Which book makes you sigh when your child picks it up?

There are a few books I hate reading, usually the overly long ones. My DS loves a massive octonauts book but it goes on forever! He also loves Babar which is cute but the stories are weird, a bit racist and written in really tricky french handwriting.

Which books do you dread your DC choosing?

The Geronimo Stilton books. Stupid and not in a clever way. Just full of really bad puns and terrible jokes.

That "Bear Hunt" book reads like the sort of thing I would scrawl down if someone handed me a notepad and pen and said "OK, you have 15 minutes, could you just quickly dash out some kind of a children's book? It doesn't have to be good or anything, right, just bung anything down, huh?"

Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely book and I loved it myself as a child, but DS wants it 3-4 times a day at the moment...

Little Miss Fucking Fickle and all the other Little Miss and Mr Men books. Long, boring and often sexist.

Guess How Much I Love You.

Pretty much every book, tbh. I thought I'd love reading to my children but I hate it with the fire of a million suns.

Any of those dreadful supermarket picture books about diggers, trains, cars, volcanoes etc. They all seem to have stupid little dull factoids in them like 'the Eurostar travels 15000 miles a week and will travel enough miles in a year to go round the world 5/10/50' (insert correct number here) 'times'. I mean, who cares how many grains of sand or tons of horse shit is in a digger's load, eh? enough horse shit in the book already
