I started school in 1975. I remember umpteen Darrens, Roberts, Andrews, Christophers, Martins and Ians. A fair few Joannes, Sarahs and Emmas too.

itssquidstella · 24/05/2019 18:23

Boys were all called Ben and Dan.

ThatCurlyGirl · 24/05/2019 18:34

Boy wise - I swear to god in my senior school years (late 90s) it seemed like 80% boys had to legally be called Dave, Joe, Michael, Dan and Sam. 😂

Did make it easier to get into parties though. "Dan invited us" "Come in!"
Sneaky little minxes we were 💁🏻

ThatCurlyGirl · 24/05/2019 18:36

Oh and we had two pairs of twins in our year, both Sarah and Laura.

Within each pair one went to Oxbridge route and one that didn't get an offer but I'm sure went to a brilliant uni too, just so coincidental it all happened the same to two pairs of twins!

MyInnerAlto · 24/05/2019 18:41

We had several each of Sarah, Claire, Jo (Joanne/Joanna), Kate/Katy/Katie, Vicky/Victoria, Amanda.

Boys' names were more diverse, I think, actually. There were a couple of Marks, Matthews, one or two Roberts, variants of James.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 24/05/2019 18:43

Born 1962

Every other boy was an Andy 😆
Lots of Susans and Nicolas and a few Julies/ Julias and Joannes - I am none of these & haven't seen my name on this thread yet 😅

Born in 1985 and we were overrun with Clares/Claires. Also Lisa, Katie/y, Jennifer.

And for boys lots of Seans, Johns, Pauls and Christophers.

I didn’t mean people called Ben or Sophie until I went to university. I thought they only existed in books Grin
