My fancy one is coronation chicken on malted brown bread with spinach leaves.
My secret shame one is cheese, mayo, cucumber and crisp sandwich on white bread.

I now want both for dinner Grin

Tuna mayo
Egg mayo
Plowmans
Fish finger
Years ago I used to work near a deli that did Greek salad sandwich which was delicious. Never been able to recreate it.
Brie and avocado

Bananallama858 · 22/06/2019 20:32

Chicken, onion chutney, halloumi, thick sliced white tiger bread, with a side of paprika Pringles Wink

AwdBovril · 22/06/2019 20:34

Roast chicken, lettuce, decent mayonnaise, on nice crusty bread - preferably wholemeal seeded, but a bakery white is better than supermarket sliced rubbish.

Also, hummus, kalamata olive tapenade, roasted red pepper strips, & lots of rocket. Again, on decent wholemeal.

I'd say that Ross's 'moistmaker' could be a thing.
If my Granny is cooking mince or stew we always get offered a 'piece on dipping' which is a slice of bread (white obvs) slapped on top of whatever is cooking for about 10 seconds then recovered and folded in half. Delicious.
But I'd die without bread.
Best sandwich is crusty bread and proper butter. You don't need anything else. 😋

roseblush · 22/06/2019 20:44

M&S cheese and celery

chipscheesegravy · 22/06/2019 20:46

A creamy chicken tikka from a bakery!

KitKat1985 · 22/06/2019 20:49

Bacon, mushroom and tomato 🤤 don't fry the tomatoes! They have to be fresh!

And cheese, pickled onions and any flavour crisps!!!!

BonnieBelleStarr · 22/06/2019 21:56

@TheInebriati but what if somebody eats you? Grin

BonnieBelleStarr · 22/06/2019 21:57

Fish finger with salad cream and pea shoots.
Prawn mayo with lemon or lime in the mayo and lots of black pepper, on soft wholemeal bread (not the pappy oatmeal bread that supermarkets always inexplicably use for prawn).
Fresh crab with real mayonnaise, and a tiny bit of something like mustard or tabasco.

I like a fish-based sandwich.

I also absolutely love egg mayonnaise and cress, again always on soft wholemeal.

Or a bloody steak sandwich, but on sourdough, as you need a more robust bread for that.

My dad used to make cold beef sandwiches for tea on Sunday evenings when we’d had roast beef for lunch. The butter was always an inch thick.
My brother makes me amazing sausage and fried egg baps with brown sauce.

Do toasties count? If so, cheddar and Marmite, cheddar and sweet chilli sauce, cheddar and naice ham, or cheddar and Quorn sausage are all winners.

I would not consider myself a particular sandwich fan and am surprised that I had so much to say about them.

I used to work in Russell Square in London and there was an amazing Italian sandwich shop. Used to have Bacon, Avocado and Cambazola with extra black pepper. It's not there anymore (sob). Loved that sandwich. It was a pay day treat as it cost £3.50 back in the day!
A good cucumber sandwich with pepper and good butter on proper seedy bread. Mmmmmmm

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 22/06/2019 22:19

@RosieposiePuddingandPi where have you found carrot chutney please? I love the M&S Wensleydale and carrot chutney sandwich but haven't been able to recreate so far.

Jamhandprints · 22/06/2019 22:20

Cheese and coleslaw in granary bread or cheese and anything in French bread.

Alevel · 22/06/2019 22:39

Tuna special from oddies.

Tuna, cheese, onion, peppers and mayo.

I'm going to get one on Monday now!

RedSheep73 · 22/06/2019 22:40

Cheese and marmite. Is that weird?

flissity · 22/06/2019 22:47

Lettuce, cucumber, tomato. With salad cream on one side and cheap cheese spread on the other

Leftielefterson · 22/06/2019 22:51

White sourdough
Warm spit roast chicken
Homemade stuffing
Cranberry sauce

Divine!

I love a sandwich but none of the pre-packed shite.

blahblah88 · 22/06/2019 22:52

Brie and grape

Or Brie and salami with lettuce & tomato.

Kabloom · 22/06/2019 23:22

@DtPeabodysLoosePants my MIL tells me that Marks sell the carrot chutney in jars.

MrsWicket · 22/06/2019 23:28

Cheese and coleslaw, black pepper, on granary bread. Has to be Tesco Finest coleslaw Grin
