If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

NewNameJust4Today · 03/09/2019 06:11

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

But every time a proposal was put forward the joint remain forces effectively vetoed it. So tig your on.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2019 09:13

As did many “leave forces”. They are the ones who want to leave, why aren’t they coming together and agreeing on something instead of ripping each other to shreds? Because blaming remainers and the EU for the mess is easier than taking responsibility (especially when they are making lots of money from it)

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2019 09:16

Seriously - you need to start getting angry with the leavers in govt and parliament, those who said “easiest deal in history” and failed to deliver and failed to come to an agreement that means we would have left

easiest deal in history

Yep

Apparently it was going to be a piece of piss...no mention of no deal

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 11:06

And again tig your on.

TheBatsHaveLeftTheBellTower · 05/09/2019 11:19

Nobody.

Not Con for obvious reasons.
Not Lab because I think JC is weak and not a leader.
Not Lib Dems because I can tell the difference between men and women and LDs want me to pretend that I can't.
Not Greens because see LDs

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2019 11:33

What does “tig your on” mean?

Your beef is not with me. Take it to the leave MPs who are refusing to come to an agreement about how to leave.

gospelsinger · 05/09/2019 11:46

If I wanted to leave, I would vote Tory as they seam the most determined to do it.
However, I want to remain, so I will have to vote lib dem.

Normally I vote Labour, but not this time.

Bunnyfuller · 05/09/2019 11:55

It was not blocked by Remain. It was blocked by ‘but this is a rubbish deal’. Sadly, only Boris appears to have grasped there will never was or will be a ‘good deal’. Other than the one we have now.

As Boris lumpishly uses his bullying bullish self to try to shove through No Deal (because the big money gets big wins from No deal) slowly, slowly some are cottoning on to what Remain actually did the maths for 3 years ago - the world has moved on, you cannot roll history back and there is NO GOOD BREXIT!

The blatant bribes are now being thrown around, fucking decimated all public services, turned the NHS into something no one wants to work in, encouraging xenophobia and hurting anyone but the very wealthy.

And still fucking idiot Sun/Express/Mail readers will vote for them ‘because tax’ as if they benefit massively by paying £10 a month less tax. Cynical bribery and the working man fucking plays into their hands.

Had Cameron launched the Referendum with a ‘Remain’ or ‘Leave like this’ with a requirement for a minimum majority (oooh, I don’t know, like Unions and govt have to adhere to) then by now we would be out (but fair and square) or in (but hopefully actually dealing with people’s gripes instead of allowing Farage the fool to only actually do his MEP job on 2 occasions (neither being his actual fishery role).
It would be easy to impose costs on EU immigrants. And wow, might actually do something positive for the NHS.

Instead, a reckless gamble playing on latent racism, fear of terrorism and a need to hit back at Austerity. It’s been a massive Con, but that’s what they are ConServatives.

Do people now understand that the greater part of the electorate base their opinions on what they see in the media. The media are as to blame as the MPs. I used to wonder at how sections of the Russian press were aligned to certain groups - правда was exactly not that but was the party line, and still is. And we have it here. Unbelievable.

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 12:17

If you vote labour in my opinion you lose the right to call out people you feel are racist.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2019 12:38

And ditto tories?

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 12:41

Absolutely agree

monstermunchforlunch · 05/09/2019 12:44

Lib Dem as I’m in a Tory safe seat with the Lib Dem’s coming second so it’d be a tactical vote although it does save me from voting labour who I no longer have any faith in.

MorrisZapp · 05/09/2019 12:46

Incandescent, who are you going to vote for?

theskywasallviolet · 05/09/2019 12:48

@Dontgiveamonkeys1350 I jur

theskywasallviolet · 05/09/2019 12:54

@Dontgiveamonkeys1350 I lived in Glasgow for 17 years and loved it, it’s a wonderful city especially if you’re into art/film/music.

I see Jo Johnson has quit. Even he has problems and can see that his brother’s ideas are not in the national interest.

Brexit Party

AgnesNutterWitch · 05/09/2019 13:16

I'm very much a floating voter and at the moment I'd find it hard to get behind either a Corbyn lead labour (too hard left) or a BoJo lead conservative party (too batshit right wing). I usually tend to vote for who I think is most likely to be sensible and moderate and neither of them fit that bill for me.

So I'd say probably lib dems - I'm not a huge fan of them historically but maybe if enough centrist and moderate conservative remainers got behind them as the anti brexit party we could maybe just about swing a lib-lab coalition and I think they'd hold Corbyn's feet to the fire over a second referendum.

MrsSnippyPants · 05/09/2019 14:06

Our MP is standing down, so we will basically have unknowns to deal with.
I will read the party manifestos and hope some of them will have changed their stance on the 'TWAW' mantra. However, I intend to contact all the candidates standing for my constituency and will vote for whichever one is willing to stand up for women and girls in the hope that they can work from within.
It's a vain hope, I know, but it's either that or not vote at all. I spoiled my ballot in the local elections (because not one single candidate would respond to my very polite questions) and it stuck in my craw.
Never felt so unrepresented.

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 14:53

Was that aimed at me Infinite? If so your very funny ha ha ha.

Jolonglegs · 05/09/2019 15:01

I'm in a seat which is marginal Conservative/Lib Dem so it has to be Lib Dem. If I didn't need to tactical vote, and PR was in place it would be Green as we need to start focusing on environment issues more than we are.
I think the issues about Transwomen are secondary to more major issues such as the climate emergency.

Totaldogsbody · 05/09/2019 15:20

Bunnyfuller I believe the anti-semitism levelled at the Labour party is because they refused to adopt the definition of anti-semitism by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, they eventually did but with the add on that they would still be allowed to criticise Israel over the treatment of Palestine. I may be wrong and there may have been incidents I dont know about. Personally If this is the reason I believe that Labour are perfectly within their rights to criticise Israel about the treatment of Palestine without being accused of anti-Semitism.

tierraJ · 05/09/2019 15:32

Lib Dem to tactically get rid of the Tory in my constituency

Breathlessness · 05/09/2019 15:35

Lib Dem as they’re the only party that is pro Remain.
