Afternoon all,

Based in East Sussex, Curious Arts Festival is a family-focused, weekend-long adventure. You can expect talks from fabulous novelists and poet laureates, copious amounts of delicious English sparkling wine, and even some snail-racing. With a host of famous faces taking to the stage (including Suggs from Madness and the author Philippa Perry) this is one weekend not to be missed.

This summer, Curious Arts Festival gave one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win a Family Weekend Ticket for this year's festival, plus £500 spending money.

To be in with a chance of winning, we asked Mumsnetters to post on this thread letting us know which part of the festival they'd be most excited to see.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Curious Arts Festival are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 15% off tickets with code MN152019. Simply follow the above link, choose your tickets, and be sure to enter your code at the point you add them to your basket.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

I'm in East Sussex, and love all the history in the area.

I have never heard of this, but I like the sound of Yasmine Seale, translator

Also = Suggs..... oh yes

Max Porter just finished his book and it fabulous. This festival looks fantastic!

MockneyReject · 26/06/2019 20:52

Ooh, difficult choice. It's a toss up between Dr Fern Riddell, and snails..

mizu · 26/06/2019 21:00

Nimco Ali for her work on FGM and daughters of Eve organisation for sure. Kirsty Lang.
And for the kids the snail racing but also a chance for a great day out together!!!!!!!

nanbread · 26/06/2019 22:08

Philippa Perry! Total girl crush material. Just finished her book.

Maiyakat · 26/06/2019 22:49

I'd love to hear Lemn Sissay, I think DD would prefer the samba party!

zigzagbetty · 26/06/2019 23:02

Camping in a beautiful part of the world, amazing authors and Suggs! What more could we want!

flameylife · 27/06/2019 00:45

I'd love to explore the wildlife around the festival with Bridget Nicholls and the kids!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 27/06/2019 01:04

They'd be most excited about "going to a festival" as they would think they were very grown up! Youngest DC would find snail racing a mix of baffling, interesting and hilarious, and I'm sure he'd try it at home !

KitschBitch · 27/06/2019 07:09

Would love to do the midnight bat walk! Have been bat fan forever- often get bombarded when hanging out washing at night, yes, I know it will get darked on but happy to take my chances!

FogCutter · 27/06/2019 07:20

The DC would live the bat walk and DP and I would enjoy seeing Suggs.

LoveVelo · 27/06/2019 08:53

Blowmonkeys would be a definite draw, love Dr Robert!
Misha Glenny would also be really interesting, loved his book on dark market/ dark net and always fascinating to listen to when he is on the radio.
John Cleese too!

gingerpaleandproud · 27/06/2019 09:08

The Blow Monkeys! My kids love listening to the music I listened to as a kid so it would be amazing for them see the BM's live. And some of Murray Lachlan Young's excellent poetry Smile

MrsWidgerysLodger · 27/06/2019 09:12

Oh the midnight bat walk sounds brilliant! Given that DD doesn't actually sleep at the moment this may be the perfect distraction!!!

Lindy2 · 27/06/2019 09:16

It all sounds good but the kids would love snail racing.

jacqui5366 · 27/06/2019 13:10

As I am a massive fan of Madness #onestepbeond #princebuster #nightboattocairo #houseoffun I’d love to see Suggs

Viggooooh · 27/06/2019 14:25

All sounds ace. Dd1 would love Suggs and the choral performance and dd2 the snail racing.

Cismyfatarse1 · 27/06/2019 14:29

Matthew Syed - one of my favourite journalists. Plus Lemn Sissay for some sizzling words and also Suggs because you always need a bit of madness at a Festival.

Faithless12 · 27/06/2019 16:16

It was a hard choice however I’m probably most looking forward to Philippa Perry. Like PP I couldn’t see the children’s acts/events.

ThomasRichard · 27/06/2019 16:30

This looks brilliant. I think we’d just love the surroundings. Ashdown forest is great. Who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh?!

sm2012 · 27/06/2019 19:48

I would love to see John Cleese and Matthew Syed. Couldn't find any info about the activities but from what other people have said the bat walk sounds interesting, love seeing bats flying around near where I live but doesn't happen very often.

sunflowerstory · 28/06/2019 13:30

Midnight bat walk!

flamingjune123 · 28/06/2019 13:51

Suggs and the bat walk for me

cuppycakey · 28/06/2019 17:02

I would love to see Kirsty Lang, I think she is very interesting and has had a fascinating life. Also - another vote for the amazing Suggs!

livingthegoodlife · 28/06/2019 21:38

Suggs!
