The word c*nt ?

Can I ask why anyone would think it was ok to use this word?
Or to call another human being this.
I personally, think, and it’s only imho, but it the most debased word ever. As a child, where I live, you would only ever hear dockers and like using it! I hate it.
Now, it’s flung around like an adjective? Why?

@user1486131602 I agree with you, I hate the word and could not bring myself to use it. I only see it used on here.

wheresmymojo · 12/06/2019 21:00

"Off you pop cuntychops" is my most favourite of all of the MN phrases...

stayathomer · 12/06/2019 23:10

It's funnyin America it's really, really not used. It's pretty much the last forbidden word (that isn't a racial or homophobic slur)shocking in the extreme to hear it. Families that swear like sailors still don't use it; it tends to be either the raging misogynists or the hippest of the hip that do.

I don't know if in Ireland it's the same, but I always would have been hugely disgusted by it, then one day I used it about a person who I thought was the lowest of the low, and now I've found myself using it the very odd time

Peacocking · 13/06/2019 05:20

It really bothers me. I swear like a trooper, but for some reason it's just a step too far and I find it REALLY offensive if I'm called that. Dunno why it upsets me so much though!

Birdie6 · 13/06/2019 05:32

I hate that a word describing part of a woman's body, is used as a bad swear word. I would never use it for that reason.

Decormad38 · 13/06/2019 05:32

Because the hound said it with style on GoT and it gave it a whole new level of cool. It’s not a word I would use in front of dd but it doesn’t bother me.

HappyEverIftar · 13/06/2019 06:12

I don't like it. It makes me cringe when I hear it.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 13/06/2019 06:15

Big Stripey and RedCar

Hope this gives you a chuckle

Ivegotthree · 13/06/2019 06:21

I say it all the time. Nice old Anglo Saxon word. I have no problem with it at all.

RiversDisguise · 13/06/2019 06:27

My favourite word

Derek and Clive. No one says the word "cunt" quite like Peter Cook. 😍

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 13/06/2019 06:32

I say this word every day, obviously not in work situations, like any other swear word. It's just a word.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 13/06/2019 06:36

Totally normal in Scotland so it has never offended me.

It sounds horrible when Americans say it though.

I would never use it as an actual insult though, just in a jokey way ie what are you doing you cunt? or when I'm driving "ah you silly cunt".

Herja · 13/06/2019 06:37

I like it. So much so that I even made a sampler with it. It's in lilac and twined in roses; I particularly like that contrast.

Nillynally · 13/06/2019 06:40

I love it as a word. I use it sparingly only reserving it for people who really deserve it. You know someone means business when they use it. I love language tbh.

ShitAtScarbble · 13/06/2019 06:50

Derek and Clive were the absolute best at cunting! Thanks for the reminder - I shall look out some more of those!

RiversDisguise · 13/06/2019 06:54

@ShitAtScarbble 😁.. this one is my all-time favourite. The venom with which he says "whales are such cunts they can't even breathe underwater." Destroys me every time.

Marmite0nToast · 13/06/2019 07:00

I'm a terrible potty mouth and I use it when saying fuck simply doesn't cut the mustard. It's a very satisfying swear word, especially when driving!

I do agree with other posters that its use has become much more mainstream over the past few years'. I'm living overseas at the moment and I've only heard it used in conversation by other -potty-mouthed- Brits! Grin

BellMcEnd · 13/06/2019 07:01

It’s a term of endearment where I work (very professional area).

I particularly like using it as part of my various passwords to all the bazillions of computer programmes we’d have to use. Gives me a laugh everyday Grin

OddHoleySocks · 13/06/2019 07:05

I find it very offensive

That's entirely your choice. But it's just a word, and like any other word, it's something that us humans created in order to facilitate communication. It's made up. And for some reason, we as a society have chosen to make this particular word offensive.

But it is a choice, and you can, personally, decide its a ridiculous notion to put so much negativity on to one small word or you can choose to continue to be offended by it. Both options are entirely valid.

Having said that, it can be used offensively. Like many words. And if we were discussing a word that was closely associated with, for example, racist or homophobic abuse, I would argue that the word, of itself, has become offensive.

So use it or not. Be offended by it or not. I really don't mind which option you choose.

Skyejuly · 13/06/2019 07:12

It actually does not have a bad meaning. I love it!

barryfromclareisfit · 13/06/2019 07:15

Cunt. No asterisk. Yes to the Spam song.

Word police, sod off. Were you to meet me irl and ask me about Barry, I’d tell you he’s a cunt. And I’d be right.

I find the term ‘potty mouth’ far more offensive. And ‘f bomb’. Fuck that.

IntoValhalla · 13/06/2019 07:17

To me it’s just a word. A word that is about as offensive as any other swear word.
Only yesterday, I called my favourite saucepan a cunt because I didn’t realise how hot the handle was when I went to pick it up.
It can be a wonderful descriptive word too when you can’t find accurate adjectives to describe a person’s cunty behaviour!

I hate that a word describing part of a woman's body
But there are lots of things like this- you're a fanny, twat, pussy, tit, dick, prick, knob, arsehole?

I don't see why cunt is any worse and use it pretty frequently.

I'm Scottish and it definitely is used in a general way here.
