Is this woman winning at life, or a dirty rotten thief? Pointless straw poll!

DH and I saw this earlier in a hospital cafe and had a long pointless discussion over it, so naturally I need to know what MNers think Grin

Cafe has three tiers of sarnie: cheap ones (cheese/houmous/coleslaw), middling (ham, chicken tikka) and expensive (prawn, can't remember what else)

Procedure is you order your sandwich, it's wrapped in a bag and then you take it along the queue to the till where you order drinks etc. Till person asks you what sandwich you've got and you pay.

Woman in front of us ordered a prawn sarnie with extra salad and coleslaw. Takes it to the till, is asked "what have you got?" and replies "Cheese". Pays the cheaper rate.

Is she a cheeky sod? Or is it fair enough? I have too much time on my hands

She's a thief....

Chocolatecake12 · 02/09/2019 17:57

Cheeky
Can’t believe that they don’t write on the bag or label it. They’re heaving themselves wide open for cf’s and I’m sure she’s not the only one.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/09/2019 17:57

I agree with @boredboredboredboredbored - she is a thief.

gorrisandhorace · 02/09/2019 17:57

But cut her some slack
She’s at the hospital cafe 🤷‍♀️
Who knows what she’s dealing with!

Simonsaysitschristmas · 02/09/2019 17:58

Another vote for thief.

Sparklingbrook · 02/09/2019 17:58

That's like weighing your apples as onions at the self checkout. Sly CF.

LoseLooseLucy · 02/09/2019 17:59

I'd call her deceitful rather than an out and out thief.

OccasionalNachos · 02/09/2019 17:59

She’s cheeky, but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn’t matter

MissBPotter · 02/09/2019 18:01

Cheeky and a form of theft.

However the cafe is inviting this behaviour by expecting honesty and so should tighten up its procedures.

Knitclubchatter · 02/09/2019 18:01

Thief, low lying pond scum. I’d mention it to the organization providing the service.

Soola · 02/09/2019 18:04

Deceitful.

JapaneseBirdPainting · 02/09/2019 18:04

thief

Yiddytod · 02/09/2019 18:04

I would suggest to cafe they put price band on the bags say 1, 2, 3 for price - they could do it in advance if worried about time/ hygiene. She is a chancer that has seen what she sees as an opportunity and taken it

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 02/09/2019 18:05

Cheeky madam! And it is stealing when you think about it

Doesn’t really matter what she’s dealing with does it?? Any of us might be having a hard time but that doesn’t excuse being a cheeky fucker.

Why on mumsnet most some posters fall over themselves to excuse shitty behaviour? Some people are just arseholes 🤷🏻‍♀️

megletthesecond · 02/09/2019 18:06

Dishonest thief.

WorraLiberty · 02/09/2019 18:06

"But cut her some slack

Who knows what she’s dealing with!"

But how would stealing a prawn sandwich help? Confused

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 02/09/2019 18:07

Thief!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 02/09/2019 18:08

Did your DH think it was fine then?!

Surprised nobody has come along yet to say it's probably dementia. Or ASD.

gorrisandhorace · 02/09/2019 18:09

Well perhaps she just thinks
Fuck it all
My kid is sick/ my diagnosis is grim/ I’m visiting my nan and I’ve just been robbed of money in the car park anyway. Or whatever.
And just decides that she doesn’t give a shit about prawn stealing in the great scheme of things.

PrettyShiningPeople · 02/09/2019 18:11

Course it matters! Hell knows what else she gets up to. Characters like this mean the rest of us end up paying more!

dudsville · 02/09/2019 18:19

Do they verbally advertise the tier system? If so then likely thief. If they don't advertise the tier system then it's less clear. You see, she may always order cheese, but heard someone else say how tasty this was, so ordered it on a whim, and then got to the till and answered "cheese" out of habit. There are other possible theories. You need more evidence. You need to go back and hang out in the cafeteria.

Passthecherrycoke · 02/09/2019 18:20

The absolute brazenness of this is not only quite funny but makes me want to let her off Grin

ImNotYourGranny · 02/09/2019 18:23

She's a deceitful thief and I'd have blurted out the truth as I have AS and wouldn't be able to hold it in.

It's theft by misrepresentation.
If it's a Costa I wouldn't bother but WRVS I would tell.
