Elliot gets taken away, with ET screaming for him to come back 😢😢 And of course when ET is found all grey and dying in the water, then when he temporarily dies and obviously the ending 😭

Forest Gump: When nobody lets young Forest sit down on the bus and then he sees Jenny for the first time 😥 When Jenny dies "Every night we read a book and he's so smart Jenny. You'd be so proud of him" 😭😭😭

Atonement: The ending, when Bryony explains the reality 😢

Theory of Everything: The croquet scene. There's no dialogue, but it's heart breaking. When Stephen has had his operation and can no longer talk. The look they give one another 💔 Also when Jane breaks up with Stephen "I have loved you. I did my best" and he just looks broken and they cry together 😢

The Reader: When Michael sees Hannah in court and realises she's actually illiterate after she refuses to give a sample of her hand writing and then her sentence. When Hannah hears Michael's voice on the recorder and of course the ending 😭😭😭

I have so many more, including Disney and Pixar Blush but I'd be here all day!

Over to you...

The Bradford City fire documentary . The man who was saying about being alone on the pitch and just wanted to find his nan. Another who had to leave his dad but managed to find someone to help him. Except when he turned around realised it was to late.

I went to see a play about the bradford fire which had people doing monologues from survivors. It was so powerful and you could tell that everyone in the audience was really feeling it. Not a dry eye in the house.i also cried at the big memorial service for it. I'm not originally from bradford but many of my friends and colleagues were affected by the fire.

Well we've just both sat and cried at Bohemian Rhapsody and Freddie at Live Aid.

SunflowerSuit · 06/10/2019 23:56

"Oh god yes the duchess baby scene. That was our first night out after having dd2 we were both in tears!"

I cried so much at this scene that my husband, who was upstairs, somehow managed to convince himself that I was having an affair and was upset because he thought I was on the phone crying to my lover 🤣

ittooshallpass · 07/10/2019 00:21

When the grandma died in Moana Blush

elaine26 · 07/10/2019 00:41

I cry at most. The impossible turned me to mush, when the family were reunited. Tyler's sexual assault in 13 reasons why and when he finally told clay what happened and the dance floor scene in 13 reasons.

neonglow · 07/10/2019 00:48

The end scene of ‘riding in cars with boys’ where drew barrymore is in the car with her dad, I don’t know why but it gets me more than anything else!

TheOriginalNutty · 07/10/2019 00:48

Greys Anatomy when Denny dies

Last ever episode of Big Bang Theory

The Green Mile

E.T

A Star Is Born

hazandduck · 07/10/2019 12:18

@mateysmum aw Rodney’s wedding, Holding Back The Years and Del is just clutching the little groom off the cake 😭

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 07/10/2019 13:11

Last few minutes of Sister Monica Joan's birthday in Call the Midwife. So weepy.

LittleAndOften · 07/10/2019 13:12

When Shelby dies in Steel Magnolias 😭😭😭

MinesaPinot · 07/10/2019 13:50

Mine are:

'Daddy, my Daddy' from the Railway Children

Schindlers List, particularly the end

The scene in Frankenstein where Richard Briers as the blind man is running his hands over the creature's face and says 'you poor soul, what have they done to you'

ET - when ET's flower dies

The Queen of Sheba episode from The Royale Family.

The end of the last Blackadder

Sleepless in Seattle - the end when they meet at the top of the Empire State and that lovely music plays

The Green Mile. I read the book on a very wet day when I was on holiday one year - I sobbed, proper ugly sobs - and the film got me as well.

I'm filling up......

CaveMum · 07/10/2019 13:52

West Wing - when Mrs Landingham talks about her twin sons killed in Vietnam.

Brefugee · 07/10/2019 13:56

ah the usuals:
Who Will Love My Children / Terms of Endearment / The Champ
but also The Bridge to Terebithia - was NOT expecting that

Zathura when you realise who the astronaut is

Sybil in DA and the last scene of Blackadder goes Fourth (I had the impression that the entire 4 series of that were just leading up to that one point to catch you out)

Shed a tear in the Downton Abbey film at the end with Mary and the Dowager too (what can I say, I'm a soft lass)

What's the film about the spaceships with the forests and there are 3 little droid/robot things that water them and one gets sucked into space? Yeah. That.

OH! Finding Neverland. Never ever ever watching that again.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 07/10/2019 13:57

The ending of the Notebook. Watched it one night on my own and when my husband came home he thought there had been a death in the family I was so upset.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 07/10/2019 21:42

The last scene of the very last episode of Quantum Leap when Sam sacrifices his opportunity to leap home so that he can tell Al's wife not to give up hope of Al returning home from war.

"Just call me Jim" and "Jim...it's really you" from Ghost Whisperer.

Any episode of Long Lost Family.

tiajon · 07/10/2019 22:00

The Land Before Time. When his mum dies. And later when he sees his shadow and thinks it's his mum. 30 years on and that still gets me!

tiajon · 07/10/2019 22:02

@MySonIsAlsoNamedBort the elephant man - yes!

I saw this as a very young child and felt an almost physical pain from sadness, knowing it was based on a true story.

DamonSalvatoresDinner · 07/10/2019 22:24

@MyCatHatesEverybody Oh my! I completely forgot the last episode of Quantum Leap!

I have one that's a bit out there but Farscape's last episode had me bawling thinking John Crichton was finished. A stupid tv show but I loved it for some reason.

And while I'm on sci-fi, losing Wash in Firefly/Serenity.
I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I s....."

tiajon · 12/10/2019 12:52

I watched the opening scenes from Up on this thread's recommendation, and was sobbing like a baby

Skinnychip · 12/10/2019 13:11

If no ones mentioned it yet... the garbage incineration scene in toy story 3.

Omg the first time i saw this with my kids (they were about 3 and 6) i was booing and i kept having to remind myself "its disney, they'll be a sequel" the kids were not in any way upset! 😂
I cry my eyes out at children in need etc and there was a lot of tears watching sink or swim for stand up to cancer, both the actual programme and the "stories".

Frogshoe · 12/10/2019 13:17

The boy whose skin fell off, ch4 documentary. All of it! 😭😭😭

thenightsky · 12/10/2019 13:55

Coronation Street episode where Aiden commits suicide and Johnny finds the note that says 'don't go into the bathroom', but he goes into the bathroom Sad

Deathraystare · 12/10/2019 14:29

The Incredibla Journey - the bit at the end when the dogs and cat are re-united with the family. The boy is saying about the old dog (I am tearing up as I write this Fuck Sake!!!) "it is ok he is an old dog, he wouldn't have made it".

I hate you! I am in tears here!!!!

PhantomErik · 12/10/2019 16:22

At the end of The Martian when Watney is in the Mav & about to leave Mars & they're doing the last minute confirmations & its 'Pilot' & he says 'Go'.

He looks genuinely terrified!

Schwibble · 12/10/2019 16:29

The ending of Road To Perdition - the music, staring out to sea..."He was my father".

Beaches - in a wheelchair, on the beach, with a beautiful sunset and horses running on the sand.
