Did your husband ask your father’s permission before he asked you?

If possible, just a yes or no.

No.

AnneTwackie · 29/04/2019 16:59

Yes

ImogenTubbs · 29/04/2019 16:59

No.

He jokingly did it when we called to tell my parents that we were engaged. And my dad, to his eternal credit, said, "well, it's not my decision, but if Imogen says yes, then that's ok by me!"

pallisers · 29/04/2019 16:59

No, but wouldn't bother me if he had. We are each individuals and our views do vary. x

BlinkyBill · 29/04/2019 17:01

No

AntennaReborn · 29/04/2019 17:03

No.

And my dad mentioned during the wedding speeches that he had failed to do so (he was joking, but to anyone who didn't know him well seemed scarily serious).

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 29/04/2019 17:03

Yes.

As a modern feminist, I still wanted this, more for my Dad's sake than anything else.

TapasForTwo · 29/04/2019 17:03

No, but my dad joked and said "he should have asked me first", at which point I said "he wants to marry me not you"

It was all very light hearted.

Annasgirl · 29/04/2019 17:03

Yes

FaFoutis · 29/04/2019 17:04

itshappened · 29/04/2019 17:04

Yes

HappyMama01 · 29/04/2019 17:04

Yes he did - but it was something I made clear to him I wanted for my step dad to experience. I'm the only child and knew it was something he would appreciate as well as walking me down the aisle.

PiggyPlumPie · 29/04/2019 17:04

Yes but it was a bit jokey as my Dad tried to persuade him against it.

ALemonyPea · 29/04/2019 17:04

No!

VoyageInTheDark · 29/04/2019 17:04

No but I wouldn't have minded if he had

IcaMorgan · 29/04/2019 17:05

And never will!!

Stravapalava · 29/04/2019 17:08

Yes and my mother's permission too!

SciFiScream · 29/04/2019 17:08

No.

After I'd said yes he called to tell him but it was a done deal by then!

Wedding invitations were sent from us as bride and groom. Not from bride's parents. This annoyed my dad more (but he wasn't paying for wedding, we did!)

Ginnylamb · 29/04/2019 17:08

No

because we didn't get married in 1856

He also didn't "ask" me. We just decided to during a conversation, and then did a few months later.
