If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

NewNameJust4Today · 03/09/2019 06:11

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

Wait there, I'll find some fucks to give you.

Aren’t you just lovely?

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 03/09/2019 08:07

Conservative all the way.

whiteroseredrose · 03/09/2019 08:07

Green or Lib Dem.

I liked Labour's animal welfare stuff that came out recently but every time I consider Labour they come out with (IMO) twaddle such as putting a cap on how much parents can give to their DC and right to buy for private rentals.

Labour chose the wrong Milliband brother.

“How the hell will they have time to pick new candidates in the time available?”

They will be brexit party types - that’s the point.

MrsBertBibby · 03/09/2019 08:23

Labour.

MumApr18 · 03/09/2019 08:24

SNP. They have Scotland's interests at heart - the only party that seems to give two fucks now that there is actually a whole country outside of Westminster!

MrsBertBibby · 03/09/2019 08:25

How the hell will they have time to pick new candidates in the time available?

They will be unvetted maniacs, like all the horrors that got through for UKIP and the B party. Imagine the gems on social media that the press will mine.

PotteringAlong · 03/09/2019 08:26

Lib Dem

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/09/2019 08:27

LD for certain.

Our constituency is marginal Tory/LD, and it was Tory by a whisker last time. Next time the Tory MP will def. be out. (Strong Remain area.).
So that will most certainly make a difference. They only have a majority of one!

Anyone in a remotely marginal seat should IMO check the figures for last time and vote tactically, according to their own convictions.

Tonnerre · 03/09/2019 08:30

Lib Dem, partly because of their stance on Europe, and partly because they stand the best chance of unseating the Conservative in my constituency.

Sara2117 · 03/09/2019 08:34

Always been a labour supporter but will vote Lib Dem.

averylongtimeago · 03/09/2019 08:38

Our local mp is awful, a Tory of the worst kind. However you could put a blue rosette on a pig here and it would be elected.

I will vote for either the libdems or labour- whichever looks most likely to get rid of the local Tory.

Right now my priority is to get rid of the Torys. I might not like JC, but he won't be around for ever. What's more, I like their local candidate.

Metempsychosis · 03/09/2019 08:38

To be fair I don’t think they’ll be full-on weirdos like the Brexit lot - the Conservative party has a big machine and a lot of councillors and previously vetted failed candidates so they should be able to rustle up enough people who are ideologically pure but also not members of KKK Facebook groups. It’ll be a logistical/administrative nightmare though.

Eleanorpenelope · 03/09/2019 08:39

I’d go Tory without a doubt

BearSoFair · 03/09/2019 08:40

Most likely Lib Dem. Historically a Labour voter, I was even a party member for a while but I just don't feel the same affinity with them in recent years. Although they'd still be the most likely option to remove a Tory government, so thinking like that, maybe I'd still vote for them. Honestly I'd struggle to really get behind any party at the moment!

Rainbowhairdontcare · 03/09/2019 08:42

LibDem. I'm Jewish so would never vote Labour, hate the Tories and the Greens and their fear of nuclear power (when it's the greenest energy) as well as come cuckoo ideas make me never want to vote for them.

Deathgrip · 03/09/2019 08:44

gay marriage
Any party in power at that moment would have done it

stabilising the economy, reducing the deficit
Ha. Ha ha ha.

increased personal allowance, lower corp tax
Well, as long as you’re marginally better off eh?

Not everything, lots of things I disagree with
Such as what? Rise in food banks, UC, people drying from malnutrition, targeting of the disabled and most vulnerable, schools having to beg parents for funds? Or something else you disagree with?

How can anyone possibly vote Tory? They have presided over the most divisive, damaging period in our country’s recent history. What about their current actions makes you think they are better placed to get us through a period of crisis than Corbyn or anyone else for that matter?

They’ve proven, repeatedly that they have no competency. I am not the world’s biggest Corbyn fan but the hyperbole about him here is utterly ridiculous. The tories have had ample opportunity to sort out this mess and have failed, repeatedly. And people banging on about better corporation tax rates when there are people worrying they won’t be able to get crucial medicines in a couple of months is utterly vile.

The tories need to go, and I will vote for whoever is most likely to unseat them - here that’s unlikely, but labour or Lib Dem.

TeuchterTraveller · 03/09/2019 08:44

If you vote SNP you will inadvertently give them a mandate to go for indyref 2

SNP. I actively support Scottish independence so there's no inadvertently about it.

the only party that seems to give two fucks now that there is actually a whole country outside of Westminster

Completely agree with this. Feel lucky I am in Scotland where there is an alternative to the self serving, egotistical politics of Westminster.

darkriver19886 · 03/09/2019 08:46

Labour and Jeremy all the way.

YouCantBeSirius · 03/09/2019 08:46

SNP

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 03/09/2019 08:50

Fuck knows.

It won't make a blind bit of difference anyway (Tory stronghold).

I'll agonize over it anyway.

MumApr18 · 03/09/2019 08:50

@Deathgrip Well said!!!

FLOrenze · 03/09/2019 08:51

My dilemma is, ‘ Do I vote for the politician or the party?’ I could not vote for Corbyn but our young labour MP is excellent. I am a remainer, I live in London and loathed bumbling Boris when he was Mayor. I think that no party is going to get an overall majority and we are heading for a mess and a Brexit fudge.

NewNameJust4Today · 03/09/2019 08:54

@FLOrenze in your circs I would vote labour and out my faith in the Young guard you respect.
