True fact about yourself that no one believes

When I was at university (5 yr course with a year in industry, so 4 yrs of teaching) I never missed a single lecture, seminar, lab or tutorial. If it was on the timetable I was there. We had large contact hours (engineering degree, so about 25 hrs per week) so was quite a lot to fit in.

I’ve told this to a few people over the years when the topic comes up in conversation. No one has ever believed me, and it’s not something I can prove or disprove either way!

Anything you have done in the past that no one believes and you have no way of proving?

That I scored in the top 0.5% in the country of my A level year. Find it hard to believe myself and it hasn't translated into any tangible evidence of intelligence!

Irulez · 18/05/2019 20:06

I've also won the Nationals twice at a sport, but again, it's not something you'd assume about me. I think I come across in real life, much as I come across here - a twit. Grin

Oh and everyone seems shocked when I mention my children when I'm at work. I don't look like I have children apparently. Though I'm getting the middle-aged spread now so I might be more believed as a mother.

Cocolapew · 18/05/2019 20:11

I don't have long limbs or body. Maybe I have a long head Hmm

HoppityChicken · 18/05/2019 20:20

I broke a world record - I believe it still stands.

I have a reputation for my safeguarding knowledge and expertise and sit on various advisory boards. Sadly my skills come from first hand experience of suffering years of abuse as a child and then later when I got married.

spidersonmyceiling · 18/05/2019 20:25

I'm mebrioned in Hansard, by a member of the house of Lords, for good reasons, not cos I've done anything wrong.

puddinglump · 18/05/2019 20:33

My IQ level I have what most people class as a lower skilled job and a very northern accent and many think I’m thick I’m not I enjoy my job and can talk the Queen’s English if I wanted to but I’m proud of where I come from

scarbados · 18/05/2019 20:38

My first husband was a baronet and we were guests at a royal wedding.

Mummadeeze · 18/05/2019 20:55

When I was younger my cat was really intelligent and understood so much of what my sister and I said to him. We used to play hide and seek with him properly and he understood the rules and both hid and searched. We used to take him for walks and give him instructions that he followed. I know no one believes me about this but it is true!

Sonsoftheblood · 18/05/2019 21:01

Not so sure these are facts that no-one would believe of me so much as facts no-one knows about me.

I was a virgin until I was 30, even though I married in my 20s.

When I was a teenager, I used to shoplift books I was embarrassed to be seen buying from W H Smith. Nothing dirty or inherently embarrassing, but just a genre of books I felt embarrassed about reading.

HoppityChicken · 18/05/2019 21:01

Mummadeeze, - I believe you just because I really want it to be true!

HazelBite · 18/05/2019 21:11

That I took and passed my 11plus when I was 9.

ThatCurlyGirl · 18/05/2019 21:24

I love this so much! I'm gonna go and see if CurlyHouseBunny can do the same... Smile

loobywench · 18/05/2019 21:30

I have 38 inch inside legs

Cottonwoolmouth · 18/05/2019 21:34

That I pulled a small toddler out of a swimming pool in Butlins thinking it was a doll when I was ten. I jumped in to get it off the floor. As I came to the surface with this small child, the life guard ran over and took the baby/child off me. The parents came running over and fussed around the baby and life guard.

I went to tell my parents - no one believed me!

When I got older I trained to be a lifeguard/ swimming teacher/ swimming teacher tutor and school water safety talker.

True story.

buttonup26 · 18/05/2019 21:37

That I have done the Olympic bobsleigh run.

Bellewhitehorses · 18/05/2019 21:52

@swishswish26 so pleased someone can relate. I’ve hid this for such a long time from people, I’ve even tried hypnotherapy in secret which didn’t help. Hope one day to find out how to overcome this!

TigerTooth · 18/05/2019 22:02

I used to (30yrs ago!) look A LOT like Lady Di.
I snorted cocaine with the Prodigy.

MatthewBramble · 18/05/2019 22:20

I'm qualified to steer a merchant ship in coastal waters (but not deep sea).

Teacher22 · 18/05/2019 22:22

I went to fourteen schools in thirteen school years. The longest I was at any one of them was two years.

I practically educated myself by reading and was good at the subjects where you could teach yourself and not so good at the hierarchical ones where you needed to do one bit before you could tackle the next.

Nevertheless, several times I turned up at a school, sat the end of year exams , came top and got the prizes.

This was the only way I knew I wasn’t a useless failure.

sobby · 18/05/2019 22:28

I feel so sad for you, it must have marred you for life with no one believing you. I would have believed you if I lived in your village X

sam221 · 18/05/2019 22:34

I have never had a date/sex and am in my late 30s. My family or friends would never in a million years believe/guess that about me. I was in a very public/client facing industry and did have plenty of opportunity, should i have wanted.
I grew up poor and always wanted to better myself so resolved to have no distractions, with full singular focus.
I did manage my goal of financial security and currently retired.
