Can I wear this?

Please be gentle, I took a huge step today in trying to accept my new post partum body (ds 13 months). Can I get sway with wearing this or does it look utterly ridiculous.

Nothing to do with your figure. But the outfit is not great

Loveabiscuit · 08/06/2019 19:46

No it really does nothing for u

TellerTuesday4EVA · 08/06/2019 19:50

I don't mean this to sound rude OP but I'm a lot smaller than you & I wouldn't wear that... it's not flattering to anybody. Both pieces are fine but not together... it just looks drab. There's a lot nicer & more flattering outfits out there. But if you like it & feel comfortable in it you should wear whatever you please.

I'm not a big fan of the outfit I don't think it would look good on anyone

ILikeyourHairyHands · 08/06/2019 19:52

Of course you can wear it, you can wear what you please, it depends what you're after though, I think you could do better outfit-wise.

You look great though! Dont fret about that.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/06/2019 19:54

Not nice. You're fine but the outfit isn't. If you fancy trying that kind of top, maybe try it with a midi skirt?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 08/06/2019 19:55

If the bottoms are smart jogger/harem style (difficult to see on my phone), I'd definitely size up, they look a bit close-fitting for the style.

Springfern · 08/06/2019 20:09

Wear whatever you want and like!

Wavingwhiledrowning · 08/06/2019 20:14

If you like it, and feel good in it, then wear it.

But... There's quite a bit of choice between that and a baggy t shirt. You don't need to hide your figure, or cover up, but if you're asking for MN opinions it's possibly because you feel unsure, and feeling wrong in your clothes is never a good look. There's no need to copy others - find what you love and you'll look great.

Leggyfrog · 08/06/2019 20:15

I don't think anyone older than 15 looks good in a cropped top in UK life ( i.e not on a summer holiday) regardless of their shape. I think you are too old sorry.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 08/06/2019 20:21

Layer over a longer white vest to highlight your waist while covering your belly.

Scion123 · 08/06/2019 20:21

Head over to style and beauty, you’ll get fantastic advice.

Dippypippy1980 · 08/06/2019 20:34

I don’t think the outfit is flattering. It would not look good on most people - it isn’t you it’s the outfit.

You have a great figure and you would look amazing in a lot of styles. Just not that one.

MitziK · 08/06/2019 20:41

YOU look great.

The clothes look badly made and ill fitting.

Looser trousers would emphasise your great shape.

A better cut T shirt or looser top, perhaps one that's a semi opaque material, coming to hip bone level, would emphasise your slimness.

Add some nice sandals (tan strappy flats?) and some bright nail polish/pedicure and you'll look cool and glam.

Watermelon2019 · 08/06/2019 21:44

Thank you everyone for your feedback, especially those who have complimented my figure, I have a few hangups about my body post children so not being told I am fat it a huge relief. I take on board all your advice re the crop top, however given that the trousers seem to be the most mentioned item I am curious as to whether these are any better?

Sorry, but I think the ripped jeans are absolutely awful.

Watermelon2019 · 08/06/2019 21:52

Oh god I'm not doing well, what happened to me, I used to be good at this stuff! 😭

BenWillbondsPants · 08/06/2019 21:53

Sorry OP I'm not a fan of the ripped jeans either, they would look anyone look bigger than they are.

Please believe me when I say that you really are not fat, or anywhere near it. What style do you generally like?

SinkGirl · 08/06/2019 21:55

OP, you don’t just have to wear baggy stuff - I like things like this, fitted around the chest but then skim over the tummy, with more fitted trousers.

Can I wear this?
Watermelon2019 · 08/06/2019 21:56

@benwillbondpants I like a really casual style, so jeans, t-shirts, trainers etc, I have big legs and a big bum so struggle to get trousers to fit right unless they are high waisted, but I am sick to death of just wearing leggings and baggy tops. I am not girly at all so skirts and dresses are a no for me.

OP posts:
Watermelon2019 · 08/06/2019 21:57

@sinkgirl the problem I have with those type of tops is they tend to make me look bigger because they fall over my boobs and away from my body so it looks like I'm wearing a shapeless sack

Mum2jenny · 08/06/2019 21:59

Just wear what you are comfortable wearing. Ignore everyone else. It’s you that’s got to be acceptable with your clothing options, no other fucker!!

Ohyesiam · 08/06/2019 21:59

I’m not a huge fan of ripped jeans, but you look great in them. You have a lovely figure. I never got my waist back post partum , but yours is good.
The second lot of black troos are better definitely.
What sort of look are you going for? How do you want to be seen?

MissMogwai · 08/06/2019 21:59

The ripped jeans look too big near the hips I think? They're not a flattering cut.

The cropped trousers would look better with a fitted scoop or v neck top tucked in, in my opinion. Will show off your waist better. The black T-shirt isn't very flattering to your great figure.

I was doing the same the other night, trying and clothes and having doubts about this and that, and my 'baby' is 15!

SinkGirl · 08/06/2019 22:00

I used to think that too, looking at photos of me in looser tops vs more fitted I definitely think I look smaller in the looser stuff as it’s supposed to be baggy. Other thing I wear a lot of high waisted jeggings to control the twin Mum tum and then I can get away with more fitted tops!
