What drives you mad about MNers?

I woke up grumpy today and reading some posts is making me grumpier. Perhaps I'm turning into a curmudgeon. But sometimes I read posts and think "Good grief, woman, you don't help yourself, do you?"

The gems that seem to pop up with alarming regularity: "We live rurally and I don't drive" in a post complaining of a lack of access to, well, anything really.

Or: "We don't have any family close by to babysit so DH and I haven't been out on our own since 2004." Do what we all do then and pay for a babysitter!

Ugh. This heat is making me grouchy. Anything make you want to shake another MNer?

Careful, Mrsjayy, you'll get someone coming on saying 'it's "need TO BE punched". I can't stand this use of language' Grin

Andylion · 27/07/2019 21:08

omg yes to the alcohol thing!!! There's real judgement on MN surrounding that. I once contributed to a thread about drinking and was told in no uncertain terms I was an alcoholic.

Then there are the posters who suggest the OP have a glass of wine (or a piece of cake) as if that will help them deal with all their problems.

"You poor thingWineCake"

LaMarschallin · 27/07/2019 21:13

"Call the police!"

For everything.

farmlotto · 27/07/2019 21:14

It has to be the ones who say "please"

" please don't name your kid that"
"Please go to the doctors"
" please leave your dh"

Or the ones who say LTB because of something petty. Doesn't register that these people have a life, kids, house together and have been married for 20 years LTB because he forgot to put out the wheelie bin when it's his chore 🙄

I hate the " I have NC because its outing"! Errr no, no one knows you or gives a shit love.

I also hate the clearly obvious troll posts where they are in desperate need of help but come on here waiting for peoples reactions. Like ringing The Police on 101 on a Friday Night, and had a complete conversation with officers en route, and back on MN to update within 10 minutes! Just No, after working in Comms you would be lucky to get a non urgent call answered on the busiest night of the week within half an hour. But some people still fall for it.

The “am I pregnant?” threads. Usually something like “I had sex ten minutes ago, I’ve got sore boobs and cravings for chalk, but I haven’t done a test”.

Yes!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Andylion · 27/07/2019 21:18

sigh

Drives me up the wall!

Quaffy · 27/07/2019 21:19

Those who go on about how little they eat. Someone will post asking for eg suggestions for takeaway order, and people will be along to say “do people really eat that much, if I have a takeaway I order a starter and I can’t manage it all”

Ragwort · 27/07/2019 21:21

The double standards when men post;

Man - my wife doesn’t want sex - replies; do you do enough housework, no one ‘needs’ sex, do you show her affection, can’t you just sort yourself out.

Woman - my husband doesn’t want sex - replies; you deserve a fulfilling sex life, LTB.

sonjadog · 27/07/2019 21:22

On dog threads, the answer is always to get a dog walker. Not everywhere has dog walkers. There are none where I live, and I don't live out in the sticks.

I was also told off on a dog thread where I said that sometimes take my dog out with me and he stays in the car with the window down an inch or two. Apparently this meant my dog would get stolen. Dog theft is not an issue where I live. I know of no dog that ever was stolen. But this poster refused to believe me and I was wrong about that. In spite of not knowing where I live.

NoSauce · 27/07/2019 21:22

Agree that posting just ‘.’ is a dick move on a serious thread

Haven’t seen this. What is it a little face?

AbbyNormal · 27/07/2019 21:23

Those who spit their coffee out/wake their baby from laughing so much at something on here that really isn't that funny. I've read some actual laugh out loud things on here over the years but I've never managed to wake anyone up. I imagine someone laughing manically while holding a cup of coffee.

Those who share what their DH thinks. "OP, I've just asked DH and he thinks..." Okay, great, thank you for sharing the opinion of someone completely irrelevant to this discussionSmile

LatteLove · 27/07/2019 21:26

The very high proportion of MNetters with “extremely bright”, “advanced”, “genius” children.

LaMarschallin · 27/07/2019 21:28

Those who spit their coffee out/wake their baby from laughing so much at something on here that really isn't that funny.

Oh yes!
And also those that cry with laughter at people who disagree with them. When the only thing they're crying with are tears of anger and the only thing they're spitting is bile.

I'm not a great fan of the Hmm emoji either. I often want to warn them that, if the wind changes, they'll stay like that.

x2boys · 27/07/2019 21:29

And the judgemental twats about takeaways ,I once saw an op.asking about takeaways asking what to order from Kfc and it got ridiculous about how unhealthy it was .

fortheloveofPete · 27/07/2019 21:31

"is this a line?"

FFS, wait a week then poas again for god's sake. If still not sure, go to your GPor better yet, wait a few more days and piss on anither stick.

OooErMissus · 27/07/2019 21:32

I once saw an op.asking about takeaways asking what to order from Kfc

For my part, people who post on MN asking what to get from the takeaway. Confused

In fact, the things some people start threads about makes me wonder how they're able to cross the road unaided.

ChristOnAScooter · 27/07/2019 21:33

Oh and i hate MIL Bashing threads, because as another pp already said, if their own mum did this there would be no issues.

I also hate non medics give blatant wrong advice, or when posters say, oh i have central chest pains, pain in my arm and cannot breathe, what shall i do?

Or, my other half has swallowed an unknown tablet and does not feel well, what shall i do?Confused

MarthasGinYard · 27/07/2019 21:37

Once that tell you to just

'Batch cook'

I'd like to swipe em'

fortheloveofPete · 27/07/2019 21:38

Calls for LTB when it's most likely a single issue that's the result of him having a shit day and taking it out on the poster....you know, like the rest of us do unintentionally.

LatteLove · 27/07/2019 21:39

People who have to tell us how expensive London is and how the £250000 salary doesn’t really go that far there

MarthasGinYard · 27/07/2019 21:40

I also detest the 'lighthearted' thread type titles such as

'DH just ate my last posh choc what should I do?

Bring on all the
LTB an twee twunty shit brigade

Soola · 27/07/2019 21:41

Dishonest people on clothing threads when the person is large.

It’s seems to be ok to have constructive criticism when someone is not overweight but the minute a fat person makes a post everyone starts gushing how lovely they look.

Er no, it’s three sizes too small and you look like it’s taken four hours and a tub of Vaseline to squeeze into that hideous nylon frock.

Just be honest and say it’s not a good look and suggest something more appropriate that would fit.
