I need to get my act together - anyone else?!

I really need to get my act together - my house is a mess and needs a bloody good clean, I don't look after myself properly so always feel scruffy, I'm overweight since having 2 DC and I permanently feel stressed and like I have no control over anything.

So I am going to take back control. I would like to be an oasis of calm and serenity, preferably 2.5 stone lighter, obviously much slimmer, with decent hair, nails and eyebrows, a lovely clean house and the ability to turn down a chocolate bar once in a while. I also want to be able to wear a bikini on holiday next year without feeling quite so wobbly. It starts today!

Anyone else up for it? Grin

I always forget how long colds go on for @MillieMoodle! After a day or two I think "oh, I'll be feeling better soon" but no, after a week I'm still feeling like death Sad

No progress here really. House is reasonably tidy but like yours, could do with a good clean. However so many things have gone wrong this week (washing machine, hot water, TV, tumble dryer) that frankly I'm just waiting for the next one! Plus I had to spend a morning at school which threw out my cleaning schedule. Going to make a cracking 'to do' list before I go to bed though! The big items are:

  • finish cleaning kitchen
  • finish tidying up garden - about half way through
  • clean utility room
  • sort out the loft

Oh and weight loss is..... not progressing Blush

I'm usually ok after about 3 days, or at least on the mend @RubySlippers77. Starting to feel slightly better now but still full of snot. Yuck.

Exercise has gone out of the window as have been so exhausted and achey. So has housework. Am looking forward to feeling more with it, hopefully in the next couple of days.

My weight loss goal was to lose 2.5 stone before our holiday next summer. We booked through TUI but the flights were Thomas Cook so we are waiting to see what is going to happen. I just keep thinking of all those poor people who have lost their jobs today Sad

How is everyone else doing?

Glad you're feeling a bit better @MillieMoodle! I got soaked on the school run this morning - absolutely wet through to the skin - hoping it'll have burned some extra calories.....

I know, those poor Thomas Cook employees Sad I've worked for a company which went under and it was a sad, sad experience. A couple of friends are losing their half term holidays too; they'll get their money back from TC, but not quickly enough to book anything else, and of course other companies have already hiked up their prices Angry

Just plodding on here trying to feel a bit more organised. Washing machine is finally fixed but I have days' worth to get through, no tumble dryer and torrential rain..... the dishwasher has been on twice a day to cope with the cooking mess (been doing more cooking from scratch) and the house is relatively tidy apart from the kitchen. The DC are with PIL on Thursday, I'm hoping to crack through a lot of bits then.

Haven't dared get on the scales but hopefully by Friday things will have improved!!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Are you feeling better now @MillieMoodle? Any news on your holiday?

MillieMoodle · 30/09/2019 07:01

@RubySlippers77 feeling much better now thanks! Have had quite a busy weekend, managed to do day 1 of the 30 day shred on Friday night but haven't barely been able to walk the last two days Grin God knows how people manage to do it every day! I'm starting with once a week. Haven't eaten too much junk and had a lovely catch up with friends on Saturday night.

Holiday-wise we're just waiting to see what TUI do to sort out a flight.

This week I feel more motivated to get things done, so am planning to list a load of stuff on FB selling sites and try to clear the spare room out a bit.

How's it going with you?

I had a virus for a few days but I'm better now. Had a massive tidy up yesterday and did loads of washing.

I've decided that my weight loss goal is one single pou d lower than my weight today. Anything else feels impossible. Maybe I'll write a best selling book about this technique and make millions.

RubySlippers77 · 01/10/2019 09:36

Glad you are both feeling better @MillieMoodle and @CanISpeakToYourManager! I fell into the junk food over the weekend with the arrival of AF, but have been cracking through the other organising stuff. I feel a storming 'to do' list coming on Smile

The loft is much tidier and I'm deciding what to do with all our baby stuff as I don't think I'll get round to having any more babies..... always wanted another but the DTs are hard work enough on their own!! A lady who lives locally makes keepsake blankets which is a lovely idea, hoping to sort out enough for that.

Money-wise October will be a tight month with plenty of birthdays, some Christmas outings to pay for already and half term lurking at the end. Does anyone have an app they could recommend to keep track of outgoings? I only need something simple, everything I can find seems over the top.

Good luck with the book CanI! Personally I have my hopes pinned on Euromillions tonight Grin

RubySlippers77 · 02/10/2019 23:20

It's been a tough couple of days here - DTS2 vomited everywhere yesterday and DTS1 is having absolute meltdowns after school (nursery - they only go mornings - who knows what he'd be like after a full day!!). Today he pushed one of the other DC in his class twice and his DM was not impressed - I mean neither was I and told him so, but I also had a sick child in a buggy, there was a limit to what I could do! So his behaviour is another thing to go on the worry list Sad

I went out this evening to a careers workshop, enjoyed it possibly due to the free wine but came home to the house still in a state. It's the second time this year that I've been out in the evening and DP still couldn't get off his arse to help with anything. I am very grumpy!

MillieMoodle · 10/10/2019 20:32

@RubySlippers77 sorry you have been having a rough time. I hope your DC are better now? How is everything going?

I've been quite good on the not eating too much junk food front, and have mostly stopped snacking in the evenings. Have also started doing some crunches in the evening in an effort to regain some tone to my stomach muscles. I'll have rock hard abs behind 3 inches of fat GrinI also managed to do the 30 day shred one evening when DH and DS1 were out. My plan is to try and do it on Fridays when they're at football. Once a week is better than nothing!

Budget wise, DH has got us back on track so I think I'm ok there.

Cleaning wise the house is still in need of a good clean but I have started to sort out my wardrobe in the hope of clearing some space to store more junk.

Have been feeling quite exhausted and detached recently, like life is passing me by a bit so I'm not sure how to get out of that rut. We are going away for half term so hoping that will snap me out of whatever is going on.

Is anyone else still there?!
