What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

My dads name was Trevor, I’ve never met a younger one

When meeting my ds step sisters boyfriend I thought his name was Blaine but it turned out to be Blade

mumdom · 26/06/2019 23:39

I’m 45 and still known by the toddler mispronunciation of my name.

DD has friends called Dolphin (Jonathan) and Yellow Pee (Penelope).

Crochetcrochetcrochet · 26/06/2019 23:42

Similarly, a nursery friend called 'Llama' 5urned out to be Alana. 'Domino' a helper at Messy church is actually Dominic. But Mars who goes to Breakfast club is called Mars.

Fairy - tits wins 😁

Don't understand the comments about Keith, it only makes me think of Keith Flint from The Prodigy.

I have a knee jerk reaction of simply despising the name Alexis (also on the list but ignored) as it is the surname of my very nasty ex.

To my mind Harry and Jack are the 2 most boring nondescript names ever but really, my personal taste is irrelevant to their parents.

ssd · 26/06/2019 23:48

In my part of Scotland a cowshit is called a pancake 😂

ACPC · 26/06/2019 23:57

Pancake Confused Well its not boring I suppose. My cousin used to tell everyone his baby brother was called Ring Tone, turned out it was because he kept waking up at 5am on the dot wailing and my uncle said he was like a phone alarm going off, a ring tone. He's actually called Jack which just sounds dull in comparison Grin

Just remembered ds2 knew a little boy in reception called Vajazzle Hmm which was something Indian along the lines of Vajasper.

DS2 also used to struggle with the concept of twins - when he ended up with a pair of twins in Reception, one of whom was in his class, he was trying to describe them to me when I asked who xxx was- and I got 'well she's the spare one of the same girl in the other class' Grin which made me chuckle (and they were identical twins who were very very similar]

Fairy tits omg 😂😂😂😂

FenellaMaxwell · 27/06/2019 02:02

Mentioned this thread to my best friend - in addition to poor little Anal/Annaliese, they’ve also had a little girl called Norman, whose name turned out to be Nora, and his teacher Miss Elvis. (Ellis)

Dillydallyalltheway · 27/06/2019 07:25

My grandson came home from school on Monday saying he had a new friend that has come to his school and he is called No Balls. DIL asked the teacher yesterday and the little boy is called Nobel!

I can totally see Wendy making a comeback. Polly and Bessie are popular, so...

PineappleSeahorse · 27/06/2019 09:21

"I have male relatives called Richard, Ian, Gary, Nicholas, Christopher, Andrew, Peter, Ernest, John, James, Stephen, Derek, George and David. Only 3 of them are under 50."

Interesting how it varies by area.I'm 35 and in my Scottish Catholic school classes there were a few Ians, two named Nicholas, several Christopher's, a few Andrews, three or so Peters, a Stephen Johns, multiple James, two George's and a few Davids.

Yep, my dad still calls me a nickname, which is how I said my name as a toddler Blush

borninastorm · 27/06/2019 10:17

My DD had a friend called Sir Nigel John.

I was so disappointed to find out he was actually called Elijah-John.

Omfgareyouforreal · 27/06/2019 10:19

Is it maybe 'Patty'

steppemum · 27/06/2019 11:20

when dd2 was born, ds, aged 5 went into school and told his teacher he had a new baby sister called William.
She was somewhat surprised and cam out at the end of the day to check with dh.
No, we weren't starting a new trend of girls with boys names, she was called Miriam.

Pancake is awful, but I know an Angel and a Bliss, and I just can't understand those either.

One of ds friends (now teens) has a proper old man name, not remotely fashionable, really awful, I often wonder where it came from as his sisters have nice names!

BadBadger · 27/06/2019 11:31

NCed for this as it's very outing in our area, DD is friends with a boy called Indiana Jones and also has a friend called Santa (I did double check that was her real name and wasn't a nickname.)

The only one she got mixed up with when she was little was a boy Ellison who she called Alison but that's not that far off.

My parents' neighbour's son came out with a good one when he was young, he kept saying if you died you would see Gordon. After a lot of questioning which led to him getting very exasperated, he said "Don't you know? It's Gordon Jesus up in heaven!"

Natsku · 27/06/2019 12:35

SeaToSki

27 people with my first and last name in the US. One or fewer with DD's and DS's names though

TremblingFanjo · 27/06/2019 12:48

oh dear Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/06/2019 13:02

I was once asked by an adult if Dd's name is short for Olivia, her name is Niamh, it was once also spelt Knife, again by an adultConfused

Soola · 27/06/2019 13:06

@BadBadger
I know two Santa’s. It’s a proper name.

The name Santa is a girl's name of Spanish, Italian origin meaning "saint“.

Guff · 27/06/2019 13:07

'John-a-Jik' ....... Dominic

Baddabingbaddaboom · 27/06/2019 13:07

How on earth would Niamh be short for Olivia? People really don't engage their brain...

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 27/06/2019 13:40

The other week I was shopping and heard "Barriella! Stop it!" I was like "WTF? Surely not?!" I turned into the next aisle and the personalised changing bag hanging on the buggy in front of me confirmed that I had indeed, heard correctly and this toddlers name is Barriella.

Barriella
