What did you get for your 30th?

DH has said he doesn't know what to get me and I feel like I should be asking for something special. I'm pretty sure my parents have got us a night away already so am wondering what others got, not neccesarily what you think I should ask for.

Nothing, I was a single mum with a 7 month old baby trying to do up a dilapidated house with no bathroom or kitchen. Is 30 a big birthday?

Ginfordinner · 29/09/2019 18:28

No idea. 30 years ago being 30 wasn't a milestone birthday (I'm 60).

I've asked for a handbag for mine. And one of those things that the clothes peg sit in and it clips on the washing line. And some more zoflora.

Pneumonia
Got myself very run down after birth of third child with special needs

My best friend bought me a diamond ring, that I'd had my eye on for months. (Not an engagement ring)

A trip to New York.

However 911 happened a few weeks later so although we still went it was a very different experience to what I'd expected.

I'd love to go back.

Mine was in 1987. I wouldn't have considered it a special birthday so nothing special.

We had no cash left over at the end of the month and very little in the bank so it would have been something like chocs and bottle of wine or maybe a cd. I would have had a card from mum and dad and my sisters. The DC would have made homemade cards and I probably still have those.

Ours was a fairly new relationship when I turned 30 so do didn't get me anything big. He rented a Mini Cooper for the weekend and we went to York for a daytrip. We climbed the Minster tower and kissed at the top 😍
We have 2dc now and are very skint so for dh's 40th last year (almost 10 years later) we had cake and did very little else!

Money from my family (which I had to spend on the kids) and nothing from my idiot ex except grief 😂. I haven’t celebrated my birthday since.

@Ginfordinner my mum is nearly 60 and I remember her 30th, my dad got embarrassing signs put around the town! It's the only birthday of hers I remember my dad making a big deal of (and her 40th).
