True fact about yourself that no one believes

When I was at university (5 yr course with a year in industry, so 4 yrs of teaching) I never missed a single lecture, seminar, lab or tutorial. If it was on the timetable I was there. We had large contact hours (engineering degree, so about 25 hrs per week) so was quite a lot to fit in.

I’ve told this to a few people over the years when the topic comes up in conversation. No one has ever believed me, and it’s not something I can prove or disprove either way!

Anything you have done in the past that no one believes and you have no way of proving?

The dcs absolutely love a particular song in French on YouTube. It is infectious but not child friendly. Oh well, they don't speak French so it doesn't matter really.

That my husband is the only man I've ever kissed. Even he doesn't believe it! We met when I was 16 and I later married him. I'd never had a boyfriend before him so it makes sense that I've never kissed another man yet no one believes me! Confused

Giantsbane · 17/05/2019 10:42

People don't believe I'm 5ft 6in. People will say im short and I'll reply that I'm as tall or often taller then they are and they argue with me. We'll then stand together and I'm proved right, has left several people looking very confused. Not sure why I look short to others

@woodcutbirds spice up your life??

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/05/2019 11:28

I was in Mensa Youth, went up to London for tests and loved it!

I was found outside a hospital shortly after I was born.

Before I had the right meds, orgasms sometimes caused my seizures (epileptic).

TwittleBee what is 'an A in a day' please? Google won't tell me!

PoorRichard · 17/05/2019 11:46

I wrote my dissertation for my degree in 14 hours. Having never researched the topic or read a book about it.

Laurie, I am marking finalists' dissertations at the moment, and have no difficulty whatsoever in believng this. Grin

joystir59 You could try Edexel:

For verification of Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and Higher National Certificates (HNCs) awarded by BTEC you will need to contact Edexcel.

Oh it's just where you leave your hwk/courswrk till the day before and still get an A grade @MrsIronfoundersson - it's what my history teacher called it

4strings · 17/05/2019 12:30

Weird one, but everyone assumes I was privately educated. Not that there’s a problem with that, of course. I think it’s because I’m articulate and don’t have a particularly strong local accent.

Not so much now, but due to the above assumption, people also assumed Mummy and Daddy provided everything and that I’ve never had to work for anything. No one believes I bought my first property aged 23 myself without a penny of parental financial input.

MrsIronfoundersson · 17/05/2019 12:45

Ah thanks TwittleBee - I was hoping it was some miraculous revision technique I could pass on to DS!

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 12:46

I’m a Surrendered Wife.

IvanaPee · 17/05/2019 13:09

I’m a Surrendered Wife.

What’s that?

YesQueen · 17/05/2019 13:15

I have a poem by Roald Dahl that is unpublished

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/05/2019 13:17

@YesQueen As a childhood Dahl book fan I'm so jealous!! Can I ask how this came about - did your family know him?

TwittleBee · 17/05/2019 13:21

I am sorry to disappoint MrsIronfoundersson and actually exams were the one thing I did put in a lot of time into!

YesQueen · 17/05/2019 13:28

@ThatCurlyGirl my dad was in hospital at the same time as him. My dad spoke to him about how much I loved reading and his books. After he died, someone turned up at my parents and asked to speak to me (I was v young then) and handed over this poem

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/05/2019 13:36

Ah @YesQueen thanks SO much for replying, people often leave posters hanging when they ask questions! My goodness what a gorgeous story about your lovely, lovely dad! Thanks

Frith2013 · 17/05/2019 13:58

I’ve never smoked or taken drugs.

I’ve an IQ that puts me in the top 0.5% of the population (for all the good it’s done me).

I’ve never had an operation.

I’ve given birth twice - so quickly that both times I didn’t need to miss a meal :-D (Both labours during the day)

goawaywillya · 17/05/2019 16:07

@BertrandRussell so you're basically a stepford wife who does as she is told?

PoorRichard · 17/05/2019 16:10

Bertrand, I'll be upfront and say I don't believe that for a moment. Grin

goawaywillya · 17/05/2019 16:11

I can't remember my exact age at the time but I think it was about 11 . I was convinced that I was going to die from cancer for about 3 months. I have never known anybody who has had cancer.

BertrandRussell · 17/05/2019 16:31

OK- this one is real. I was old enough to have two children on 9/11 and I have never seen the video of it happening.

blameitonmyjuice · 17/05/2019 17:00

I’m a virgin at 27 and have never even had a kiss - just a bit of a fumble with a friend a couple of times when a bit younger Blush . I’m a lesbian and struggle to cope with not feeling ashamed of that though so that’s the reason .

I’ve never flown or been abroad and have probably only left Scotland 9 or 10 times to be honest .
