Afternoon all,

Based in East Sussex, Curious Arts Festival is a family-focused, weekend-long adventure. You can expect talks from fabulous novelists and poet laureates, copious amounts of delicious English sparkling wine, and even some snail-racing. With a host of famous faces taking to the stage (including Suggs from Madness and the author Philippa Perry) this is one weekend not to be missed.

This summer, Curious Arts Festival gave one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win a Family Weekend Ticket for this year's festival, plus £500 spending money.

To be in with a chance of winning, we asked Mumsnetters to post on this thread letting us know which part of the festival they'd be most excited to see.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Curious Arts Festival are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 15% off tickets with code MN152019. Simply follow the above link, choose your tickets, and be sure to enter your code at the point you add them to your basket.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

John Cleese, and Phillippa Perry. It's my birthday that weekend so would be a good way to celebrate!

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 29/06/2019 14:21

What an incredible festival! I'd love to attend Bridget Nicholls' talk and I'm sure my children would be excited too. Going to see Suggs would be incredible! What an opportunity!

Moltenpink · 29/06/2019 14:24

This sounds great. John Cleese would be the must see for us.

sabs22 · 29/06/2019 14:27

Definitely John Cleese in conversation with Peter Jukes 😍 but the whole thing sounds great, lots to experience!

FenellaMaxwell · 29/06/2019 14:32

Would love to hear David Nott speak - his book is brilliant. And of course the chance to drink Chapel Down whilst racing snails......

ScrumpyBetty · 29/06/2019 15:52

This looks brilliant. Candace Carty Williams would be my first choice, I loved her book Queenie and read it after I'd heard her debut on Radio 4. The setting looks great and I'd also like to do the midnight bat walk.

mummyinbeccles · 29/06/2019 17:13

My four girls would love the snail racing!

BlueWonder · 29/06/2019 20:17

Would love to wind down with my DC, relax and wander from authors to bands without a plan Grin. Including spending money is a lovely idea and would really take away the anxiety that descends when hungry teens see a street food stall!

queenoftheschoolrun · 29/06/2019 20:26

This looks amazing. I'd like to see Philippa Perry and we'd all like to see Suggs, John Cleese and the snail racing! Fingers crossed!!!

lucieboo · 29/06/2019 20:54

Gotta be Suggs! Our local boy and hubster's fave! My kids are just little festival lovers and we always said we would go back after I did the Isle of Wight three years ago unbeknown to me in the early stages of labour days before giving birth! Still had the best time! This would be an amazing experience! Xx

IndiaHi · 30/06/2019 15:32

My husband and I love the books from Moin Mir. We would be delighted to hear him read some of his poetry!

yellowsun · 30/06/2019 18:27

John Cleese and gin 😁

Katnisnevergreen · 30/06/2019 19:34

I would adore to see dr fern riddel as a historian. Also just a beautiful venue very close to home 🤞

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 30/06/2019 19:40

Loving the blow monkeys!

growlingbear · 30/06/2019 19:43

I'd be most excited to see Geoff Dyer because I think he's one of the finest prose writers alive in UK today.
But I couldn't find a full page of events listings on the website.
Where did people find details of bat walks and snail races? And I wanted to look up the acrobat featured in the photograph as I love that sort of thing too.

MadAnd3Madders · 30/06/2019 19:52

Well, ds1 says that he only gets to stay up late if we can get talking about history or feminism so he'd be happy because he would definitely be up waaaay past his bedtime :)

The snail racing sounds fab- but to be honest just being in the open air with out of the ordinary sights, sounds and ideas all around would appeal to ds2 and ds3 as well. They are most definitely curious!

I'd love being somewhere where ideas are celebrated- if I win I would most definitely need to remember to pack my notebook to jot down all the oddities and sparks that my underused brain would hopefully produce. As long as it's not too befuddled by gin (or maybe that would help, dunno...)

Cremolafoam · 30/06/2019 20:41

I would be so excited to hear GEoff DYer and hopefully get to ask him a few questions about his book But Beautiful, which blew me away. What an amazing line up Curious!

Arborea · 30/06/2019 20:56

You had me at the books, booze and batwalks* - what's not to love? When you add in that we can bring the dogs and it's suitable for the kids it sounds like the best festival ever! The only way to improve it would be to add Half Man Half Biscuit as performers - Bollocko!

Chesham · 30/06/2019 21:35

John Cleese, Philippa Perry and bat walk. Sounds fab!

hareagain · 30/06/2019 21:35

John Cleese and Suggs all the way.

StoneofDestiny · 30/06/2019 21:45

Suggs - to take us back to happy days again!

peaceand · 30/06/2019 22:33

Can not believe I have been missing such a event and close to home!
Location Location Location, shouts out to me plus
Suggs from Madness

browneyesblue · 30/06/2019 22:55

So much to choose from! The bat walk sounds fantastic, poetry and snails for the DC, history and wine for me, Suggs for DH. Looks like an amazing weekend!

3boysandabump · 30/06/2019 23:14

The bat walk and snail racing would be massive hits with my kids.

Poetry for me.

Gin for dc.

So yeh I think we'd all have a fab time

3boysandabump · 30/06/2019 23:14

Obviously that was gin for dh the dc are fine with soft drinks 😂
