Just need to figure out whether I'm being unreasonable or it's the norm for schools to finish at 2pm?

I think 3:25pm. Either that or 3:20pm

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/09/2019 17:02

DS is still at primary but I know the secondary school finishes at 2.55pm.

Starlight456 · 24/09/2019 17:04

Schools round here range from 2.20pm to 3.20pm with starting times between 7.40 and 8.40am.

IfNot · 24/09/2019 17:10

None of them should finish earlier than 4pm imo.
Start later, finish later would be ideal.
2 pm is insane, especially if you have to work til 5 ish.
Ours finishes at 3. And all mine wants to do after is game...from 3.20 pm. I hate it. So many arguments.

Janleverton · 24/09/2019 17:10

Dd’s school is 8.30 -3.10
Ds’s school is 8.10- 2.50
Another local school is 7.40 - 2.20.

dementedpixie · 24/09/2019 17:12

That's not really a school problem though is it? If they finished at 4 they would game from 4:20 Hmm

Bucatini · 24/09/2019 17:23

3.40

Rubyroses3 · 24/09/2019 17:23

8.20-4.05

mnahmnah · 24/09/2019 17:25

I would assume that if they finish at 2,00 they must start earlier, such as 8.00? They have to get a certain amount of hours in legally

Gazelda · 24/09/2019 17:26

8.40-3.15

x2boys · 24/09/2019 18:08

My son,s s hool.finish at 2.50pm but they have to.be there for 8.30 and they only have a 20 minute break in the morning and half an hour for lunch .

x2boys · 24/09/2019 18:10

And tbh I prefer it my school.day in the 80,s was a lot longer and more drawn out with much longer breaks .

IfNot · 24/09/2019 18:20

I don't know why the face Bunny
Yes, it's a school problem in that school starts too early and ends too early. It's also a kid problem and a gaming problem.
And he doesn't always game from 3.20 but he wants to and it causes stress.

Also there has been a ton of research proving that teens do much better with a later start/ later finish.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/09/2019 18:22

4:15 or 1 on a Saturday.

Baguetteaboutit · 24/09/2019 18:24

On Saturday, prof?

That's interesting, where are you and what type of school is that?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/09/2019 18:28

We’re in London. How are working parents supposed to juggle/afford kids finishing school early (if there aren’t after school clubs or wraparound care?)

autumndreaming · 24/09/2019 18:29

@Baguetteaboutit lots of independent schools have Saturday school

2pm seems really early for the U.K., but overseas sometimes have different timings

spiderlight · 24/09/2019 18:30

3.05. Starts at 8.35.

SquintEastwood · 24/09/2019 18:32
