Savoury spread?

I love marmite. I have also discovered peanut butter later in life (all those missed years...!), however I'm looking to try something different - particularly on toast, for breakfast. Can anyone recommend an alternative that I might have missed!!

We eat humus in our house. Also like tartex pate.

Pascha · 14/05/2019 19:21

I quite like crab pate.

Beef paste Smile

Always used to love sardine and tomato paste sandwiches. It was the 80s though, so entirely possible it needs to be filed with the crispy pancakes...

Marmite and peanut butter together. Yum yum Yum!

try other nut butters. Almond butter and hazlenut butter are both delicious

Gentleman's relish!

FiremanKing · 14/05/2019 19:26

Ooh yes M&S so a lovely cashew spread

SpoonBlender · 14/05/2019 19:27

Paté. I'm partial to chunky 'farmhouse' pork, duck, and smoked fish is incredibly lush.

Houmous. Straight or fancy.

"Gentleman's relish" which is anchovy paste.

Pretty sure there's an olive paste equivalent that I've had. Not as fancy as tapenade.

Pate?

I've banned myself from pate on toast. I have no "off" button. Blush

DontCallMeShitley · 14/05/2019 19:52

Take a look at Pip n Nut, palm oil free nut butters, peanut butter is really good but others to choose from:

Fish pâté, salmon, smoked salmon, crab, mackerel, home made kipper pâté, all delicious!

Nigella Lawson made something called Liptauer which looked amazing:

AdaColeman · 14/05/2019 20:26

Wow MrsDilligaf you've taken me right back to my youth there with your mention of Liptauer!

When I worked at the Home Office, no sherry party was complete without a bowl of Liptauer, there were several family recipes all competing for the top favourite award!
Later, it was an essential at "Cheese & Wine" parties.

This is in the days when continental cheeses were rarely widely available, and the cheese counter didn't have much variety. So Liptauer was a real treat!

I'll be making some soon! Wine Wine Wine

Another for sardine and tomato paste , love that on toast , definitely better than it sounds!

MrsDilligaf · 14/05/2019 20:39

@AdaColeman - Enjoy!

MollysMummy2010 · 14/05/2019 20:45

I love pate on toast but my guilty secret is those little jars of tuna mayo spread on thick white toast with loads of real butter...think my husband would leave me if he knew...
