What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

Now wondering what would happen if Pancake met Tart and married and had children, what would they be called???

Would they go down the Cronut route or Pantart? Tarake?
Or completely different baked treats? (scone? Bun?)

Or something incredibly opposite and old fashioned definite name - Brian? Jane?

Have the worst pregnancy anxiety today and this thread made me laugh out loud so thanks for that 😂😂

Agree that I would rather be called pancake than Keith 😂 though he is probably named after someone significant that the parents just liking the name

When DD2 was at nursery she was always talking about her friend Brian. Turns out he was Ryan.

DS2 went to nursery with a little girl that the staff all called Plum. OK, different. Found out many years later her real name is Victoria.
I was at school with a friend we nicknamed (with affection) Mothball.
I have worked with a Dimple (female, 30s) and an Elsie (20s), and have met a boy called Blu, who will be 20s now. And a former colleague had a dog called Keith, which I thought was really cool.
Feel sorry for Pancake.

We had an “Idiot” at preschool.

Urban myth but still charming, child told mother the teacher's new baby was called Spot. Surprised, the Mum queried it with the Teacher, only to be told the baby's name was Mark.

fblake · 26/06/2019 20:49

Freezer?!

JeanieJardine55 · 26/06/2019 20:57

Ds3’s middle name is Keith.

SingingSands · 26/06/2019 21:02

DS used to ask us if he could play with "Duckling".

He meant "Declan".

Freezer?!

Yup. He's probably about 23 now 😂

Putyourdamnshoeson · 26/06/2019 21:10

My daughter insisted that there was a boy called Nacho in her class, we laughed. Thought of all the things if could be. Then Nacho left and went back to live in SpainHmm
I'm calling my next one Kettle Chip.

MiraculousMarinette · 26/06/2019 21:15

I really don't get all this Keith bashing.

I used to know a Keith who insisted his name is pronounced Kate. His wife and everyone else called him Kate. I went along with it but it always puzzled me.

Mamorau · 26/06/2019 21:18

My son had a little friend called gravy....turns out her real name was Ivy

SeaToSki · 26/06/2019 21:22

If you want a giggle try this web site

www.howmanyofme.com

Its US only and pulls data from social security (NI equivalent)

There are only 9 people in the US with the same first and last names as me Grin

SeaToSki · 26/06/2019 21:23

If you assume Pancake is actually Pancake and you use Jones for the last name - there are 8 of them in the US Shock

Itssosunny · 26/06/2019 21:26

Spot = Mark , lol Grin

Itssosunny · 26/06/2019 21:29

Think Keith pronounced like Kate would be more like Kat(h)e not -ee- but -ei-.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 26/06/2019 21:33

Depending on cultural.background, Freezer is believable.

In some countries, especially ex-colonial ones, children are sometimes named after items that are associated with white privilege. I have known people called Mortgage, Telephone and Camera.

RCN1 · 26/06/2019 21:36

My then four year old was keen to invite his friend "Boisson" to his birthday party. We went up and down the coat hooks at school trying to identify him, asked the teacher etc, all to no avail. Turned out he was one of identical twins, and called Eduardo.....

LarryGreysonsDoor · 26/06/2019 21:47

Does anyone else think that Pancake and Keith sounds like a new detective show?

lavalamp08 · 26/06/2019 21:47

When my little boy was at nursery he went on a trip to the park and he sat on the bus with 'birdseed' it took me ages to work out and when I asked who it was, I was told Maxine SmileSmileSmile

JaimeBronde · 26/06/2019 21:58

Larry also makes me think of a kids tv programme like Abney & Teal.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 26/06/2019 22:12

Or Sarah and Duck, with her friends Flamingo and John.

keepingbees · 26/06/2019 22:16

My dd kept talking about her friend Strawberry. Turned out to be Aubrey Grin

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 26/06/2019 22:20

The little girl across the road used to call my Mum and I, Jam and Cake - close enough!
