What did you get for your 30th?

DH has said he doesn't know what to get me and I feel like I should be asking for something special. I'm pretty sure my parents have got us a night away already so am wondering what others got, not neccesarily what you think I should ask for.

@bellsbuss

Mine is too I have a weird thing about new jewellery. All of mine except my wedding band is second hand because I couldn't find one to fit around the engagement ring.
My watch is from 1992 the year I was born and I got it for Christmas the year I had my son. I treasure it 🖤

Rosesarere · 28/09/2019 17:37

I had a trip to iceland, minus the children

cultkid · 28/09/2019 17:38

@hazandduck I might get my son a picnic basket for Christmas this year.... lovely idea thank you for sharing that

hazandduck · 28/09/2019 17:40

No worries! It’s got proper plates and cutlery too. You can find some really nice ones online x

OP, if you are looking for something adventurous...my dad bought me a flying lesson I have yet to use as an currently pregnant. Can’t wait to do it once I’ve popped!

AmIAWeed · 28/09/2019 17:57

cultkid Yawn, sensitive much?!
My point is why would I want an expensive gift that I consider ugly just because of the brand name.
For me, saying I have a Rolex is pointless if I don't like it, in the same way having a status car is pointless if you as an individual don't like it.
A 30th (or any big present) needs to be something you as an individual love, not something everyone else considers a good present.

Roselilly36 · 28/09/2019 17:59

A baby I think! I can’t remember much else about my 30th than my adorable DS.

WhatsInAName19 · 28/09/2019 18:04

My husband took me away for the weekend with our 1 year old and we had a great time visiting museums, parks, eating out etc. He also bought me a necklace I'd had my eye on.

SuzieBishop · 28/09/2019 18:05

Me & DH went for a 2 night trip to Glasgow - my Mum&Dad joined us the first night and we went for drinks and to a nice Italian and the next day and night we went for Breakfast, Lunch then dinner and more drinks with different friends.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 28/09/2019 18:05

Mastitis 🙄

fatulousatforty · 28/09/2019 18:07

I went for a weekend in Paris
I loved it !
My MIL had the DDs

Woodlandwitch · 28/09/2019 18:13

A handbag and some ankle boots

raspberryk · 28/09/2019 18:14

@hidinginthenightgarden

Tell him he's not the one who will be wearing them. Plus there are so many different ones even I have some my OH likes.

If you don't have any already, the sizing is weird sometimes so a trip to the shops and making a day of it in Birmingham or London is a must!

GinAndBubbles · 28/09/2019 18:21

Oh goodness reading these now I feel mine was a bit much 🙈 I was 30 in January this year...

2 weeks in Caribbean, diamond necklace, diamond earrings, weekend in London (Park Lane), surprise lunch with best friends who don’t live near us and mum and friends turned up in Caribbean! That was mainly from husband but not from mum and I paid towards some as well... birthdays are a big deal for us!

PS we aren’t ‘rich’, just really go to town on birthdays!

GinAndBubbles · 28/09/2019 18:22

Jesus sorry typo... mainly husband, some from mum and me

YouJustDoYou · 28/09/2019 18:23

Had some wine and cake.

afrikat · 28/09/2019 18:23

Went for a long lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant (The Kitchin in Edinburgh), was amazing

Neoflex · 28/09/2019 18:25

I gave birth to my daughter on my 30th. Such a crazy day!

TheCanyon · 28/09/2019 18:25

A mug

FeltCarrot · 28/09/2019 18:26

Can’t remember what I got but DH got a wife!!!😂

OccasionalNachos · 28/09/2019 18:29

I got a nice spec road bike, but appreciate that’s pretty niche. Hoping for jewellery, a watch or a similar lovely trinket for my 40th as I feel a bit like I’ve missed out!

Yoohoo16 · 28/09/2019 18:31

Nothing if I remember correctly. Having said that we were 30, 2 months apart so went to New York and classed that as birthday pressies.

Cauliflowerpower · 28/09/2019 18:32

My mum got me a diet recipe book I'd asked for.... and a free pedometer from McDonald's.....

I was like wtf!?!?

Don't be my mum...

kazza446 · 28/09/2019 18:34

I got a divorce!! Exh promised me we could start a family when we turned 30. Turned out he actually didn’t want kids but failed to tell me that in all of the 6 years we were together!! His answer to me reaching 30 was to have a fling with a work colleague and then blamed it on the pressure of me wanting children. It was definitely a birthday to remember!

itsnotcycling · 28/09/2019 18:38

I bought myself an expensive Marc Jacobs handbag. I got other things as well but this is the only present I remember. It felt amazing to treat myself.
I haven't spent that amount of money on myself since!

Jamhandprints · 28/09/2019 18:47

Nothing, I think. I was single though.
