I need to get my act together - anyone else?!

I really need to get my act together - my house is a mess and needs a bloody good clean, I don't look after myself properly so always feel scruffy, I'm overweight since having 2 DC and I permanently feel stressed and like I have no control over anything.

So I am going to take back control. I would like to be an oasis of calm and serenity, preferably 2.5 stone lighter, obviously much slimmer, with decent hair, nails and eyebrows, a lovely clean house and the ability to turn down a chocolate bar once in a while. I also want to be able to wear a bikini on holiday next year without feeling quite so wobbly. It starts today!

Anyone else up for it? Grin

So far the single thing that has helped me the most is taking five minutes in the evening just writing down what I (and kids) have to do tomorrow. Makes life so much easier.

Maybe I will start adding in what I intend to eat tomorrow.

originaldomesticgodess · 26/08/2019 21:56

I'm in!
Our diet is pretty good...lots of fruit and veg. Drink plenty of water. But I take absolutely no exercise at all. I look after disabled husband and run around after elderly parents but when it comes to anything that raises the heart rate I do nothing. Tomorrow morning, before it gets too hot, I will venture out on my bike. Tyres are pumped and I'm up for it! 🚴🚴🚴

RubySlippers77 · 26/08/2019 22:44

Good luck with the bike ride @originaldomesticgoddess - I fully intend to start running and/ or Shredding once the DC are finally, finally back at school - partly for the weight loss, partly to tone up and partly just to make me feel better about myself!

TheInebriati · 26/08/2019 22:51

I started a few months ago. This week, I lost 2lbs doing Fast 800 (1.5 stones down and another 2 to go), deep cleaned the bathroom, and listed loads of items on ebay.

Gertie75 · 26/08/2019 23:06

Can I join too, we got back from our final holiday today and I'm all set to lose 3 stone for Christmas, I'm planning to do OMAD (one meal a day) starting tomorrow, I've lost weight before and find everything else falls into place when I'm in my size 12's, I take better care of myself, keep the house tidier etc, it must all be connected to my mood.

My youngest starts school next Wednesday and I've got so many plans to get fit in my new free time.

Andromeida59 · 26/08/2019 23:31

I'm also in! I've had a dreadful time of late but I want to put it behind me. I want to be healthier and finally off painkillers, I need to eat healthier too. I need to do more yoga and just look after myself. I also have started going through a list of everything I'm thankful for. It makes the bad things not seem so bad.

Lardlizard · 26/08/2019 23:41

Sept will be a new start for me

shutthedamndoor · 27/08/2019 07:28

It's so good to hear everyone's determination- and the odd slip up.
I'm starting the 4 hour body today, and have been out with the puppy already.
I'm also reading 'Fat is a feminist issue' for the first time- and it's proving a real antidote to my usual diet mentality.
Washing is on, dishwasher done. Today the kids are helping to clear out the junk cupboard (though they don't know this yet...)
Have a great Tuesday everyone Brew

MillieMoodle · 27/08/2019 07:44

Managed to get out for a long walk yesterday with DS1 on his bike. DH and I have said we'll go for a walk, with him on his bike, every day when I get in from work. I'm also going to try and get out for a walk at lunch time each day.

I work long hours and find my job stressful, but just recently it's been worse than ever. So I've decided to just do the hours I'm paid for and to try to leave on time from now on. I'm fairly sure my mental health will improve if I don't focus so much on work!

The proper diet starts today. I've given myself until October half term (just under 9 weeks here) to lose at least half a stone. Then I want to lose another half a stone by Christmas. Eek.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Just back from my bike ride. Managed 5k without too much bother. Same again tomorrow.

hopewardrobe · 27/08/2019 10:25

Well done everyone. I've done my level 1 housework jobs (TOMM) and going to do a HITT workout at lunchtime. It's easier to do all this whilst I'm not working but I'm back to work on the 16th so need to tweak my routine and get my kids to do more.

hopewardrobe · 27/08/2019 10:27

Oh and for those that like an inspirational quote:
' Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow'

Howlongtillbedtime · 27/08/2019 10:37

Morning all
I am going to get busy today

Gym
16:8
Tackle the ironing mountain
Change bedding
Meal plan and set up my bullet journal again. I used it a lot at the beginning of the year and it really helped keep me on task.

TwoThreeFourFive · 27/08/2019 14:19

And me!

Two stone to lose, but no motivation. At least 50% of my clothes are tatty or don't fit, and I need an incentive to sort them all out.

On top of that, I don't exercise enough and drink far too much.

It's so overwhelming at times. I think I will start with healthy eating, take one bad habit at a time and deal with it for good.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/08/2019 19:38

My diet was still mostly shit today but I did cancel a couple of bank
shifts so extra time off to walk and look after myself and I ate some tomatoes with my supper. Small steps😳

I am such a crap dieter.....

newnameallround · 27/08/2019 19:48

Yes, me! I need to get fit and lose a little of the c section overhang if I can. I need to declutter and deep clean. I need to get organised. I started this morning but deciding to cut out booze (except on a Saturday night-a girls gotta have one Vice, right!!). I need a new job.... one that's something more than a means to pay the mortgage (I have no idea what though).

Basically I need to be become me 10 years ago but with two kids and a husband in tow....

hungrywalrus · 27/08/2019 20:10

Book in a dentist and hygienist appointment. It occurred to me recently that people spend more on their hair and nails than something that is actually beneficial for their health which is bonkers really. I find it also makes me feel like I’ve got grown up points.

KickOffTheSundayShoes · 27/08/2019 22:44

I feel so fucking fat. Honestly, I have had enough.

Any tips on how I can actually gain some will power not to eat all the time? Blush

flowerstar19 · 27/08/2019 23:33

Inspired by this thread I bought a nice notebook and wrote a list today, which I almost completed! Started a list for tomorrow too :) Sadly I am not remotely artistic so not sure I could do a bullet journal?

Sorry I have no tips on the food. I had no breakfast, Mcdonalds for lunch, pringles, hummus, Haribo and chocolate for dinner, then thought I might get scurvy so ate an apple!

RubySlippers77 · 27/08/2019 23:47

@newnameallround I can empathise, was remembering the 2012 Olympics recently (heavily involved with work) and what a fab year 2012 was for me in general Grin fast forward 7 years and I have a grumpy DP and two squabbly toddlers, plus 3 stone extra to carry. And much knackeredness.....

SolitudeAtAltitude · 28/08/2019 07:18

I always slightly despair towards the end of the summer holiday

We are all at home (DH is a teacher), apart from me. I work part time, and right now the house is messy and dirty and I feel I never get on top of it ever.

In theory everyone "helps"'in the house, in reality it needs a 3 hour clean by me once everyone is back to school, and it stresses me out.

Normally I walk the dog, clean.1 hour, work 4_5 hrs, cook dinner, take dc to club/sport, fit in 1-2 hrs exercise pm or evening for myself. I LIKE those days as there is a balance and a sense of achievement.

We keep having guests as well. And too much holiday food and drinks.

I want my exercise back, but this week we have guests and need to do fun things with them, then I need to go to.my parents a week to help sort their care whilst DH is still at home with the kids

In the meantime I feel so fat and lazy and I eat too many crisps!

Gertie75 · 28/08/2019 07:18

I did ok yesterday, not 100% but much better than the last few months, the only junk I ate was an ice cream and 2 of the kids little lollipops, not great but that's a fraction of the picking I usually do.

I'm determined to not have any junk at all today.

KickOffTheSundayShoes · 28/08/2019 09:23

Sorry I have no tips on the food. I had no breakfast, Mcdonalds for lunch, pringles, hummus, Haribo and chocolate for dinner, then thought I might get scurvy so ate an apple!

You are my kind of person! Grin Wine

Howlongtillbedtime · 28/08/2019 10:07

I am definitely not artistic with the bullet journal. It is basically a glorified notebook with many lists. I feel better if I can tick things off. It helps me feel organised.

I had a good day yesterday
Managed the gym and stuck to 16:8
Tackled my ironing pile as well which was massive.
Visitors have left today so my plan is housework first and if I can get out for a walk or to the gym I will do that too.

Kim82 · 28/08/2019 10:20

Oooh, can I join please? I work 5 days a week, have 4 kids, need to get back into budgeting and need to lose a good 4.5 stone! The school holidays and having all 4 dc’s birthdays in that time has completely blown our usual budget, the house is a mess and our eating habits have been absolutely shocking!

I’m still sitting in my pjs having just scoffed some hot, buttery toast and a packet of crisps so need to get my arse in gear. I’m going to make a healthy, home made curry for dh to heat up for tea tonight (I’m at work 1pm - 6.30pm) rather than just let him shove something beige in the oven.

And I’m going to get off my backside right now, get showered, pop to the shop for milk then get cooking. Thanks for giving me the motivation I was looking for this morning!

I might even make a salad to take to work for my lunch...
