Stolen photo?

I recently went to a friend's birthday party and as you can imagine, lots of photos were taken by everyone there. I also took a lot of photos on my mobile phone and I have just noticed that someone else who was there has posted a photo which I took on the night onto a Whatsapp group.

The photo is definitely the one I took, there is absolutely no doubt about that.

I didn't send this photo to anyone and am completely baffled as to how someone else could have got it off my phone as it was definitely in my possession all evening. Does anyone have any idea how this could have been done please?

Identity theft is a serious business

Well fuck me sideways. I've read it all now.

OP try wrapping your phone in tinfoil.

JudgeGrudge · 17/09/2019 13:53

Does a person with spyware on their phone not have to place it on the persons phone who they want to steal from by accessing the phone they want to hack either in person, by a dodgy link, or bluetooth or something?

OP says she is now dealing with this . I REALLY hope she is right because if this was me and she had got it wrong and made a fuss with the police or my friends or work or whatever I would sue their ass.

MulticolourMophead · 17/09/2019 13:54

Yeah, they sent it to the WhatsApp group and its ended up in your camera roll with the rest of your pictures.

OP said she looked at the picture before it was on WhatsApp, so this reduces the options by 1.

I've disabled or switched off some of the features on my phone, eg Bluetooth. Hopefully I won't get hacked.

#partypoppergate

EyeDrops · 17/09/2019 14:15

Why would anyone steal and post a photo of party poppers?!?

TheQueef · 17/09/2019 14:15

So black mirror!

Funghi · 17/09/2019 14:21

Call 999.

Blaanotnow · 17/09/2019 14:27

Maybe freind posted to the group to passively let you know that you airdrop your pictures. Hoping you would be more careful next time.

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/09/2019 14:27

I'd at least log it with 101 and cancel the cheque. Was it a picture of the Sistine Chapel?

user1473878824 · 17/09/2019 14:45

Can we all PLEASE stop patronising the OP with rational, plausible explanations that are definitely what actually happened!

joblotbubble · 17/09/2019 14:52

OP said she looked at the picture before it was on WhatsApp, so this reduces the options by 1.

Of course she did. The plausible explanation thing wouldn't work otherwise.

joblotbubble · 17/09/2019 14:53

*would work

InsertFunnyUsername · 17/09/2019 15:45

I came back to see if there was an update.

OP tap twice if you're reading this...

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 17/09/2019 15:48

I’m pretty sure that the spyware is placed on the hackees (probably not a word) rather than the hackers phone? That’s why you check your own equipment for spyware...

Anyway OP won’t be back now.... she’s probably been uploaded to the cloud by her identity thief....

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/09/2019 15:51

Wait how do we know OP isn't actually the hacker?!

Pinkflipflop85 · 17/09/2019 16:00

OP I've heard that if you microwave your phone it will remove the spyware....

Silvercatowner · 17/09/2019 16:09

Please do not patronise me

*Snort!!!

Dyrne · 17/09/2019 16:10

Ooh that would be good, ThatCurlyGirl . Come on, get everyone wound up about Spyware, then come back and say “here’s a link to an app that will save you from unwanted party-popper-photo theft...”

VeniVidiVoxi · 17/09/2019 16:29

Buu bu buuuut hoooooow, and more importantly whhhyyyyyyyyyy?

Fascinating! Awaiting update....

Soola · 17/09/2019 16:42
