Has anyone noticed a difference switching to bar soap?

A few weeks ago I stopped using shower gel and face wash and use only soap now (dove beauty if interested).
I have noticed that even in the heat we have had I am hardly sweating. And I have also noticed that my sparse eyebrows are definitely thickening up for the first time in years! Is this likely to do with the soap? I did notice it says sulphate free on the box.

Nesti Dante fans, which ones are your favourites? I like Portofino and the peach and melon one. I haven't been able to sniff very many (I sound so sad) as the range is pretty limited where I am. Would like to order some new ones online so all recommendations welcome!

I had a set given to me,I think it was the romantic collection- love them all. I'll see if I can find a link...

Typos 🙄

Does anyone know if caster oil is a bad ingredient in soap?

MrsElizabethShelby · 10/07/2019 13:25

Unscented Lidl bar soap here. I want to try bar shampoo but currently struggling to justify the cost

BayandBlonde · 10/07/2019 13:32

I use Pears shower gel and hand wash but after reading this thread I'm going to try soap Grin

I put my soap in soap savers from Hippy Chick. THey are flannel on on each side and cotton on the other and the soap goes inside.

Each member of the family have their own.

Has anyone noticed a difference switching to bar soap?

And that should read flannel on ONE side 🙄

MulticolourMophead · 10/07/2019 13:52

I've seen similar soap savers, but made from materials like sisal instead, apparently for good scrubbing. I was thinking of getting a few.

UnderOverUnderRover · 10/07/2019 14:25

@Rachelover40 just water.

Sakura7 · 10/07/2019 14:53

Thanks LoafofSellotape - I'm always tempted by the sets but it would take me ages to get through them. I suppose they don't exactly go off though!

Seren10 · 10/07/2019 15:25

I use the White Company Seychelles soap to wash my face in the shower as I have oily skin and find it clears it up nicely.

Love the smell too!

missbattenburg · 10/07/2019 15:57

@dinoslippers

Castor oil is used, in very small amounts, to create bubbles.

It makes the end bar of soap all bubbly when you use it. Too much castor oil and the bar of soap will be too soft and slimy when wet. Often it's just used as 1-3% of the total oils used. That way, it doesn't result in a soft bar but is enough to create all those bubbles.

I use Simple bar soap on my face, followed by either Simple rich moisturiser if wearing make up or neutrogena hydro gel cream. People comment that I look younger than I am.

I use imperial leather or Palmolive bar soap in the shower.

Would never go back to shower gel! Also not a fan of Dove - too slippery and slimy!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 10/07/2019 18:35

Sakura7, get the sets! I've had Romantica, Philosophia and a Sicilia set. Got loads stashed in my wardrobes etc and I entirely guessed on smells because they were off Amazon. I haven't been disappointed with a single one.

Sakura7 · 10/07/2019 19:16

BobbinThreadbare123 Good to know, thanks! I'm eyeing up the Toscana one at the mo...

ElGuardiandenoche · 14/07/2019 00:07

Meant to say that I use Friendly soap in my Soap Saver as it’s palm oil free.
