Anyone up for a game of Mornington Crescent?

I'm starting with Bank.

OP posts:
sashh · 04/05/2019 07:58

As this is a bank holiday weekend would it be possible to use the International Convention Holiday switch?

Using the change of dynasty as the royal side rule and welcoming Emperor Naruhito.

If so I propose Akihabara and apologies if I am using the rule in the wrong dynasty.

PinguForPresident · 04/05/2019 08:12

Goodness sashh, that's technically an allowable move since we're playing 1948, but it's really awfully poor form to invoke International convention before 9am unless one is a member of European Royal House, and I think we all know that your marriage to that minor Bavarian Duke was annulled after the hilarious but ultimately unfortunate incident in Helsinki, so I simply can't allow that play to stand.

Whipman's Whiffle back to Blighty and

London St Pancras International

Now that rather opens things up for players of an adventurous nature!

elephantoverthehill · 04/05/2019 08:42

Tooting Bec.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/05/2019 09:10

What ho my peeps! A fine morning to exercise ones brain cells. Seems like months since our last game. Obviously I've been "travelling" again. There is no truth to the rumour that my return has anything to do with an exchange for anyone in the Ecuadorian embassy. Mater and the Colonel are again disappointed with me.
What fine play! Have you all nc (very wise) or is this all new blood?
Dilemma-play the Orwell defence (but it's May, so obviously no) or the Hamill side-play (given the date)
Only one thing for it Grange Hill.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 04/05/2019 09:49

Good morning, OhWhatFuckery. I can’t be entirely sure but, although some of our regular players have returned to the fold, this game also seems to have attracted some newcomers. Some of them have clearly played before at quite a high level, so I suspect they were participants in that clandestine tournament in a speakeasy in Thames Ditton that was broken up by the Vice Squad last October. Most of them will have been paroled by now.

Clapham Common

ForalltheSaints · 04/05/2019 10:16

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow good morning and glad to see you back along with Maud and a number of other regular players of the game of games. It is also welcome to see a number of newcomers, and with their help hopefully we can succeed in the campaign to have MC included in the 2024 Olympics.

With the aid of the nearby stations and London Overground rules, I move to West Brompton.

pineapplebryanbrown · 04/05/2019 12:25

West Brompton seems a very bold move seeing as the rugby is on and playing merry hell with the traffic. It puts me in mind of the great palanquin snarl up of 1912 at the Darjeeling Hill Station. How I miss Rose Cottage and dear, dear Barbie.

I would suggest we Go West and venture to Earl's Court. There's a secret intelligence bunker under one of the guest houses.

PinguForPresident · 04/05/2019 13:51

Sorry thigh the bunker hasn't been accessible since the Colonel and fuckery's Mater flooded the place with Beaujolais Nouveau after that rather ill-advised participation in the Run back in '97. Terrible shame. it was an awful vintage.

Let's spice things up a little, tally ho to the very edges of civilisation and pay a visit to Amersham

pineapplebryanbrown · 04/05/2019 14:19

Amersham is an interesting play but one i can't respect.

Let me preface my next move with apologia. Mater has refused to either confirm or deny which of the Captains Mainwaring is my facto and which merely the de facto pater. Clearly with my aquaduct nose and noble equine forehead i am a thoroughbred.

With that in mind I'm forced to play...Goodge Street.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 04/05/2019 18:29

If it's the edge of civilisation you're seeking, Pingu, let me suggest

Watford Junction

Meanwhile, thigh, I must say that I had always understood that your paternity, like the sphinx, was something to be shrouded eternally in mystery.

Laska2Meryls · 04/05/2019 18:34

...like the cut of your jib there Maud I was going to suggest Watford Met, but ill now go Ealing Broadway

Laska2Meryls · 04/05/2019 18:37

No sorry ,Not Ealing Broadway!! I nearly did an inadvertent Abingdon Correction , there, .... . Penge West

MaudAndOtherPoems · 04/05/2019 18:49

Laska, darling, they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it's really rather cheeky of you to repeat my first move to Penge West. Luckily for you I'm feeling indulgent, as otherwise I'd be asking the adjudicator to put you in stemmings for three moves.

Hendon Central

Laska2Meryls · 04/05/2019 18:59

No!! Blush so sorry Maud and my first move of this play !! I got discombobulated , but my near offside serve ..

Laska2Meryls · 04/05/2019 19:00

ok .. Acton Town

tanpestryfirescreen · 04/05/2019 19:54

Heathrow T5- a little used move I know.

MatthewBramble · 04/05/2019 20:37

Edgware Road (Bakerloo Line, not District & Circle Lines).

elephantoverthehill · 04/05/2019 20:38

In a round about way, Oval, methinks.

sideorderofchips · 04/05/2019 20:44

As I am
New to this and most likely mistaken I tentatively suggest

Kew gardens

elephantoverthehill · 04/05/2019 20:47

side, a fine move to be sure, showing wit and a complete empathy and understanding of the game. I congratulate you on your maiden offering.

pineapplebryanbrown · 04/05/2019 21:53

Kew Gardens? I didn't realise we were playing by those rules Hmm

In which case my hand has been forced. I offer Kennington, there, I've said it.

PlausibleSuit · 04/05/2019 21:56

I'm a new player here but I do have the appropriate stamps on my Lagarde's Clench. Since it's Saturday night and everyone's livin' it large I venture a sallying east to the dockside delights of...

...Wapping.

(Yes, I know that's technically a greased shunting, but since Wapping was East London line and Overground I assert that it's permitted.)

sideorderofchips · 04/05/2019 22:29

Anyone for strawberries in
South Wimbledon?

TSSDNCOP · 04/05/2019 22:29

I feel giddy, but it Star Wars day and the force is strong so...

Aldgate

EAST!

MaudAndOtherPoems · 04/05/2019 22:48

May the force be with us all as I essay a bilateral reverse shunt to

Gatwick Airport
