Afternoon all,

Based in East Sussex, Curious Arts Festival is a family-focused, weekend-long adventure. You can expect talks from fabulous novelists and poet laureates, copious amounts of delicious English sparkling wine, and even some snail-racing. With a host of famous faces taking to the stage (including Suggs from Madness and the author Philippa Perry) this is one weekend not to be missed.

This summer, Curious Arts Festival gave one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win a Family Weekend Ticket for this year's festival, plus £500 spending money.

To be in with a chance of winning, we asked Mumsnetters to post on this thread letting us know which part of the festival they'd be most excited to see.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Curious Arts Festival are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 15% off tickets with code MN152019. Simply follow the above link, choose your tickets, and be sure to enter your code at the point you add them to your basket.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

Wow! The whole festival looks beautiful. Definitely interested in listening to lots of talks and venturing out on a midnight bat walk.

What an amazing looking festival. It all sounds lovely. I’d like to have a wander around and listen to Dr Fern Riddell about the suffrage movement and Victorian birth control. It sounds fascinating.

DS would love to see John Cleese. He is 8 but has already mastered several of the python sketches. He’d love to see him on stage. 😀🤪

DD will be interested in Lemn Sissay. She is studying poetry and adores Benjamin Zephaniah so I think Lemn will be perfect for her to broaden her poetry horizon.

DH will enjoy being the in the sunshine with us all and not having to put up a tent! I loved the various camping options from a simple tent with nothing to the full Glamping works and they have a very open policy on snacks for kids but not adults. I like to to support local smaller businesses so I don’t mind buying food from the wonderful range of vendors. I might also sneak in a G&T too! Or perhaps some fresh smoothies and waffles.

It all looks fabulous.

I would love to see Suggs

Mydogsnotfat · 25/06/2019 15:29

Suggs. Not such a!!!

Sparkles07 · 25/06/2019 17:24

Ooh never heard of Curious before, my husband would love it! I love the idea of snail racing Grin and the G&T Gin

AppleCiderVinegar · 25/06/2019 18:44

Just read Natalie Haynes first novel and liked it. I'd like to see Nimco Ali as well

Tonkatol · 25/06/2019 20:55

So many great appearances. I am torn between Tom Rachman and Philippa Perry being the act I would most like to see. I know without asking that my husband would love to see Suggs - he has been a huge fan for as long as I have known him.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 25/06/2019 21:34

Gina Rippon and The War Doctor, I’d love to enjoy the festival with my soon to be16 yr old DD ( on 23rd August ! ) as she has just finished her GCSEs and I’d like to keep her engaged in new experiences over the Summer.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 25/06/2019 21:35

Would love to hear David Nott speak, amazing man.
Actually there’s lots the suffragette history, the midnight bat walks, the gorgeous countryside sounds like a blissful weekend.

exLtEveDallas · 25/06/2019 21:47

Oh gosh, Nimco Ali for me, I have quite a crush on her thanks to Twitter.

David Nott would probably be equal parts fascinating and sad. I can imagine pulling up a sandbag and listening to his experiences, nodding along.

(There would also be some ogling of Suggs, but the less said about that, the better!)

Enigma222 · 25/06/2019 22:24

Sounds amazing!
My girls would love to see the racing snails as they love animals in general.

KennDodd · 25/06/2019 22:32

Suggs and the War Doctor, all interests covered!

MamaNewtNewt · 25/06/2019 22:47

It would be the history for me although I'm very intrigued by the snail racing Smile

Sleepybumble · 26/06/2019 06:14

Would love to see Suggs!

Impatientwino · 26/06/2019 07:07

Bat walk, bit of culture and gin sounds great!!

crusosa · 26/06/2019 07:52

I'd like to see Murray Lachlan-Young. He seems to be an interesting character.

HandbagsAtDawnOrMidday · 26/06/2019 07:52

I'd love to take the kids to see such an eclectic line up. The best bit about festivals is discovering something new, leaving with a new appreciation and some inspiration.
(Philippa Perry for me).

mazgoli · 26/06/2019 07:55

Would love to see Jess Kidd.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 26/06/2019 07:59

Definitely John Cleese for me.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 26/06/2019 08:16

Goodness, what a choice! John Cleese for me and The Blow Monkeys for me (adolescent me had SUCH a crush on Dr Robert!) or Suggs...so much choice

Murray Lachlan-Jones for DS1-or possibly Lemn Sissay

DS2 would love a midnight bar walk as he's obsessed with bats-we have a few bat houses in the park near us and he's forever nagging to go for a look!

Argh too much choice-I'd need to go to this 3 times over to fit in everything!

gettingbacktoresearch · 26/06/2019 08:29

I would love to just chill out and listen to many differing authors with a G&T and then mix it up a bit with Suggs and John Cleese... the bar walk also intrigues me Grin

mrsm43s · 26/06/2019 08:34

Loads that sounds interesting, but it would be the snail racing that intrigues me the most!

OddHoleySocks · 26/06/2019 08:37

It looks fantastic! I'd most love to see Nimco Ali, but that would be one highlight among many.

NettleTea · 26/06/2019 08:44

Gina Ripon (avid reader of FWR) and Max Porter - loved his unusual book so interested to see what's next
Also near enough to me to pop home if I need a bit of downtime!

Hopeygoflightly · 26/06/2019 09:17

Definitely Stephanie Theobald, been a huge fan of hers ever since 'Biche'. And Pippingford Park too - camped there before and it's an absolutely stunning setting
