If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

Labour needs to bin Corbyn to get us out of this mess.

We need a strong opposition at the moment and there isn’t one.

This is going to be a depressing GE,I think Tory’s will win by a landslide.

Bookworm4 · 03/09/2019 09:59

Can we please not go down the road of the US, cult of personality is not how you choose your vote. People saying they always voted Labour but don’t like Corbyn, you’re voting for a party not the leader; which we know can easily be changed.
Women who vote Tory should be ashamed, a party that is filled with nasty people who have no interest in bettering anything for anyone, carry on working until 75 and know you voted for these vile people, who caused the deaths of many disabled people with their penalising of their benefits. Sleep easy in your middle class world whilst not giving any fucks about the less well off in society.

I'll be voting tactically to get the Tories out.

Very very safe tory seat

Not a hope in hell of changing that but i will either vote lib dem which i would really rather not OR I’ll see if there is an independent that sounds good

I don’t think we get many people standing...I’ll have to check

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 10:05

1 independent in 2017

Lessstressedhemum · 03/09/2019 10:11

SNP. I know that will be interpreted as a mandate for another independence referendum and I am glad about that.

Independence is the only way to have a vote that counts. And it's the only way to avoid getting forced into whatever mess Westminster creates.

TamarindCove · 03/09/2019 10:13

You only have to look at Jeremy Corbyn’s voting history on Europe to see his true position about Brexit as well!

Deathgrip · 03/09/2019 10:15

But Corbyn’s personal view on Brexit is irrelevant if Labour campaign on a vote on the final options - or do people forget that May campaigned for Remain?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 10:19

Corbyn doesnt want Trident either but he goes along with whats voted at conference albeit a little slow about it for my liking

walkingtheplank · 03/09/2019 10:44

Corbyn's view on Brexit is very relevant.
He didn't campaign to Remain during the referendum because he wanted to Leave. Had he campaigned, I think Remain would have won.
Last week he could not bring himself to attend the meeting between the parties trying to find a way to Remain - the only party leader in that group not to do so.
So I have no idea what a vote for Labour would mean.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 10:49

He campaigned more on the referendum and Remain than any of the Lib Dems, and more than Alan Johnson who was the leader of the Better In campaign. Saying Corbyn didnt campaign is revisionist and also suits the BBC narrative of not reporting on him campaigning, could he have been more effective certainly but as he said on 'The Last Leg' on balance he would rather Remain and Reform than Leave

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/09/2019 10:50

Would never vote Tory. Wouldn't piss on JC if he was on fire so Labour out. The Lib Dems don't want my vote because I know what a woman is and they don't. Ditto the Greens. For the first time in my life, and I hope, the last, I will not vote. None of them speak for me.

I completely agree with everything you say. The only difference is I will vote for an independent if we have one (obviously depending on what they stand for).

wichitalinemanswoman · 03/09/2019 10:52

Labour but would prefer a new labour leader

walkingtheplank · 03/09/2019 10:54

Justanotherposter00 - I think its your post that is revisionist. I remember personally being frustrated that he was virtually invisible during the referendum campaign.
And there is no explanation for not bothering to turn up with all the other Remain party leaders last week. That's a fact, not revisionism.

StrongTea · 03/09/2019 10:55

SNP

BeautifulWintersMorning · 03/09/2019 10:57

Lib dem

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 10:58

And there is no explanation for not bothering to turn up with all the other Remain party leaders last week.

I must be dim on google today, could you link to the report that he didnt meet them please walking.

Angela Eagle (hardly a Corbyn fan) said, at the time, “Jeremy is up and down the country, pursuing an agenda that would make a 25-year-old tired. He has not stopped. We are doing our best, but if we are not reported it is difficult.” and a report from Loughborough University showed him as the most effective Labour representative (no LibDem came close) in the Remain campaign.

Deathgrip · 03/09/2019 11:02

He didn't campaign to Remain during the referendum because he wanted to Leave.

Lies.

On day one of his leadership, he issued a statement stating the party would continue to support Remain.

Where do people get these lies that they just pass on as facts?

Cheeseoncrumpets · 03/09/2019 11:07

Im a traditional Labour voter, and they are still the party that my core beliefs most align with but I'd really struggle in ane election because I feel they've been fucking useless over Brexit.

Kuponut · 03/09/2019 11:09

I genuinely have no idea around here - I'll vote for the least Brexity fuck up option - but we have one of the Change MPs which fucks the tactics up somewhat (I can't stand the MP). Will have to see who fields candidates I guess.

drivingtofrance · 03/09/2019 11:10

No idea.

I need more information and am trying to pick up as much as I can to make that decision.

I don't want Brexit to happen at all - so find me a candidate that can turn back time and they will get my vote.

It's a big shower of shit. Angry

Diagonalli · 03/09/2019 11:11

Tory if I was to bother voting at all - but only to ensure Corbyn didn't get in

GinbergsHowl · 03/09/2019 11:15

Conservative.

walkingtheplank · 03/09/2019 11:18

www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/aug/27/mps-pledge-form-alternative-parliament-prorogation-church-house-declaration-brexit

Article in the Guardian, so Labour supporting, shows he didn't turn up. McDonnell said he was in another meeting but Corbyn was supposedly the person who called the meeting and unfortunately was reported on social media as walking around Westminster at the time.

I appreciate that it's natural to conflate what Labour want with what Corbyn wants but IMHO, I think his beliefs are at odds with his colleagues.

ScarletAnemone · 03/09/2019 11:20

I have often voted labour in the past but they have come across as utterly incompetent under Corbyn.

Fortunately we have an excellent SNP MP who has been absolutely brilliant in finding legal challenges to Brexit. I will continue to lend her my vote.
