The word c*nt ?

user1486131602 · 12/06/2019 14:34

Can I ask why anyone would think it was ok to use this word?
Or to call another human being this.
I personally, think, and it’s only imho, but it the most debased word ever. As a child, where I live, you would only ever hear dockers and like using it! I hate it.
Now, it’s flung around like an adjective? Why?

Well that’s my point proved isn’t it Hmm

AuntieStella · 12/06/2019 16:24

It is deliberately used here, to reclaim the word.

That's just how it is on MN, the die was cast over a decade ago and I really don't see it changing.

Remember, for a long time MN used the strapline "The one with the swearing"

There are oodles of other sites where swearing is not permitted, if that people prefer one without the swearing

ChristineBaskets · 12/06/2019 16:25

Yeah stop clutching your cunting pearls and chill out, you bunch of cunts. Smile

NCbilliontimes · 12/06/2019 16:26

It used to really offend me, but working with men all day I’ve just become immune to it now. We do casual cunting in this house, I call DH a cunt, but it’s a term of endearment, normally when he’s nicked chips off my plate or something daft, I’ve never said it in a nasty way towards him. He’s sometimes cunty bollocks and I’m sometimes in a cunty mood. Work however, my manager is a thick cunt, when fitting bathrooms it’s a tube of silly cunt, not silicone.
There’s also cunty gym face, which is when you’ve dieted and worked out to the point where your face looks 😱

So really, it’s only offensive when discussing management, but I’ve got plenty of alternatives for them anyway

VikingVolva · 12/06/2019 16:27

"it’s a word that should never be used as it’s the worst insult"

This is precisely why I wouid use it.

It is just plain wrong that a good Chaucerian term should have become demonised. And wrong that a term for female genitalia is somehow a terrible insuit.

acatcalledjohn · 12/06/2019 16:29

Well no. Other than saying that it is offensive, there is no clear reason WHY it's offensive. It apparently just is.

Without a clear reason it really is just pearl clutching.

I mean, it's a body part. It's a nicer looking body part than a dick, yet somehow the nicer (and more capable) body part is more offensive. It makes no logical sense.

The words whore and slut are more offensive than cunt linguistically speaking. After all, a body part is a body part. The other two imply something about a person which is a lot more personal, yet both of those are still more acceptable than cunt.

It makes no sense.

ChewbaccaHutchinsCool · 12/06/2019 16:29

To quote George Carlin, 'Rat shit, bat shit, dirty old twat, 69 assholes tied in a knot, hurray!, lizard shit, FUCK!'

AllOverIt · 12/06/2019 16:29

I love it. Especially when used in the phrase 'cunty bollocks'...

How amazing that the most powerful word is female genitalia!

'Vagina' is way more offensive. Whereas cunt means 'triangle', 'vagina' means sword sheath'. As if our fanjos are nearly there to sheath a man's 'sword' 🙄

TwinklyMummaLuvsHerBubba89 · 12/06/2019 16:35

I use it lots online and occasionally in real life.

I give not one fuck what others think of me for using it. Don't like it, ignore me.

MumHowDoYouSpell · 12/06/2019 16:36

@user1486131602

I agree with you, that word is disgusting!

Babdoc · 12/06/2019 16:37

If I ever use it as an insult about an obnoxious bloke, DD always chips in with “He’s not a cunt - he lacks the warmth and depth!”
But I’m also happy to see it reclaimed for its original meaning as an old English word for vagina. Women need a good selection of words for their body parts, instead of the twee euphemisms one sees.
I particularly laugh at ”fanjo” and “flower”, which you sometimes even see used on MN!

MyElbowIsItchy · 12/06/2019 16:40

It’s just a word. No different from calling someone an arsehole, dickhead or cock.

SemperIdem · 12/06/2019 16:41

It’s no worse than other swear words

Soubriquet · 12/06/2019 16:43

One of the most favourite songs in this house....don’t listen around children though Grin

cunt song

DinosaursWouldEatYou · 12/06/2019 16:48

It doesn't really bother me, rather funny that you're calling someone vagina! Yet dick and bell end aren't words people get so offended by 🤷‍♀️

I truly despise the word 'spacker' (not even sure I'm spelling it right) such a horrid meaning and even the sound of saying it, is harsh.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/06/2019 16:58

I don't like it, and I don't understand why so many MNers are happy to use a word meaning female genitalia to mean a vile or seriously horrible person. Especially those, and I suspect that's most of them, who'd call themselves feminists.

fussychica · 12/06/2019 17:02

I hate it, never use it nor does anyone I know. Perhaps it's a generational thing.
It's used more on MN than anywhere I've ever come across.

BigStripeyBastard · 12/06/2019 18:17

REDCARBLUE
I take it you mean Caernarfon?
'Iawn, gont??'
😂😂

Bravelurker · 12/06/2019 18:18

Also my favourite swear word but but but, only use it with very close friends and family - never with even close colleagues /acquaintances
Always mindful of older generations or old timey types who treat the word as if you have just confessed to murder
Sounds great in British /Australian accents but awful in an American accent - sorry.

ShitAtScarbble · 12/06/2019 18:28

Loving the Jeremy Cunt 'slip of the tongue'! Victoria Derbyshire did it recently too. Grin

Cunt is a brilliant word - I can't think of another with so many applications. I feel a bit sorry for the pearl clutchers - can you really not find anything real to get upset about?

Orbison · 12/06/2019 18:33

NUN: [Austrian accent] Maria... what is it you can't face ?

Grin Grin Grin

LadyWho · 12/06/2019 18:36

I love the word cunt and use it more than I should. It's especially satisfying to say when I'm having a road rage moment. Blush

REDCARBLUE · 12/06/2019 18:40

Yep bastard😂

Iawn cont?

vampirethriller · 12/06/2019 20:38

I use it a lot to myself. Cunting hell fire, mostly.

MistyMinge2 · 12/06/2019 20:44

I have to admit to enjoying the use of the word cunt. I find it really cathartic to use
if someone has been a bit cunty.
