True fact about yourself that no one believes

When I was at university (5 yr course with a year in industry, so 4 yrs of teaching) I never missed a single lecture, seminar, lab or tutorial. If it was on the timetable I was there. We had large contact hours (engineering degree, so about 25 hrs per week) so was quite a lot to fit in.

I’ve told this to a few people over the years when the topic comes up in conversation. No one has ever believed me, and it’s not something I can prove or disprove either way!

Anything you have done in the past that no one believes and you have no way of proving?

That I was in a Punk band in 1977

Deadringer · 15/05/2019 23:34

I have a mark on my back that looks like 666.

No one believes I can navigate my way out of a minefield with a blade of grass. Actually, I don't believe it but I have been trained how to do it. And I am so boring now that no one believes that either...

Katinski · 16/05/2019 00:25

Wanna learn how to navigate my way out of a minefield with a blade of grass! Mind you, with my luck, should I ever happen find myself in a minefield bet there wouldnt be any grass around. Do you have to take your own blade of grass with you?

My random fact is that Clint Eastwood was our dosser for a week or so.He wore a large cowboy hat.,

@misscockerspaniel - did one of them have a Welsh name?

3catsandcounting · 16/05/2019 01:03

@Ineedamanipedi - is the clue in your username?

DotForShort · 16/05/2019 01:47

That I'm Jewish. I always get "That's funny, you don't look Jewish." Hmm I'm not in the least observant or religious, but it's an important part of my cultural identity.

wobblebot · 16/05/2019 03:10

I trained for the Winter Olympics when younger.
I'm not sporty.

I do however lie about why I didn't compete..I say I was injured when in fact I was just too scared of failing.

Biggest mistake of my life.

wobblebot · 16/05/2019 03:11

I also got shitty GCSE's and no alevels but I've been to uni three times

barbiegrl · 16/05/2019 05:13

That I once jumped out of a perfectly serviceable aero plane, that I travelled from
China to the uk on my own when I was 11, that I went to work on lanzarote by answering an ad in the newspaper, that I got engaged two weeks after meeting my husband

mooncuplanding · 16/05/2019 07:20

I’ve never blown my nose in my whole life. Ever.

pumpkinpie01 · 16/05/2019 07:31

That when me and my friend were 17 we gave a lift to a harmless looking woman in her 50’s. She turned out to be a raging alcoholic and prostitute and locked us in her house. We had to plot our escape quick when her husband came in drunk and she was begging him not to hurt us .

Cherylshaw · 16/05/2019 07:37

I was in the kitchen brigade cooking for George w bush and the queen, along with other very well known politicians and world leaders. During that same event I became very close friends with a girl that ended up being an undercover reporter who betrayed my trust and I almost lost my job 😂
Nobody believes me!!

Youvegotafriendinme · 16/05/2019 07:42

Some of these are brilliant!

bullyingadvice2017 · 16/05/2019 07:58

I lied on my cv work think I have a levels. Truth is I dropped out of school got no GCSEs and was busy going off the rails, taking loads of drugs and raving.
I'm quiet and boring now. Keep my head down.
My boss has one Facebook friend in common, someone I knew at this time of my life. I pray she never asks him about me.

Floopily · 16/05/2019 08:33

I used to be a nanny. I'm the only one of my friends without children and it's a standing joke that noone would ever ask me to babysit as I have no clue about kids and dont know one end of a baby from the other. I'm actually a baby-wrangling ninja but I choose not to let anyone know.

woodcutbirds · 16/05/2019 08:40

@wobblebot I want to hug you for that admission. It's horrible missing out due to fear. Been there done that so many times it's embarassing. Don't want to out myself but I was offered a place in a group who are now all household names. I was too scared of failing too. I see them all on TV and in films all the time, earning a fortune and wonder what self-belief they had which I lacked/lack.

cuppycups · 16/05/2019 09:09

I had a pet barn owl that lived in outlet house.

cuppycups · 16/05/2019 09:10

*our

medusawashere · 16/05/2019 09:12

I've never been admitted to hospital, had a serious illness, had an operation or broken a bone.

Being 34, people think "really?". I'm just really lucky! I can't take any credit for it.

medusawashere · 16/05/2019 09:14

I have had my share of mental illness though.

I had Anorexia in my twenties. No one believes that now either. I'm still very slim but I come across a lot more "together" than you would expect. Unfortunately, I fit the stereotype of the young Anorexic female to a T!

Wren77 · 16/05/2019 09:16

In my first Saturday job in a book shop in Yorkshire about 30 years ago I sold a very famous actor a book on the menopause. True fact!

Ounce · 16/05/2019 09:17

I used to ride in a motorcycle display team.

Deadringer · 16/05/2019 09:56

Shock wow some of these are amazing, they make my 'mark of the beast' seem very tame!

KooMoo · 16/05/2019 11:22

Kernobhead I’m the same as you! I never missed a single minute of uni Grin.

TBH I’ve never given it much thought before. I was awarded a 2:1.

There are circumstances/facts about me that people are incredulous about, however I can’t divulge as they would be just too outing.
