How should remainers vote in the EU elections

We’re less than 2 weeks away, how is everyone thinking of voting? I’m going with Change UK as I’m sick if all other parties. I genuinely have lost respect for both main parties. But then I was surprised to see change UK really not gathering much support. I also can’t believe Labour are polling so strongly seeing as JC has fudged Brexit to death.

Greens or Lib Dems really.

BlueberrySkies · 12/05/2019 19:42

Lib Dem.

Pandasarecute · 12/05/2019 19:44

I really have no idea! That’s not like me but have received no Leaflets from any party and don’t know who would be best

SNP!! a clear remaining party!! But I think they are only on the ballot in Scotland!!

Mrscog · 12/05/2019 19:45

SNP not an option for west mids Grin, greens out for me due to their lack of gender critical stance. It’s Lib Dem’s or change uk I think. But I’m leaning towards something completely new

I'm waiting to see what remainvoter.com state is the most likely to win for remain..i imagine lib dems though. Also west midlands and if my local area is anything to go by if we have a candidate for the brexit party they would win :(

Partylikeits20199 · 12/05/2019 19:49

Yeah I’m confused and frustrated at the lack of effort it seems from Change UK. Only leaflet I’ve got is from the Brexit Party (straight in the bin). And there are so many candidates for change UK/Greens/Lib Dems in London - who to vote for is tricky. I want to be tactical but can’t work out the best course or action.

NoBaggyPants · 12/05/2019 19:49

Does anyone actually trust the LibDems?

They actively supported the referendum in the first place. They were part of the government that implemented austerity, that caused the backlash that resulted in leave winning.

They'll support any issue that gets them power. They have no principles.

Mrscog · 12/05/2019 19:50

It’s PR though so there’s no winner as such, I’ll check out remainvoter.com.

I just feel like there’s no uniting force for remainers in the way there is the Brexit party. It’s a good opportunity to at least send a message.

Change UK for me

AlexaShutUp · 12/05/2019 19:51

I haven't decided yet, but I'll probably go for Green. Would consider lib dem or change UK. I usually vote Labour but cannot support their stance on Brexit.

I was really excited about the launch of Change UK, but beyond the Brexit debate, I'm not really sure what they stand for yet. We do need a new force in British politics. I'm just not sure that we've got it yet.

Partylikeits20199 · 12/05/2019 19:53

Thanks @IgnoranceIsStrength I hadn’t seen that site. I have joined their list and will await their recommendation!

WeeDangerousSpike · 12/05/2019 19:54

No idea what our options will be (had a Labour and a brexit party leaflet but that's it) but as we are an area that's either lib dem or Conservative in local and general elections I'll probably go with lib dem.

TheCaddy · 12/05/2019 19:59

I honestly don’t know.

78percentLindt · 12/05/2019 19:59

Undecided between Lib Dem and Change UK. I want to vote Change UK but in the East Lib Dems have done well in local elections- took Chelmsford - so they might be a better bet.
Its a quandary! Its a shame the remain parties could not stand on a common ticket but the electoral laws wouldn't allow it. Like a PP greens are unlikely with their stance on gender issues and TBH Lib Dems have not covered themselves with glory in local governement round here.
still thinking

AlexaShutUp · 12/05/2019 19:59

Yeah, I know BaggyPants. They don't really deserve our votes, do they? However, there just aren't that many alternatives.

I would consider voting lib dem if they were the remain party most likely to get elected in my area. However, I haven't forgiven them for their part in making the referendum happen and I don't think they have been much good as a voice of opposition to Brexit since the referendum.

The real truth is, I feel utterly disenfranchised. There is nobody I really want to vote for.

MrsJakeLovell · 12/05/2019 20:02

I'm in Wales so Plaid for me.

I've been forwarded this on FB but it is generally saying LD, even in areas where Green currently hold seats?

AlexaShutUp · 12/05/2019 20:03

MrsJake, do you reckon the Libdems have put out that one?Grin

examtastic · 12/05/2019 20:10

To really send an anti Brexit message I think we need need to ignore past issues/other question marks and vote for an anti Brexit party. Otherwise the message will not get through.

I am personally struggling with that, I work with young people and can never forgive the Lib Dems on tuition fees, but Brexit is bigger than that so I feel I must vote accordingly.

MrsJakeLovell · 12/05/2019 20:22

Grin they could well have done!

I am glad that I have Plaid to vote for as I share the misgivings re LD some have expressed here

averylongtimeago · 12/05/2019 20:42

I think in the EU elections tactical voting is the only way.
I have supported Labour all my adult life, but have reservations about Corbyn- I'm not a "non man" so can't vote Green, don't trust the Lib Dems, the tories and Farages fascists are obviously out - and just what do Changeuk stand for anyway?
So on this occasion I am going for the party which is unequivocally standing as pro EU and voting Lib Dem.
When it comes to a GE, I will probably vote differently- but this is a one issue election.

SpoonBlender · 12/05/2019 21:03

I've signed up for www.remainvoter.com/blog as well. Fairly sure lib dem'll be the appropriate choice here, we'll see. I'm a one-issue voter this one time!

MrsJakeLovell · 12/05/2019 21:06

I've signed up for remainvoter.com too - and watching Mike Galsworthy avidly. This really is a one issue vote isn't it.

Sirzy · 12/05/2019 21:08

I think it will be change uk for me. Lib Dem’s have damaged trust beyond repair for me I think
