Does? I'm in a few facebook groups and in nearly everyone, " dose anyone know a recipe" or " dose anyone know a good film" I so want to correct that one word, but that doesn't make you many friends Grin

On a par with ‘I’m selling these draws I brought’
Drawers, Bought!!!!!!

Pipandmum · 03/07/2019 14:31

I think it’s auto correct and people don’t reread before posting. It happens all the time on these very pages!

MagicKingdom17 · 03/07/2019 14:31

I have noticed lots of people mix up “definitely” with “defiantly”.

SunkissedCherry · 03/07/2019 14:34

Barging is the one that gets on my tits. ‘Found this amazing barging today, only 50p!’. Do people actually pronounce it this way?!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 03/07/2019 14:36

Chester draws, anyone?

Haworthia · 03/07/2019 14:39

Before the age of autocorrect, I used to see all sorts of garbled attempts at “definitely”. Now they all seem to autocorrect to “defiantly”. Which begs the question, shouldn’t autocorrect software just opt for “definitely” instead? Grin

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 03/07/2019 14:40

I wondered why a friend always writes defiantly when we use the word definitely so much more

Newmumma83 · 03/07/2019 14:40

For me it’s a combination of dyslexia and auto correct issues that cause this

PortiaCastis · 03/07/2019 14:42

Dyslexia

Bezalelle · 03/07/2019 14:43

"I don't like being taken for granite"

Gingernaut · 03/07/2019 14:46

I've seen a few "chester draws" lately, but to be fair, there are a lot of people who speak English as a second language.

Relying on the English people round here to tell you how to spell something, is like asking Dan Quayle to spell 'potato'.

Stationeryqueen · 03/07/2019 14:54

After the passing of my Sister, I received a genuine & lovely card from a relative suggesting they were now among the angles in heaven.

I was showing my Parents & DDad piped up - knowing your Sister it will be all the obtuse ones.

TBH we all had to laugh, My fantastic & much loved Sister could be a little toad at times.

My SPAG is bad, I now tend to type messages then hand-write them into cards. It gives me a chance to mess with the content at the same time.

amusedbush · 03/07/2019 14:54

I've been looking for a new desk online and you wouldn't believe how many people post in the Q&A section "can you change the handles on the draws?"/"how deep are the draws?"

ARGH.

Sux2buthen · 03/07/2019 15:18

I've just been looking at a lovely 'scare electrics' racing set 😏

Finfintytint · 03/07/2019 15:22

One poster on a gardening page got ribbed for asking about suggestions for erotic plants.

Bookworm4 · 03/07/2019 15:27

@Stationeryqueen
The angles, that’s funny especially an obtuse one 🤣😇

DontCallMeShitley · 03/07/2019 15:45

Bare with me (errr no thanks).

ALongHardWinter · 03/07/2019 15:47

The one that annoys me that I see countless times is 'to' and 'too'.

babynumber2onboard · 03/07/2019 15:52

My biggest bugbear is 'on route'. It really winds me up!

RaeCJ82 · 03/07/2019 15:55

I can't believe how many people use 'of' instead of 'have'. That, and the overuse of 'yourself' and 'myself' when a simple 'you' or 'me' would do, are my grammar pet peeves!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 03/07/2019 15:58

I think that autocorrect can be responsible for some errors, but not those such as ‘rediculous’. Do people pronounce it that way? Having typed it, I see that a red line is underneath. Maybe people don’t notice?

ComtesseDeSpair · 03/07/2019 16:08

Some people weren’t fortunate enough to have received a good education or to have been parented by people who were able (because of their own learning difficulties or inadequate schooling or language problems or health or stability or any one of such similar reasons) to help them with their learning. I’m not sure what’s so unbelievable about that. And if you don’t know that you’re spelling something incorrectly in the first place, you aren’t going to think you need to do anything about it.

And as an aside - we teach children to read and write through phonics: so I don’t think it’s paetocilarly surprising that some adults might sound out unknown words according to their own accent or dialect and then write them down accordingly.

Paultrybudget · 03/07/2019 16:09

I find it irritating when people don't know the difference between 'lose' and 'loose'.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 03/07/2019 16:18

Many of the errors are highlighted when typing though, so wouldn’t you notice?

NameChangeNugget · 03/07/2019 16:19

They sound like utter cults...
