I'm starting with Bank.

Ha ha Maud! Green Park. Gotcha.

TSSDNCOP · 04/05/2019 23:01

Maud, I see you’re playing point counter point with the Terminals Gambit initiated by *. The only appropriate riposte is Oxford Circus. Touché

TSSDNCOP · 04/05/2019 23:03

Damn you elephant I will need to sit out 3 goes now.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 04/05/2019 23:11

I really don’t know what you mean, TSSDNCOP. That move has been in the Compendium of Approved Moves since at least 1879.

Just come in , bit tired but I reckon I can absolutely justify Shadwell here.. (The Whitechaple Whiffle maneuver created by the Lady Edna Sturgess in 1962 I believe)

JellicleCat · 05/05/2019 00:36

Shadwell, hmm tricky, think it will have to be a bold east to west counter attack (yes I appreciate it's an unusual strategy, but needs must), so Turnham Green.

DameMargaretofChalfont · 05/05/2019 08:50

Morning fellow Mornington Crescenters.

On a Sunday morning my opening gambit will (OBVIOUSLY) be Whitechapel

A safe move but also one quite fitting for a Bank Holiday Sunday.

00100001 · 05/05/2019 08:56

A combined Withers-Fortesque to cockfosters

MaudAndOtherPoems · 05/05/2019 09:00

Hmm. There’s some very devious play going on here, but I can see through your ruse.

Balham

00100001 · 05/05/2019 09:04

Hmmm.

Lancaster Gate seems the safest from here.

dementedma · 05/05/2019 09:11

What ho, a game is afoot with some fresh new blood! Haven't played since the Brigadier was accused of spoiling the papers in Kiev and both he and the Chaplain had to forfeit their clothing and huddle together for warmth in a makeshift tent in the forest. A story he still sticks to, despite regular thrashings from the Chaplain's husband. maud good to see you old girl. How are the haemorrhoids?
I play a gentle reverse shunting to Chalk Farm to ease myself in...if you will pardon the expression.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 05/05/2019 09:34

Well, hello, dementedma. As I mentioned earlier, I’d heard that you’d been paroled. I’m in perfect health, although you clearly are suffering either from amnesia or (as your name testifies) dementia as it was the Brigadier who developed that unfortunate malady after sitting naked on the granite bench in Kiev. Anyway, let’s let bygones be bygones.

Cutty Sark

00100001 · 05/05/2019 09:54

Cutty Sark.... Before noon on a Sunday???

00100001 · 05/05/2019 09:56

Do you not recall what happened to Mrs Norrington in round 4 at the 1993 Sailsbury Tournament???

Debenhamshandtowel · 05/05/2019 10:12

Morning to

you all.

Hoping back over the river.

Plaistow

Laska2Meryls · 05/05/2019 10:45

Right this may need a small gin to accomplish, but the Brigadier is still in his Sunday bath, with Flossie busy scrubbing his back (I think from the moans going on in there) So its ok.. he will never know, especially if we have a Parma violet or two after , yes

I know I should be in Church, but this is more important So I give you ...

Hackney Central

ForalltheSaints · 05/05/2019 11:00

The London Overground rule has been used quite a lot in this game, and I am going to make use of it again, without the aid of a safety net (or gin as it is usually called). Which gets me to Canonbury.

I forgot to pray for any players of the game of games in church this morning. It being the time when first communions are made, some of the parents and godparents would have caused the Brigadier heart palpitations wearing what used to be called 'Sunday best' attire. So best that he was still in the bath.

00100001 · 05/05/2019 11:07

Canonbury? Very close to being in Nidd there....

The obvious choice would be Northholt however, there is an opening to Pimlico

JellicleCat · 05/05/2019 12:35

Pimlico? I had to scour the rule book to see if that was a permitted month, but seeing as there is no R in the month I think it is ok. But to be on the safe side I am heading south of the river to

Southfields

JellicleCat · 05/05/2019 12:36

'Move' not month, but still Southfields!

ForalltheSaints · 05/05/2019 12:59

It's lunchtime so I will move to Wimbledon and I am sure a good Sunday lunch can be had.

Cismyfatarse1 · 05/05/2019 13:18

I am late to this round but arrive concerned that you have forgotten the Cleethorpes Scandal of 45.

For which the only remedy is Westminster.

Weathermania · 05/05/2019 13:22

Well this is a proper pickle. Before it all goes too wrong, may I suggest a sidestep to Victoria before all sense of decency is lost.
Will no-one think of the children?!

ForalltheSaints · 05/05/2019 14:31

I will think of the children who may fancy a visit to the Hamleys toy store, which is but a short walk from Oxford Circus where I make a move to.

dementedma · 05/05/2019 14:33

As it's a bank holiday weekend I believe I am allowed to play a tricky and rarely seen Simmington's Snurgle to Earl's Court.
That should see orf some of the upstarts on here. I remember it being a game changer back in '42 when I dispatched the Countess despite her protesting in five different languages to the Executive Council. Sore loser.
