SPOILER ALERT

ET: The bathroom scene, where ET and Elliot are on the floor and Elliot gets taken away, with ET screaming for him to come back 😢😢 And of course when ET is found all grey and dying in the water, then when he temporarily dies and obviously the ending 😭

Forest Gump: When nobody lets young Forest sit down on the bus and then he sees Jenny for the first time 😥 When Jenny dies "Every night we read a book and he's so smart Jenny. You'd be so proud of him" 😭😭😭

Atonement: The ending, when Bryony explains the reality 😢

Theory of Everything: The croquet scene. There's no dialogue, but it's heart breaking. When Stephen has had his operation and can no longer talk. The look they give one another 💔 Also when Jane breaks up with Stephen "I have loved you. I did my best" and he just looks broken and they cry together 😢

The Reader: When Michael sees Hannah in court and realises she's actually illiterate after she refuses to give a sample of her hand writing and then her sentence. When Hannah hears Michael's voice on the recorder and of course the ending 😭😭😭

I have so many more, including Disney and Pixar Blush but I'd be here all day!

Over to you...

Opie volunteering to fight knowing full well that he will die in Sons of Anarchy- still traumatised by that.

Maidsamilking · 12/10/2019 16:45

Bing bong in Inside Out. "Take her to the moon for me"

frugalkitty · 12/10/2019 17:00

I've just rewatched Downton and when Sybil died in childbirth I cried buckets (again, I did when it was on TV the first time).

'Daddy, my Daddy' from The Railway Children gets me every time.

I well up whenever I read 'Charlotte died' in Charlotte's Web.

CathyorClaire · 12/10/2019 17:14

Bambi calling for his mum.

The ending to Ashes To Ashes.

8stoneloser · 12/10/2019 17:25

Nobody has mentioned Me Before You when he tells her he's going to Switzerland anyway. I cry until the end when she's reading his letter in Place Dauphine Sad

It’s stupid but the Christmas advert Sainsbury’s did a few years ago, Christmas in a Day

When the kids are singing rudolf the red nose reindeer and their dad comes through the door from the army and they all thought he was still away and fling themselves on him screaming ‘daddy’

And I’m welling up.

threeicklepickles · 12/10/2019 17:50

The ending of I, Daniel Blake and Dr Greene in ER.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 12/10/2019 23:00

I'm watching This is Us.
Jacks death is definitely supposed to be on this list.

WindFlower92 · 13/10/2019 00:39

The Vincent Van Gogh museum scene in Doctor Who! Perfect music, voiceover and acting. Beautiful Sad

Autumnchill · 13/10/2019 07:01

Well I just cried at the final Big Bang Theory when Sheldon is making his speech 😭

Daffodil2018 · 13/10/2019 08:02

The last five minutes of any episode of DIY SOS is guaranteed to make me weep.

GeriAtric · 13/10/2019 09:13

Wonder, where the boy asks his mum "why am I so ugly?". Utterly, utterly heartbreaking.

AmIChangingagain · 13/10/2019 09:31

A recent one from BBC's fab comedy Ghosts

Pat meets his new grandson. An unexpected tear jerker sandwiched between funny

Livingwiththefairies · 13/10/2019 09:53

Haven't read the over 400 replies, but the moment in Philomena that she learns her long lost son is dead.

RJnomore1 · 13/10/2019 09:56

The ending of my own private Idaho when they steal his boots

Butterfly005 · 13/10/2019 11:28

Really good thread - I agree with loads of these and the ones I haven't seen I might check out now!

Lynca · 13/10/2019 21:12

In Criminal Minds when Hotch's wife was murdered. "You hug me too tight!" knowing she knows she's hugging her son for the very last time 😭

Whenever I need a good cry I put that scene on!

VelociraptorRex · 13/10/2019 21:19

I absolutely sobbed my heart out last night at Mortal Engines, when the scary man/robot was remembering his life and the baby picture... I had to leave DP to watch it on his own and just went upstairs to cry my eyes out and wonder what on earth is wrong with me Blush

sqirrelfriends · 13/10/2019 21:39

Sorry for spoiler but some of the scenes in handmaids tale really got me. Especially in season 2 when June managed to see her daughter in that house in the middle of nowhere. Hannah was so angry she didn't try harder to keep her and then got whisked off by the Martha. I ugly cried but was pregnant at the time (that's my excuse anyway).

Also in the last episode of season 3 where the little girl was reunited with her dad.

sqirrelfriends · 13/10/2019 21:41

Oh, and the opening scene in Up. I've watched that film many times but it always makes me tear up.

Msgiggles30 · 13/10/2019 21:49

A little princess - when she is told her dad has died and is screaming for her papa when everything has been taken away and how cruel they are to the servant girl.

Also green mile

Heartofglass12345 · 24/10/2019 11:37

I came back to say the ending of MASK. Brilliant film!

Blobby10 · 24/10/2019 12:24

I sobbed buckets at the first Mamma Mia film where Donna was helping Sophie get ready for her wedding singing "Slipping Through my Fingers". Still gets me welling up even when I hear the song on the radio.,

Then in the second MM film the final scenes where young Donna and Sophie and spirit Donna do "My Love, My Life" and the earlier one where Sophie sings "I've Been Waiting For You". Both had me sobbing in the cinema and both times I've watched the DVD since then!

They just click with how I feel about my now adult children Blush Smile

Tumbleweed101 · 24/10/2019 12:28

The end of ‘Benjamin Button’.
Disney - ‘Inside out’ and parts of ‘Maleficent’.

My daughter always cried at the end of Homeward Bound when she was little without fail.
