The word c*nt ?

Can I ask why anyone would think it was ok to use this word?
Or to call another human being this.
I personally, think, and it’s only imho, but it the most debased word ever. As a child, where I live, you would only ever hear dockers and like using it! I hate it.
Now, it’s flung around like an adjective? Why?

I love it, it's so versatile!

Silly cunt
Bunch of cunts
Cunty bollocks
Stupid cunt
Cuntface
Absolute cunt
Itchy cunt

Gilead · 12/06/2019 15:22

Whilst the fact that prick is light hearted and cunt the (supposedly) worst of the worst annoys me; in my cases if a woman is using it I don't have a problem with it.
As for generational; I'm 60.

Bezalelle · 12/06/2019 15:26

It's just a word.

Can it be "flung around like an adjective" though? I suppose it can.

"A cunty person"

"That's such a cunty hat"

ChewbaccaHutchinsCool · 12/06/2019 15:29

Because it's a great word! Jeremy Cunt. Boris Cunt. Ester McCunt. Amber Cunt. Dominic Cunt. Cunting Sainsbury's. You Park Like a Cunt pages. And my personal favourite, during a fit of road rage, a mate who called another driver a Cum Rag Cunt. Brilliant.

Cannyhandleit · 12/06/2019 15:35

It's a fabulous word that I reserve for when cunts are really cunty!

fairweathercyclist · 12/06/2019 15:35

I agree OP. I am not Scottish and don't live in Scotland but speaking as someone living in England, I think it's the nastiest thing you can say. To be honest I have never heard it used in Scotland or by any Scottish friends or work colleague living south of the border..

None of the words for male body parts are anywhere near as offensive as this. It's sexist and horrible and unnecessary.

ChewbaccaHutchinsCool · 12/06/2019 15:43

PMSL! It's only those nasty Scots who use it, no one in England uses it 😂😂😂

BuckingFrolics · 12/06/2019 15:44

I hate it and never use it, and I swear vigorously. That women use it upsets me in a strange way - sort of as though women have been brainwashed into using a vilely misogynistic word, lsomething like that anyway.

REDCARBLUE · 12/06/2019 15:47

I have family in north Wales and there’s a town there where it’s normal to call you one as a term if endearment 😂

user1486131602 · 12/06/2019 15:48

Confused beetle:
Thank you for vocalising my thoughts in such an eloquent manner!
And I have heard 5 yr olds using the word here in wales.
Just a note! My mother was Scottish, neither she nor any of her family used the word, from Glasgow.
I am unable to comprehend how, under any circumstances, it could be used as humour?!!
Must just be me.

Ohyesiam · 12/06/2019 15:53

Part of me thinks it’s only a word, but I realise I’d hate to hear my teens use it, and I’m not bothered about other swearing( unless they’re swearing at someone).

ChristineBaskets · 12/06/2019 16:05

This reminds me of when there was a fuss about a footballer getting in trouble for calling another player a four letter word beginning with c. My DM was disgusted until I told her the word wasn't 'cunt' but another word with all sorts of horrible connotations and history, which she found much less offensive. But then she's a right racist old cunt.

Kanga83 · 12/06/2019 16:05

It's not a word I use everyday- it's reserved for the group of 'special' people in my life that I can't stand (SIL, MIL, Biological dad and his wife).

beguilingeyes · 12/06/2019 16:06

I think we should reclaim it like the gay community did with 'queer'. It's an old English word for a part of my anatomy. I've got one, what am I supposed to call it? I hate 'minge' far more.

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 12/06/2019 16:08

It's a lovely word. Cuntycuntycunt. Aaahhhhh.

TopEndChops · 12/06/2019 16:10

It's one of my favourite words, that and boffin Smile

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/06/2019 16:12

It's one of my favourite swear words.

I hear it at work all the time. Everyone is some sort of cunt 😂

Anothertempusername · 12/06/2019 16:13

Cracking cunting word. Also nowt wrong with dockers "and the like". Cunty cunty cunt cunt.

HTH OP.

Queenoftheashes · 12/06/2019 16:14

The word itself doesn't bother me. It's the word 'cant' with an accent. See the scene in The Sound of Music when Maria is talking to the boss nun.

NUN: [Austrian accent] Maria... what is it you can't face?

Hahahaha.

On the other hand, if some intimidating strange man called me a cunt i wouldn't like it. but i'd happily use it in a normal conversation especially in the name of reclaiming it for women. Why should our private parts be more offensive than a man's?

StoorieHoose · 12/06/2019 16:15

Term of affection round my part of central Scotland

It's a great word however my favourite word is fud which is essentially the same word

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 12/06/2019 16:15

I'm now singing "cunt" to the "spam" song. Cuntcuntcuntcunt... all together now!

pusspuss9 · 12/06/2019 16:15

It's a horrible word. Nobody I know uses it.

EleanorOalike · 12/06/2019 16:19

I find it very offensive and was horrified to see that a poster was using it recently on here towards other posters in an abusive manner and that their posts were not deleted.

I was brought up in the 90s and 00s by family that it’s a word that should never be used as it’s the worst insult. I have Scottish family and have lived there at times in my life and never heard it uttered by any of my Scottish family and friends. In fact I only heard it for the first time in Murrayfield and that was the only time I heard it in Scotland.

I hate how much it’s overused on here. Any objection is seen as “pearl clutching”.

feellikeanalien · 12/06/2019 16:19

Maybe it's a generational thing but I agree with you OP. I think it's a horrible word when used as an insult.
I grew up in Glasgow and I don't remember it being widely used.

acatcalledjohn · 12/06/2019 16:19

Dick, twat, bell end, bollocks, all of those are acceptable. Somehow cunt is considered a different level of insulting and never has anyone given a clear reason why.

Pearl clutching nonsense.
