How should remainers vote in the EU elections

We’re less than 2 weeks away, how is everyone thinking of voting? I’m going with Change UK as I’m sick if all other parties. I genuinely have lost respect for both main parties. But then I was surprised to see change UK really not gathering much support. I also can’t believe Labour are polling so strongly seeing as JC has fudged Brexit to death.

I’m in the North West. I’m thinking of voting Lib Dem as I think they will do best of all the Remain Parties.

DadDadDad · 12/05/2019 21:25

I don't think you have to trust LibDem or be in favour of all that they stand for, just lend them your vote for the Euros. You won't be putting them in government, they'll be sitting in the Euro Parliament for a few months!

What surely matters (if you support Remain) is that there is a strong showing in votes and MEPs to tally against the Brexit party.

This is one election where if the LD put a rosette on a monkey, I would vote for them. I wouldn't usually be so flippant, and in the unlikely event that Brexit is stopped, and I am represented by a monkey in EP, that will be a price worth paying to remain.

I'm going to vote green

Lib Dem. unless I see a suggestion otherwise for NW England. I don't like them much but on this issue I can hold my nose enough.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/05/2019 21:37

Change UK for me. I know they won't do well, but it's the only clear pro-EU party I can bring myself to support. I have too many issues with the Lib Dem's, SNP and the green to even consider voting for them.

Sorry, I'm not being manipulated or managed.

Amara123 · 12/05/2019 21:49

Gina Miller launched this site too to help with tactical voting.

Change, as they are also the only ones who have worked out what a woman is (or at least, haven't forgotten yet).

Mrscog · 12/05/2019 21:52

Sorry to disappoint @poppyinafieldofdreams but I’m along term poster, if you dig back far enough you’ll find all about my 2nd degree tear and anal fissures with DC1, potty training misery with DC2 etc etc.

And on the other hand, I don't think poppyinafield can be a long-term MNetter if she thinks MNetters can be manipulated and controlled! Grin On this forum, you can be sure whatever opinion is expressed someone will soon be along to vehemently disagree...

ForalltheSaints · 12/05/2019 22:30

Whichever Remain supporting party in your area you think has the best chance of getting an MEP elected.

Labour is not a Remain party.

Dottierichardson · 12/05/2019 22:36

I'm voting tactically so Lib Dem, always voted Labour before, but in my area the closest remain party in terms of support from voters is Lib Dem, I would prefer to vote for another remain party but that would only split the vote.

Dottierichardson · 12/05/2019 22:38

Agree as pp Labour is not a remain party or would vote for them as usual.

Cattenberg · 12/05/2019 22:46

Does anyone know if we get to choose one candidate on the ballot paper or more than one? I can’t remember. I live in the South West and we have six MEPs.

DoraleeRhodes · 12/05/2019 22:59

Probably Lib Dem as the remain party with the best chance locally.

RumpledOfTheBailey · 12/05/2019 23:03

I’m struggling.

I’d probably vote green but am in Scotland and do not support independence. Also unsure about “gender” policy.

Am I kind of middle class pinko liberal who wants fewer borders, not more; minimal government intrusion into private lives; and the vulnerable to be cared for.

LizzieMacQueen · 12/05/2019 23:06

I'm Scottish and will never vote SNP so I'm thinking Lib Dem this time.

user1471453601 · 12/05/2019 23:13

I'm pissed off with both the Lib Dems and Change Uk. They couldn't agree to collaborate so that a remain vote wasn't split. Leaving that shit Farrage (who openly says he will announce his policy after he is elected) a free run.

Greens is the way I'll probably go. The lovely ex mayor of Sheffield has a pretty good chance I hope

Mrscog · 13/05/2019 05:43

I just looked it up, you just vote for a party for the Euros not candidates. It’s then proportionally distributed as well.

OP posts:
borntobequiet · 13/05/2019 05:50

There wasn’t time for collaboration and it’s technically difficult in these elections. Here’s Chuka Umunna’s explanation

borntobequiet · 13/05/2019 06:00

Having said that, I’m voting LD because I think they have the traction.

StealthPolarBear · 13/05/2019 06:04

I've signed up for remain voter and need to vote tactically. I'm worried about the split vote

Rarotonga · 13/05/2019 06:08

I've gone for Lib Dem (postal vote so already sent off). It's a one issue election and they are clearly for remain. I can't imagine Green or Change UK winning here but considered both.

lovelyupnorth · 13/05/2019 06:09

Lib Dem or Change uk.

For me I don’t feel the Lib Dem’s screed us over I think they where shafted to get power and could never live up to their promises as promised so many different things across the country.

Also if you understand the tuition fees it only really matters what the interest rates are and how much you owe if your a high earned. The majority of people won’t pay the full amount and will be written of after 30 years. And I say that as someone who’s DD is about to go to uni.
