Most boring film you've ever seen?

I'm watching On Chesil Beach and I can't remember the last time I watched a film this dull. Only sticking with it to see how they do the, ahem, early arrival part. Thinking about it the book was fairly shite too.

What's the most boring film you've ever seen so I can avoid nights like this Grin

Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. Dull as ditchwater and with that bloody annoying bing-bong sound every 10 seconds.

MatthewBramble · 06/05/2019 11:17

Forgot Solaris. I fell asleep during that.

ShatnersWig · 06/05/2019 11:29

I couldn't finish On Chesil Beach as a book, sure as fuck wasn't going to watch it.

Babadook - how the hell did people rave about that?

Couldn't abide Lost in Translation either. Avatar is the only film I've seen in 3D where the 3D was really good and immersive. Trouble is the film was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dull.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 06/05/2019 11:32

Also The English Patient.
Signs with I think Joaquin Phoenix.

Jojoanna · 06/05/2019 11:33

Melancholia so slow

Oliversmumsarmy · 06/05/2019 11:55

Anything that has won an Oscar is usually one to avoid

RosamundDarnley · 06/05/2019 11:56

The Shawshank Redemption. I was in a bar in Greece watching it and I just went to sleep it was that dire. My ex raved about it and kept trying to wake me up during the film because I was ”missing it”

Yep. That was the idea. 😁

Usuallyinthemiddle · 06/05/2019 12:00

oliversmumsarmy yes!

Birdman. The Revenant.

Drogosnextwife · 06/05/2019 12:01

Dirty dancing, absolute crap.

4strings · 06/05/2019 12:56

The Shawshank Redemption
Withnail and I
Pirates of the Caribbean

AginNAgin · 06/05/2019 13:00

Fences
The English Patient
and one that I think was called The Piano - or there was a piano in the title or something.

BiggerBoat1 · 06/05/2019 13:03

Lost in Translation and American Beauty. Both yawn fests.

Most all time most boring has to be Perfect Storm though.

Pinkarsedfly · 06/05/2019 13:06

There Will Be Blood.

Fuck my life, that was dull.

bamboofibre · 06/05/2019 13:08

Gravity. I fell asleep.

DetectiveSantiago · 06/05/2019 13:11

Jackie.
Godawful boring film

ShannonRockallMalin · 06/05/2019 13:25

AI.
Saw it at the cinema when it came out, and although I can't remember much about it now, there must have been a point when it seemed like it was ending. People in the cinema starting shuffling a bit, then it became clear that the film had not in fact finished.
Someone behind us moaned really loudly, "give me strength" and the whole cinema started laughing Grin

MsTSwift · 06/05/2019 13:27

Tinker tailor soldier spy. Middle aged men in grey suits talking. Felt like crying with boredom.

StuntNun · 06/05/2019 13:40

Traffic
Drive

CatherineVelindre · 06/05/2019 13:59

Dead Poets' Society

Grindingly dull, full of its own self-importance, with terrible plot and character development, and Robin Williams being appallingly smug (and not remotely inspiring or edgy.) I only stayed because I went with a friend, and at the end she admitted she felt exactly the same way. We both weep copiously at films (I remember us sobbing through the end of the battle scenes in Henry V with poor dead teenage Christian Bale, and sniffing throughout Longtime Companion), but were completely unmoved by Dead Poets' Society. (My DH is shocked by my position and thinks it's a wonderful film. We agree to differ.)

High school musical. Took children and fell asleep. I also fell asleep in les mis. Hated it

Grumpbum123 · 06/05/2019 14:02

Eat Pray Love. A load of tedious, self-indulgent, mind-numbing twaddle.

zukiecat · 06/05/2019 14:16

Empire of The Sun

Total Recall, my XH made me go and see it with him, never been so bored in all my life, I counted things on the cinema ceiling rather than watch that rubbish

Night At The Museum

Lord of the Rings 1. Lord of the Rings 2. Lord of the Rings 3.
That's 9 hours of my life I won't get back.
No proper endings to 1&2, and about 57 endings to part 3.
