Can I wear this?

Please be gentle, I took a huge step today in trying to accept my new post partum body (ds 13 months). Can I get sway with wearing this or does it look utterly ridiculous.

I don't think you need a baggy top, just a longer top. High waisted jeans and a crop top only look ok on an 18 year old. Other than that, high waisted jeans make everyone look terrible. A longer fitted top would hide the fact that they're high waisted.

Novinosincebambino · 08/06/2019 22:48

OP your figure is absolutely fine! It's just about finding something that works for you and flatters you. Forget anything 'on trend' and wear your own style. I would go for trousers with a higher waist and has a panel at the front. It will nip in your waist. A wide leg trouser would look good (thinner at the hips and flares out) and will make your legs look longer. Heels or a wedge will help too and then a slim fitting top. You don't need to change a thing with your figure x

MsSquiz · 08/06/2019 22:58

I think both items look good, but not together as an outfit.

I'd do the top with jeans & trainers and the trousers with a fitted shirt, to show off more of your figure

Should've RTFT! Blush

Jeans with a little rip in them would be fine, they look like a deranged cat got stuck in them and they're not a flattering fit.

The cropped wide leg trousers are lovely, it's just a lot of black.
I have these cropped wide leg trousers which I wear with a white or pink t shirt knitted at my belly button or hip (I can't get away with tucking things in!)

Next have some jeans called hyper curve that are really good

Runkle · 08/06/2019 23:17

M&S jeans are fab. The new range are only around £19.50, so comfy, flattering and wash well. With all due respect step away from the crop tops, it's making you look untidy and unfinished. Perhaps try a high waist trouser/skirt then French tuck/belt the top if you fancy the look of a crop? You have a lovely figure, show it off by other means.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 09/06/2019 07:27

I think the crop top is the main issue.

Are you trying to find trousers to go with the crop top?

KnitFastDieWarm · 09/06/2019 07:35

You can wear whatever the fuck you want. Your body made a human being, be proud of it Smile

Artesia · 09/06/2019 07:37

It’s so hard finding your “look” again after kids. My youngest is 4 and I still haven’t managed it!

I’d suggest that maybe the sleeve length on the top isn’t helping- I find T-shirts cut straight across the middle upper arm hugely unflattering as they stop at the widest point and draw attention to it. Slightly shorter sleeves cut on an angle are way more flattering. Something more like this shape (oasis is well worth a look- they have sown a massive range of really good quality well cut t shirts this year in loads of styles)

You have a great body.

Agree about having the right pants.

gubbsywubbsy · 09/06/2019 07:41

Get some nice slogan t shirts and tuck them into the ripped jeans for a more modern look than that cropped top..

gubbsywubbsy · 09/06/2019 07:43

I cant find a good pic but this sort of thing .

The crop tops aren't doing you any favours- if you like them though, go for it. A fitted t shirt would in my opinion be better- and not a fan of the ripped jeans- but again/ you need to be comfortable, not a group of strangers on the internet xx

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 09/06/2019 07:52

No please don't get slogan T-shirt's unless you're below the age of 19.

redbedheadd · 09/06/2019 07:54

I'm post partum and similar age to you, I'm loving jumpsuits with trainers/sandals and a leather jacket. They are so so comfy too.

I like the topshop mom jeans with a tight vest/T-shirt or their skinny fit high waist jeans.

Btw I see loads of people our age in London wear crop tops but not with tight trousers, more with a midi skirt or high waist vintage jeans. I think tight jeans and a tight crop is a bit much.

Also think about some cool accessories... you can wear a simple outfit but with cool jewellery and a nice red lip it elevates it.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 09/06/2019 08:27

You could defo go for skinny jeans!

I agree with the others, I think the top might be the problem. What about a bodysuit and high waisted jeans?

MrsBobDylan · 09/06/2019 08:44

Picking up on a pp who suggested that the material is a bit thin, Sweaty Betty does some beautiful and supportively shaping stuff a bit like your first outfit op.

I can't afford them but my sister took me in recently and I could see how much better the cuts and materials are.

mrssoap · 09/06/2019 09:09

I think they would look good with a nice long top, doesn't have to be baggy.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 09/06/2019 09:21

Not in all black. A different colour top in the same style would be better.

Mojitomogul · 09/06/2019 10:00

You have a lovely figure. But their are far nicer styles of tops out there rather than a crop top. I'm a size 12/14 at the moment-I love m and a jeans or river island Molly Jean's they are so comfy. And I wear a silky tight fitting camisole m & s top from their underwear section and then put a loose style shirt from Zara on top. This way I feel streamlined and have a tighter top underneath-the camisoles are so useful and I often wear them with a kimono over the top knotted at the waist to give a nice shape. This is the camisoles www.marksandspencer.com/cool-comfort-lite-vest/p/p60081626?image=SD_02_T61_7598A_Y0_X_EC_90&color=BLACK&prevPage=plp

And then some tops from Zara to pop over the top m.zara.com/uk/en/oversized-blouse-p09479045.html?v1=8275552&v2=1180428

Or asos do a lot of nice tops as well www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-knot-front-top-with-kimono-sleeve/prd/11039128?clr=black&colourWayId=16294642&SearchQuery=&cid=15198
I just find the layering with my bra, camisole and then a looser layer is really flattering but also shows some cleavage so it still sexy. It's my go to daily look unless I'm wearing an off the shoulder style top with Jeans or a dress. I also love a black jumpsuit as you can throw it on for anything.

mrssoap · 09/06/2019 10:57

Yes they look good! Maybe wear a longer top? Doesn't have to be baggy!

Quartz2208 · 09/06/2019 11:04

I think its the top to be honest because it is cropped it makes your top half look squarer (if that makes sense) and shorter rather than elongating you!

CurbsideProphet · 09/06/2019 11:10

Warehouse have some v neck t shirts (50% linen 50% cotton) that are slim fit, but not clingy. More flattering and comfy than a crop top I would say.

ittooshallpass · 09/06/2019 11:34

Mint Velvet have some lovely tops and all in the sale now. This black trousers and wrap top would look good with trainers www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/green-spotted-wrap-top/20460

SinkGirl · 09/06/2019 12:57

I concur with the jumpsuits - I would never normally wear them but I got three black ones from ASOS recently in different styles and I love them!
