Heart Radio Breakfast Show

Anyone else really disappointed by what Heart have done with their breakfast show?

I loved our local presenters, turned the radio on this morning in the car to be greeted by Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden shrieking. They were both being smug with David Walliams, barely any music either.

I had to turn over in the end. So, so sad that my morning radio has disappeared with barely any warning.

Greg James is ace on Radio 1 (and i’m way to old to be their target audience).

I was in Matt and Michelle's area too, I didn't tune in yesterday.

I don't think it was done on the down low - it was announced a while ago that the breakfast show was going national. Not that that makes it OK. We had James and Becky. I love the localness - they used to go a curry night where you could turn up and meet them (not that I ever did).

I already found it very short on actual music.

We used to have Katie Hill and she was annoying. The we had a succession of presenters, all pretty annoying and shouty. I switched awhile ago (but largely because I did know Amanda was coming : I think they kept it quite because of some upset, not surprisingly) . I now listen to Absolute Radio 80s. They play proper Tunes!! A bit too much talking (Dave Berry in the mornings and Frank Skinner at the weekends never shuts up) but the music makes up for it. To be honest, I learn more from their national travel news than I did form my 'local' Heart!

I didn't like the music but once I was forced to listen to the breakfast show in someone else's car I was pleasantly surprised, our local presenters were Ed, Paulina and Troy and they were genuinely funny and really engaged with the local community which made it nice to listen to. I quite often used to listen to them as a break from my iPod. Shame.

I loved Ed, Troy & Paulina here in the West Country - devastated that they've gone. Have switched off Heart but am struggling too to find a decent station with local content & good music.
Will be interesting to see what the audience figures are for the New Breakfast Show & how quickly the advertisers pull out.

I liked our presenters too. I hope their ratings are a disaster.
I hate so many of the celeb DJs emma Bunton, Myleen Klass, they are all awful.

Ed, Troy and Paulina (Somerset) we're brilliant in the mornings. Their last show on Friday was really sad. It's ridiculous that all of the regional broadcasters have been made redundant. The local news and traffic was really useful and interesting to listen to.

I didn't even attempt the Amanda Holden show. I'm trying lots of different alternatives to replace Heart.

They’ve done the same with Capital.

I know one of our local breakfast show presenters. They were given very little notice. And while they were given a very good payout, part of the deal is they’re not allowed to work for any other station for 3 months after their contract with Capital was terminated.

Not a fan of Roman Kemp and the other 2 who giggle all the time with him.

YY listen to Greg James on R1. I am way too old to be his audience too but he's brilliant.

Another Dave and Heidi listener here! We're giving the new show a chance, but it's not winning us over.

I miss our local presenters Justin and Kelly Strange not to have any Geordie voices. (Am not even a Geordie.) I switch the radio over now whenever they talk.
Radio 1 is not bad. Heart and Metro are so bland. The music on Capital is a bit better this week, I have not heard the presenters.

Streaming is the way for me, too.

Heart have lost a listener here. I enjoyed our local breakfast show and found the traffic updates helpful (especially as local presenters pronounced all the weird place names correctly!). There just something about Amanda Holden unfortunately I'm just not keen on. Time to find a new station...

I was going to try Heart as I really can't cope with Zoe Breathless Screechy Ball first thing in the morning. I'm sure she's a lovely person etc. etc. etc.., but she's not good on breakfast radio. Am at how the ratings were so good m

My radio will remain tuned off, which is unheard of as I (used to) love having it on in the mornings. No idea what to listen to on the days I'll be commuting.

I'd love to know who the people are that think the general public like Amanda Holden. It's so unfair that professional talented and experienced radio presenters have been booted out for a one time actress. I read that she's bringing an album out next - how is that possible. Didn't always listen to Heart but local radio is absolutely vital to lots of people.

Another vote for Greg James on R1 here, the music might take some getting used to but I love his gentle humour.

Oh Thankyou for this thread I thought it was just me too. I am so upset to lose Dixie & Emma on heart breakfast they really helped me wake up laughing. I’m turning over.

We had a fairly new local Heart breakfast presenter, DD is also switching the radio now to R1 instead on our trip to school. Not sure why they killed off a good format there!

They are paying such a huge salary I doubt they will change their minds though, unfortunately.

Probably the only one who hasn't noticed much of a difference 😂😂 Heart started going downhill way before AH joined. They appear to be in cahoots with Lady Gaga and Bradley whatsit.....how many times can we play that bloody nauseating song??

Do any NW mumsnetters know if Joel and Lorna have gone to another station? I'll stick to a mixture of Smooth and a local station now.

Anyone know what/where Joel and Lorna have moved to? Can't find anything online and we wont listen to the breakfast show at work, we've defected to fucking Rock Fm. Why, why, why do they have to meddle! I'd rather have gout in my ears than listen to that self important harpy!
