What did you get for your 30th?

DH has said he doesn't know what to get me and I feel like I should be asking for something special. I'm pretty sure my parents have got us a night away already so am wondering what others got, not neccesarily what you think I should ask for.

I went away for the evening with dp, I paid for the night he paid for dinner & drinks. I loved it

elliejjtiny · 28/09/2019 16:57

We took the dc to the park and then went out for a meal. Can't remember what presents I got.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2019 17:08

Panasonic breadmaker. Love it.

Got a pink sapphire ring for my next birthday 🤷🏻‍♀️

cultkid · 28/09/2019 17:13

I will probably ask for a coloured ring for my 30th
Some good presents I've gotten are

Rolex
Kitchen aid mixer
Diamond earrings
Handbag

allabouteve1 · 28/09/2019 17:15

We went away for a few days with out any kids though I was pregnant. DH planned it all and surprised me with the tickets on my birthday. It was great.

Zoflorabore · 28/09/2019 17:16

GHD’s
Lots of money
Perfume
A midget fireman stripper Blush

AmIAWeed · 28/09/2019 17:17

Got a Rolex but it was hedious and I made him return it as I'd never wear it, total waste of money.
Unfortunately I upset him so much that I didn't get another present!!! Seriously though, I couldn't justify the cost of keeping something I disliked.

Far better to get a gift you love than a status symbol

raspberryk · 28/09/2019 17:17

I was single at my 30th, I got myself a pair of irregular choice shoes and a spa weekend with my oldest friend. My dad got me a pair of white gold teardrop earrings, he'd got me a diamond watch for my 21st.

PapaStinky · 28/09/2019 17:18

A digital piano, still going strong 14 years later. Great gift that has given me hours of pleasure.

WeMarchOn · 28/09/2019 17:19

Tickets to see Jason Manford but i ordered them myself 🤦🏻‍♀️
My husband got a surprise trip to British Grand Prix for his 40th

cultkid · 28/09/2019 17:21

@AmIAWeed I really hope you weren't making a comment about me having a status symbol
I got the watch because I wanted one and my mum has one ...
I've had mine for 4 years now and I love it

80sMum · 28/09/2019 17:21

My 30th was rather a long time ago - but I do remember what I did that day.
DH and I stopped off for lunch at a chain restaurant of my choice (it was called Red Lobster) on the way home from my finishing work at DDs nursery that morning.

After lunch we went back home. I think I probably had a card from my parents, but that was all.

Benes · 28/09/2019 17:23

Nothing....my ex husband promised to spend his bonus on a holiday of my choising but he changed his mind and spent it on a car that I wasn't allowed to drive.

We split up a year later.

I like getting trips away or experiences as they feel very celebratory

1066vegan · 28/09/2019 17:27

Can't remember but nothing special. I've never thought of 30 as being a particularly significant birthday.

Each2TheirOwn · 28/09/2019 17:30

I was single on my 30th, went to India with a friend. Got lots of spending money from family for my birthday x

Cuppa12345 · 28/09/2019 17:30

My husbands family went in and got me an original bit of art. Love it.

SimonJT · 28/09/2019 17:31

I bought myself a civic type r, it’s beautiful.

hazandduck · 28/09/2019 17:31

DH got me a big bottle of Chanel No 5, some books I wanted, a lovely picnic basket and a weekend in Bath with he and our 1 year old, but he’d arranged for me to go and have a lovely massage at the spa when we got there and for chocolates and flowers to be in the room. It really was so lovely and special.

My family and closest friends also organised a surprise trip to Vienna for a weekend, it was amazing.

That was my last birthday. I am fully expecting 31 to be a much more low-key affair!

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 28/09/2019 17:32

A very early edition of my favourite book. (Not first edition as that would be ££££££££) but still very cool & thoughtful.
And we went to the Dominican Republic.

cultkid · 28/09/2019 17:32

@hazandduck love the picnic basket that's a great present

hidinginthenightgarden · 28/09/2019 17:32

raspberryk I have told DH that if he is struggling I want some irregular choice shoes already. He isn't keen!

It is beautiful @cultkid and we have used it so much this summer! My daughter always asks to go on picnics now!

bellsbuss · 28/09/2019 17:35

I had a Rolex, it was pre owned but I didn't care as it was and still is a beautiful watch.

Roozy123 · 28/09/2019 17:35

I got a hair dryer and a watch I wanted from my OH. He also decorated and got a cake etc. Lovely meal.

My parents gave me a card I watched them write out 2 days later.
Thank God for my oh 😐😂😂

I hope you enjoy your bday what ever you get or do. X

Pipandmum · 28/09/2019 17:37

I wasn’t married at 30 but my future husband got me my first mobile phone at 40. And yes it was this century.
