It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

The rain is amazing

LoafofSellotape · 12/06/2019 10:37

10 degrees here today but feels much warmer without the rain.

GummyGoddess · 12/06/2019 21:34

Annoyingly I am too hot, despite the lovely cool weather. Had the boiler replaced and am sweltering as the heating has to be on full blast for a bit.

ExpletiveDelighted · 13/06/2019 09:51

More rain today, everything looks so green and fresh.

Onlymeyousee · 13/06/2019 11:22

Forecast next week sunny 18 degrees ☹️

LoafofSellotape · 13/06/2019 11:35

Oh 18 degrees I can live with,just!

SecretWitch · 13/06/2019 16:17

Beautiful, cool and rain swept day. I wish it could be like this all summer.

TapasForTwo · 13/06/2019 17:43

I would love 18 degrees right now. Currently 11 degrees and raining. I'm fed up with spending £££ and damaging the environment using my tumble dryer.

Emmabryant123 · 13/06/2019 17:45

Think your on the wrong thread tapas why don't you bump your ' I love summer' thread you made :)

lorit · 13/06/2019 17:57

Ah the terrible woes of those with outdoor gardens and tumble driers! We meagre peasants stuck in tiny flats have to hang dry everything indoors anyway, so no extra costs for us.

I really do love this weather. I've felt so alive in it even through exhaustion. More rain please, weather gods!

Refusing to look at next week's forecast again

GummyGoddess · 13/06/2019 18:07

More rain today, but should be dry overnight. People at work are complaining and I'm agreeing but secretly thrilled.

ExpletiveDelighted · 13/06/2019 18:13

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of today's drizzle, even though the garden is definitely enjoying it, but every day of drizzle means one less day of heat.

LoafofSellotape · 13/06/2019 18:18

My hayfever has been excellent this year because of the rain, usually I'm a snotty mess by this time of year.

DasMumBoot · 13/06/2019 18:30

I’ve found my people ☁️🌧. Last summer was a total nightmare. I have a genetic condition and one of the problems it brings is dysautonomia which causes mega problems regulating my temperature. Once the thermometer rises above 68 I am dripping with sweat to the point I look like I’ve just stepped out the shower. It’s so uncomfortable and embarrassing. My hair drips down my face and neck (cutting it short hasn’t helped) and my face is bright red. I look a total mess. Even in this weather I am moderately drippy when I walk around. I love winter. It’s the only time I feel ok and look respectable. Not looking forward to the low-70s on next weeks forecast.

mydogisthebest · 13/06/2019 19:04

I cannot believe people are happy with this miserable weather. We have had rain, rain, rain, rain, rain and just by way of a change, more rain. Most days it has been torrential.

I can almost see the grass growing but no chance of cutting it. The hedge has gone berserk but, again, no chance to cut it. Everywhere is soggy, muddy and disgusting.

Oh and we have had our heating on now for 7 days in a row. That's ridiculous in June.

I am not keen on very hot weather but would prefer it to this

Emmabryant123 · 13/06/2019 19:06

I don't think the rain is miserable :)

MotherofPearl · 13/06/2019 19:10

every day of drizzle means one less day of heat.

That's exactly it! I keep thinking that at least we're halfway through June and no sign of a heatwave yet, and if it does warm up it won't be as bad as last year because that heatwave started pretty early on in May. We seemed to go straight from the Beast from the East into the hottest, longest heatwave imaginable!

Emmabryant123 · 13/06/2019 19:12

I am absolutely thrilled we have got this far without a sign of a heatwave

Ffsnosexallowed · 13/06/2019 19:24

We've had the heading in the past few days - cold and wet and miserable

GummyGoddess · 13/06/2019 19:28

@Ffsnosexallowed you say cold and wet and miserable. I say cold and wet and cosy!

Nursery report dc1 spends a lot of time giggling and puddle splashing so he's also still enjoying it.

mydogisthebest · 13/06/2019 19:30

Not miserable? When the sky is grey all day and it's dark early? As if it's not bad enough that the days will be shorter after 21st June we are not even getting the light evenings now that we should.

Homes are flooded, roads and trains are affected. Wildlife is suffering but yes lets all rejoice that it's not hot

mydogisthebest · 13/06/2019 19:31

Wet is never ever cosy but then neither is dark and cold

Ivegotthree · 13/06/2019 19:32

AIBU to ask if the only reason people hate summer is because they're overweight and don't like wearing summer clothes?

managedmis · 13/06/2019 19:33

It was 28 degrees here last weekend and that was enough summer for me. Back down to 20, which is acceptable, I'd say.

managedmis · 13/06/2019 19:34

Nah, I hate the fact I have to wear sunscreen, have headache and have to wash my feet after being outside I. E because of wearing sandals.
