Most boring film you've ever seen?

I'm watching On Chesil Beach and I can't remember the last time I watched a film this dull. Only sticking with it to see how they do the, ahem, early arrival part. Thinking about it the book was fairly shite too.

What's the most boring film you've ever seen so I can avoid nights like this Grin

Mr Ripley

nopen · 05/05/2019 23:33

2001 Space Odyssey zzzz
In fact, all Kubrick films!

Moulin Rouge - walked out of that.

SanFranBear · 05/05/2019 23:37

Yet another vote for Lost in Translation - I did actually leave the cinema after about an hour and a half.. utter shite!

FreckledLeopard · 05/05/2019 23:42

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and 'Lost in Translation'.

The first was just so full. It felt like it should have finished at least 90 minutes before it actually did. And I remember the disappointment watching it as the trailer had seemed good. Jude Law preening on a boat if I remember correctly.

Lost in Translation was just a non-story.

Also, 'Somewhere' with Stephen Dorff. I must have fallen asleep or something but all I remember is the dullest beginning to the film of a car driving around and around a track. And the film went downhill further from thereon in.

Shutuptodd · 05/05/2019 23:42

The village.

Borne identity I fell asleep in the cinema.

SpareASquare · 05/05/2019 23:45

Atonement. Hated it.

Linnet · 05/05/2019 23:46

Eat pray love, 2 hours of my life I’ll not get back.

VeronicaDinner · 06/05/2019 00:00

I can't believe Titanic has been mentioned

Yabbers · 06/05/2019 00:05

Atonement.

Life of Pi

Anything with Bond in it.

Love Actually.

Not sure the name but it was a film about a man and woman stranded in the ocean, 25 mins in they were still treading water..
I was thinking the same, but the one I watched had a whole group of people stuck in the water when the ladder to their yacht disappeared. I’m sure there was a shark picking them off.

There was also another one with a crocodile stalking a group of folk camping by a lake. It’s was so dull, but so ridiculous we just had to see it through.

Yabbers · 06/05/2019 00:08

Ooh, another one. Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer kidnapped in the jungle or something. Utter drivel!

Lion?! How could you find it boring?! It’s based on true events and it’s just an incredible story. The landscapes, colours, cinematography are beautiful.

Lost in translation- amazed that is mentioned. They are wonderfully drawn characters. So unusual

EatenByDinosaurs · 06/05/2019 00:30

Another vote for Space Odyssey 2001, I'll sit through most things but watching paint dry is a blast compared to that!

Solaris. I’ve tried watching it a few times but always fall asleep.

boatyardblues · 06/05/2019 00:37

The middle one of the Star Wars reboot, the one with Hadyn Christiansen and Natalie Portman. I suddenly realised it was a bank holiday and not a Sunday, so the shops were still open. I bailed and left DH in the cinema.

Thismummyruns · 06/05/2019 00:41

The Terminal with Tom Hanks- snore inducing

MenuPlant · 06/05/2019 01:01

Another vote for Lost In Tranalation. What a waste of 2 hours.

Mind you The English Patient was a waste of 3 - though it felt like soooooo much longer

Dowser · 06/05/2019 06:13

Oh yes eat, pray love...luckily it was in a dvd
La la land..hated it
Fantastic beats..snore bore
There’s more..thankfully I can’t remember them

boatyardblues · 06/05/2019 10:34

The pledge ..dull as shite

And depressing too.

Glad to see some hate for Fantastic Beasts. My colleague went 3 times with her son to really milk every ounce of enjoyment from it, which I could not get my head around. Once was too much. Zzzzzzzzz.
