Slides or sliders? And where in the country are you?

DH (Northern) calls them slides.
Me (South-East) calls them sliders.

It’s causing an argument - who is right?

I don’t call them anything. But I’d say sliders.

Slides are what people use to bore others with in presentations.

Eistigi · 30/08/2019 12:13

I call them Sliders, because the kids do - I'm not in UK though.
Previously to my children calling them Sliders I would've probably called them flip flops!

ImNotYourGranny · 30/08/2019 12:14

Flipflops. I'm from the south east.

youngestisapsycho · 30/08/2019 12:14

Sliders.... def not flipflops. I'm in London.

DameSquashalot · 30/08/2019 12:15

Sliders is a new word for me, but that's what DD calls them. SE.

dustybluebell · 30/08/2019 12:15

Also sliders (SE) but I would have said it's a relatively new name as I would have called them flip flops 10 plus years ago (rightly or wrongly)

youngestisapsycho · 30/08/2019 12:15

My DD wears them with socks... real annoys me! Grin

BobTheFishermansWife · 30/08/2019 12:16

Another for flip-flops, I'm in East Midlands

motorcyclenumptiness · 30/08/2019 12:17

Flipflops. I'm from the 80s.

eddiemairswife · 30/08/2019 12:17

Flip-flops. Midlands, originally from London.

Dec2019mumtobe · 30/08/2019 12:24

Flipflops ... I'd never heard of sliders or slides until recently. Thought it was a very American term?

Dec2019mumtobe · 30/08/2019 12:24

I'm also originally from the midlands but now live on the north

SwizzelStick · 30/08/2019 12:25

CaptainJaneway62 · 30/08/2019 12:29

I live in the north west and I was told by my teenage grandson that these are Slides not Flip Flops.

incontrolofmyownlife · 30/08/2019 12:30

I'd call these sliders, I'm from the NE.

Flip flops to me are the ones with the bits in between your toes Grin

Cornishmum00 · 30/08/2019 12:30

Sliders is what all my kids and friends call them

SummerOfComedy · 30/08/2019 12:33

I had a pair similar to these years ago. They were called deck sandals.

gideonsmideon · 30/08/2019 12:33

Flip flops sw

Crinkle77 · 30/08/2019 12:34

This is totally new to me cos I've never heard of slides/sliders. I am in the NW and would call them flip flops.

BEDinhalfanhour · 30/08/2019 12:35

Slides is the correct term.

Sliders is wrong.

But then the footwear is very wrong Grin You would never see me in them.

They fall off my feet
