Staying in Liverpool this Wed for one or 2 nights with dh, he wants to do the beatles stuff and the docks

Small budget but really don't want a shitheap have had enough of them in the past. First trip away without kids.
Have looked at village hotel, we like the pool there. We'll be driving down from Scotland, is the village hotel handy for getting into the docks?

I seen deals on Groupon but they are either expensive 179 for 2 nights titanic hotel, bit posh for me, or 1 night 42,days inn, awful reviews
Want something in the middle

Jury’s inn is nice, affordable and close to the docks.

Bourbonbiccy · 30/06/2019 12:09

The crowne plaza is ok, we had a nice stay.

tomboytown · 30/06/2019 12:10

Only village hotel I can find is in Whiston? Nowhere near the city, nowhere near to a train station to get into the city.

There’s loads in city centre

I stayed in the shankly Hotel. It's good value comfy huge beds. Walking distance to everything and if you like football it's full of football memorabilia.

ssd · 30/06/2019 12:23

Shankly Hotel sounds like dhs idea of heaven

tomboytown · 30/06/2019 12:32

Yeh that Village hotel is nowhere near the centre of town!

ssd · 30/06/2019 12:35

Yes. Didn't realise it was so far out. We're driving so would need somewhere with parking. Have just looked at the Shankly, the only room we could have is for 4 people, not sure about the parking there either. Dh would love it though

OP posts:
ssd · 30/06/2019 12:36

Wonder if we could park the car there and leave it and wander around?

OP posts:
tomboytown · 30/06/2019 12:44

There’s lots of city centre parking, so you could drive in, but traffic could be a pain and a city centre hotel would be so convenient.

Nemesia1264 · 30/06/2019 13:07

City centre parking is expensive unless your hotel has designated parking.

ssd · 30/06/2019 13:08

Yes you're right, the driving in would be a pain. Is there anyway I could find hotels at short notice?

Not sure what the current rates are but Hard Days Night is fab for Beatles stuff, they often do packages with the Cavern or the tour bus, and is central. You park in Liverpool One and it’s a short walk across.

mrsjackrussell · 30/06/2019 13:10

Could you get a train there?

ssd · 30/06/2019 13:11

Thanks I'll look that up

I stayed at the Liner Hotel recently. Good location, free parking and breakfast for two for £60. Nice hotel too.

ssd · 30/06/2019 13:14

Just looked its nice but too pricey for us.

OP posts:
ssd · 30/06/2019 13:14

Probably cheaper to drive?

OP posts:
ssd · 30/06/2019 13:20

Liner hotel looks great, what's the breccy like?

OP posts:
Slatkater · 30/06/2019 13:22

Typical hotel buffet, eat as much as you want.

JanetandJohn500 · 30/06/2019 13:24

The Liner is right next to the station. It has a big car park (you probably have to pay but I doubt it's £££). I've never stayed.
Under no circumstances be tempted by The Adelphi 😂 It looks grand but it's a shithole

Slatkater · 30/06/2019 13:27

The Liner hotel has its own car park and is free for residents. Yes right next to train station but I didn’t hear any trains while we were there.

Just put your dates in Expedia or tripadvisor
