Afternoon all,

Based in East Sussex, Curious Arts Festival is a family-focused, weekend-long adventure. You can expect talks from fabulous novelists and poet laureates, copious amounts of delicious English sparkling wine, and even some snail-racing. With a host of famous faces taking to the stage (including Suggs from Madness and the author Philippa Perry) this is one weekend not to be missed.

This summer, Curious Arts Festival gave one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win a Family Weekend Ticket for this year's festival, plus £500 spending money.

To be in with a chance of winning, we asked Mumsnetters to post on this thread letting us know which part of the festival they'd be most excited to see.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Curious Arts Festival are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 15% off tickets with code MN152019. Simply follow the above link, choose your tickets, and be sure to enter your code at the point you add them to your basket.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

John Cleese is a huge attraction as he is DH's biggest hero. Personally loving the idea of a midnight bat walk and having a break from the usual 'real world' to experience a bit of culture (with a few G&T's, of course) GinGrin

Mydogsnotfat · 24/06/2019 16:27

I would love to see Such a. He seems to have had a fascinating life . It all sounds rather lovely though.

NeverTwerkNaked · 24/06/2019 16:32

John Cleese definitely! And DH would love Suggs. I love the sound of the Samba party and I think the DC would love the Bat Walk

Gizlotsmum · 24/06/2019 16:46

My daughter loves history, I would love to hear more about the suffragettes and my son just loves nature.

hellswelshy · 24/06/2019 16:48

Love the idea of a mixture of authors, music, beautiful surroundings and Gin of course! My daughters would be ecstatic at the idea of a snail race!Grin

Nameusernameuser · 24/06/2019 16:57

Aw my mum is desperate to go to this, id love to take her with my young siblings. Neither of us can afford it though Grin my sister's would love a midnight bat walk, I love John cleese and I'm sure my mum loves all the speakers there, but a g&t is right up her street too!

Cliffdonville · 24/06/2019 17:09

This looks amazing, I'd love to see Dr Fern Riddell, the Victorian Guide to Sex is a fabulous book

Leeds2 · 24/06/2019 17:25

I'd like to do the midnight bat walk.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 24/06/2019 18:47

Sounds super exciting... I'm in Smile
any excuse to samba the night away under the stars, search for bats under a midnight moon and discover secret hidden pockets of music around every corner. Fabulous fun.

Smellbowpenisbeaker · 24/06/2019 18:50

Murray Lachlan Young is a fantastic poet - I’d love to see him perform live.

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/06/2019 18:55

My dc would love the racing snails.

ILiketheNiceCereal · 24/06/2019 18:58

Oh too much to choose. For my budding feminist teenager, I'd love to meet Nimco Ali. For my environmentalist 9 year old, Bridget Nicholls. For me, alllll the published authors. What an amazing festival.

GreasedPiglet · 24/06/2019 18:59

I'd love to see Philippa Perry - I read her recent book and found it a bit of a game changer.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 24/06/2019 19:02

Oh dear, we appear to be the absolute target family. DH and I are of the age to be very partial to The Blow Monkeys. DS (14) is a huge fan of Madness and Suggs in particular, and DD (16) is, I kid you not, a devotee of Natalie Haynes’ Radio 4 standup show about Ancient Greece and Rome. Peak Mumsnet. And we all love bats and snails.

AlbusPercival · 24/06/2019 19:07

Oh wow this looks totally amazing.

I am obsessed with Philippa Perry’s The Book You Wish Your Parents had Read, I’ve read it three times since it was published.

DS would love all the kids activities

It would also be great to pop over to byline for all the discussions there

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 24/06/2019 19:46

Gina Rippon for me, Suggs for DH!
We love Pippingford, Elderflower Fields and Into the Trees are both amazing festivals so I have high hopes for Curious!

doctorboo · 24/06/2019 22:11

What an amazing line up!

I’d be there for Gina Rippon, dh for the bats and children for the snails.

WilmaJean · 24/06/2019 22:14

John Cleese!!

Katastrophy · 24/06/2019 22:17

Sybil!!!! I would love this and the midnight bat walk

Yotam · 24/06/2019 22:33

We went last year. Love to go again. Be most interested in Gina Rippon and Murray Lachlan Young, but if it’s anything like last year it’s often the things you don’t plan to see are often the best.

frankie001 · 24/06/2019 22:39

John Cleese!

DamnItsSevenAM · 24/06/2019 22:49

I couldn't see the kids' activities via the mobile site so I'd be interested to know what they are.

I was a bit alarmed to see the terms and conditions saying no food to be brought on site! Fussy kids + vegan + gluten free members of the family.... Rather off-putting!

Teaandkittens · 24/06/2019 22:53

Snail racing for the kids!

I would just love the opportunity to be away from Netflix for a couple of nights... I'd definitely read the Philippa Perry book beforehand too (bought it and it's sitting on the shelf untouched at the moment...)

Potsie · 24/06/2019 22:56

My daughter is singing Madness songs in her school choir, so we’d love to see Suggs! The midnight bat walk sounds amazing too.

funkybum · 25/06/2019 07:20

This looks amazing! I would love to see it all, as would the kids. Snail racing would be fab
