The word c*nt ?

Can I ask why anyone would think it was ok to use this word?
Or to call another human being this.
I personally, think, and it’s only imho, but it the most debased word ever. As a child, where I live, you would only ever hear dockers and like using it! I hate it.
Now, it’s flung around like an adjective? Why?

There is only one in Scunthorpe.

How do you see the word 'vagina' as misogynistic? It's a biological term! Confused

Queenoftheashes · 13/06/2019 18:44

How do you see the word 'vagina' as misogynistic? It's a biological term!
First because vagina only refers to the birth canal not the vulva etc
And because it literally means sheath.

So refusing women’s genitals to a bag for men to keep their dicks in

Queenoftheashes · 13/06/2019 18:44

*reducing

CrumbsCrumbsEverywhere · 13/06/2019 18:51

I like that I use it. As a woman, we can reclaim it. Same as gay people reclaimed queer (me being one of them). It's not only a word, for this reason however literally, it is just a word.

AltogetherAndrews · 13/06/2019 19:48

Yeah, like Queen says, vagina defines us by the presence of the male organ, merely a place to put a penis, and ignores everything else that it is, or that women experience it to be.

AltogetherAndrews · 13/06/2019 19:49

It’s a biological term, but what sex were the scientists who named it?

SilverySurfer · 13/06/2019 20:16

I dislike it and have never used it although swear a fair bit.

Trufflegirl · 13/06/2019 21:17

It's a very misogynistic word, and I once gave my partner a slap, for saying it. I hate that it's become so commonplace.

SemperIdem · 13/06/2019 22:03

Not sure the word cunt is worse than hitting someone to be honest.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 13/06/2019 22:40

Slapping someone is far worse than any word you can use.

carla1983 · 14/06/2019 13:35

My boyfriend at the time called me this with venom during an argument. He also called me plenty of other nasty insults. It was a pattern of disrespect and nasty behaviour, not a one off thing that was taken out of context. The cunt thing was the last straw in a verbally & emotionally abusive relationship.

So be aware that verbally abusive people will use this word and then say "oh it's not so bad, everyone uses it". Sorry not buying that. Still a nasty word when used like that in an argument.

flowersinthebedroom · 14/06/2019 13:44

There are worse words, 'whore' for example.

WelshMoth · 14/06/2019 22:45

Everyday is a learning day. I never knew 'vagina' was so problematic.

Stompythedinosaur · 15/06/2019 00:25

I like cunt as a word. It feels powerful to me. I of course realise it is originally an insult, but I feel it can be reclaimed.

It makes a change from all the penis related words for people you dislike.

I like to think that the colleagues I've challenged.about their misogyny think I'm a cunt.

bl00dyminecraft · 15/06/2019 07:42

It’s the only one of the “swear” words I absolutely detest. Every other swear word is as standard as every other non swear word.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 15/06/2019 07:59

@user1486131602
@Confusedbeetle

I agree. I don't like the word at all and never use it, not even in my head. And, unpopular as this will be, it definitely makes me think less of people who do use it.

ooooohbetty · 15/06/2019 08:02

I don't know anyone who says it. It's awful and I think less of people who say it.

mycatismeowican · 15/06/2019 18:57

The person who compares this word to a racist insult is rather stupid

MinesaPinot · 15/06/2019 19:32

I can swear like a trooper (much to my DM's disgust) but I loathe it, hate hearing it and would never use it. On the very rare occasions that DH has used it - usually whilst watching the football - he has immediately apologised to me if I'm in earshot.

My friend, on the other hand, uses it as a term of affection for her DH.

I suspect you mean me. Please do explain what I have said that you think is so stupid.

OnlineAlienator · 15/06/2019 21:09

It sounds brilliant, it's quick and has a depth or power to it; it makes your bits sound dynamic, rather than a passive, flowerlike sheath for a dick. I dont have a foof or vulva, i have a CUNT, and i like it.
