As an antidote to the irrational hatred thread Wink. I'll start.

Tins of Princes Tuna that are both drained, and have a funky pull lid (not metal) that made me kneel down and weep with joy.

Alice Flowers

This has turned out so much better than I thought it would. So lovely that there is so much joy in the little things in life. Sounds cheesy but it's true.

Two words.

Clean sheets.

Giggorata · 14/07/2019 00:11

Swifts, screaming across the summer sky.

That moment when the last bird fall silent, the sky is indigo, and the night smell comes in.

Labradors in the sea.

The feeling when all the family is at home, and have gone to bed, on Christmas Eve.

You don't get this any more, but as a child, hearing the fog horn.

A pot of tea in the morning with DH.

CodLiverOil556 · 14/07/2019 00:25

I have a new bloke and the first kiss he gives me after we haven't seen each other for a few days is devine

LaVieEstBelle159 · 14/07/2019 00:27

Fabulous thread OP, thank you Smile

That first cup of tea. A proper cup of coffee later in the day. Lemon drizzle cake. Having smooth feet. Lip balm. Getting into bed at night and knowing there's ages before you have to go to sleep! Lots of books to read on my Kindle. A big hug when I need it from DH. Knowing my 84 year old wonderful DM is healthy and happy x

It's the little things.

angelfacecuti75 · 14/07/2019 00:41

Microwave rice , bagged salad, flash magic sponges, my smartphone and the way you can almost always sort most things out on the internet e.g. pay bills, talk to friends etc
..

Teacher22 · 14/07/2019 05:25

I have posted a list of things but wanted to say what an amazing thread this is and that I would add another great thing is knowing I live amongst such appreciative, sensitive, grateful people who find such happiness is the small and wonderful things of life. Social media and media comments’ sections often bring out the worst in people and this thread has brought out the best.

Cherry trees (or any flowering trees) in full bloom in the Spring. I love standing underneath their canopies and just gazing up and breathing in the beauty. To be fair I adore Spring in general!

Catching sight of complete strangers making small loving gestures towards their loved ones, like a parent ruffling a child's hair and gazing at them fondly, or an adult child tucking a blanket around an elderly parent's knees and giving them a reassuring pat.

LauderSyme · 14/07/2019 05:44

And gorgeous sunsets and a particular time of day between dusk and twilight. And birds eating nuts from the feeders hanging on the birdtable and Mrs Fox who visits my parent's garden and wolfs down leftovers we throw to her and brings her babies to play.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 14/07/2019 05:58

Sunrise on the dew

The sound of my children giggling uncontrollably

Reusable nappies hanging on the outdoor line

Not setting the alarm

Sunday after church coffee with a kit kat and, if lucky, getting round to the Saturday paper

A little tool I have for hulling strawberries. Best “gimmick” ever.

madroid · 14/07/2019 06:15

My quilted bedspread that's just right when it's too warm for a duvet.

My travel coffee cup that ds1 bought me for my birthday that has cheered up my morning commute no end.

Starting a new project at work and the mix of excitement and anxiety about how it will work out.

The beautiful rose I trained up the trellis by the front door.

My cat running to greet me when he hears my car coming home. (I know it's only because he'll be fed😀)

Snails and their stately progress in the evening as they slide up the stalk of my hollyhock.

Clean clothes and fresh hair washed

Losing weight and the frsh energy it gives you.

A good chat with your oldest friend.

The lemon bulldog shower wash I use for my morning shower. Never tire of it's freshness.

Learning a new recipe and eating the results.

EatsShoootsAndLeaves · 14/07/2019 06:47

The sound from the splashes and swooshes of walking ankle deep through the shore line.
Breaking the seal on a coffee lid and breathing in the smell.
Having completely shaved legs and stretching out in fresh sheets.
@giggorata the fog horn noise still happens here, and without fail at the strike of midnight on new years, all the boats in the waterway have a little foghorn sing-song!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 14/07/2019 06:56

Lovely thread ❤️

Touching just feet in bed.

Seeing the outline of the top of the heads of my DGS's through the stained glass front door. Anticipation of that first coffee in the morning.

Approaching home on the train, and the swell if emotion it brings.
MN, when it gives me threads like this.

Life is good.

kshaw · 14/07/2019 07:04

Rabbits live under my work building and run around the bit of greenery. Something about seeing a rabbit on a morning in the middle of a city centre that cheers you up

WoollyMummoth · 14/07/2019 07:21

This is such a wonderful life affirming thread!
Mine are:
Hearing the key turn in the lock when dh or dcs come in from work or school.
Dcat offering me his paw when he wants attention( and knowing that he loves me the most!!)
Sitting on the doorstep when it’s raining to let my feet get gently rained on.
Slightly weird- when my teenagers ask for their feet stroking when we’re all chilling with Netflix.

bettyrollinscampbandage · 14/07/2019 07:24

Pool noodles. A couple of quid but totally versatile. Amazing for kids learning to swim. Nice for parents to muck around on when floating nearby.

Took me ages to realise this was not about pot noodles. I was imagining how floating a pot noodle in a swimming pool was in any way comforting Grin

A cartridge/vial of insulin.

bettyrollinscampbandage · 14/07/2019 07:34

I love:
Any flowering plant - especially good if strongly perfumed.
Mist on a loch or lake.
Early mornings (like so many on here!)
Cooking a meal - I like to imagine how much I would have paid for it in a restaurant and consider that a small win.
When my cat loses herself in cuddles and belly rubbing - she's a rescue and I love seeing her relaxed.
I teach, and when a student spends time saying thank you (even if it's just a quick one when walking out the door) - it means so much.
I haven't been abroad on holiday for a long time, but I just love sitting outside a cafe in France/Spain/Italy with bloody good coffee watching people and pretending I'm chic.
And yes - back in the UK that first cup of instant coffee on my poor sore throat is just divine.
Small pleasures

missmouse101 · 14/07/2019 07:43

Taking a pair of my folded fresh Sloggi BIG pants from my drawer after a shower. When you pull them on, they are so soft yet hugging and completely comfortable. I actually sigh out loud with delight.

Spanglyprincess1 · 14/07/2019 07:50

Smelling an old fashioned rose. Pretty n devine.
A hug from my mom, yes I'm 36 but it's still ace.
Frogs, love um

headinhands · 14/07/2019 07:52

Hearing the dc really laughing together.

Seeing my eldest daughter looking out for my youngest
I’m beginning to appreciate early mornings and the things you see at that time of day after being a definite non-morning person my whole life
The vegetables we are growing
That moment when the kids have gone to bed, the living room is tidy and we’ve just got the lamp on and it feels all cosy and lovely
Pretty skies in the morning make my heart sing
My cats - I spend so much time just staring at these little orange creatures marvelling at how wonderful they are and I just love knowing they have a safe and happy life here and will always be loved and adored until forever
My kids excitement at seeing a dog even out of the car window but especially if it’s when we’re out and about and it’s one they can clap
Definitely libraries and the knowing that you could read every book in there if you wanted to
Going out for breakfast
That Friday night feeling when you know you’re not at work the next day - bonus points for the Friday before a week off, that’s next level.

ifigoup · 14/07/2019 08:05

Going for a drive at 6am on a summer Sunday with no other cars on the road and feeling like the only person in the world. I did it this morning and saw a massive fox - it felt like we shared a secret.

Newmum3200 · 14/07/2019 08:28

Summer mornings when you wake up with the window open and can hear birds and even better, wood pigeons cooing. And listening to the kids playing in the garden. Just reminds me of my childhood.
