How often do you eat out/get takeaways?

And how much would you say you on average spend on it in a month?

I’m currently trying to save and have tracked all my expenditures and I’m shocked to see that I’ve spent over £200 on eating out/takeaways this month - not including normal food shopping!

Want to see what the average is!

Take aways only happen when on holiday, so maybe twice a year.

Eating out in a pub/restaurant probably averages to once every couple of months.

I'd expect to spend about £60 on a restaurant meal and drinks, so I'd put my monthly spend at £30 - £35.

sanmiguel · 27/04/2019 09:34

About the same as you on average.
Some months a lot more! May, with 2 bank holidays (we're away for both) and a birthday, it'll easy be double. Usually though, with no significant plans/birthdays, prob one takeaway a month (at most) and a couple lunches out and probably 150 in total.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 27/04/2019 09:38

Eat out around once every couple months,we are out for a date night at an Indian tonight for example. We'll spend around £60.Takeaways every week to week and a half, usually spend around £20 for me,Dh and ds 5

We probably get a chinese once a month and spend about £30 on it. We eat our once a month too and spend about £60. We might get the occasional Subway or Costa when out and about together too which probably adds up to £20 a month.

greensnail · 27/04/2019 09:42

We eat out or get a takeaway at least once or twice a week. I'm guessing we spend at least £300 a month, maybe more like £400. It's one of my favourite things to do and we can afford it so I don't have any plans to change. I also enjoy cooking so cook from scratch most of the rest of the time.

lucysmam · 27/04/2019 09:43

Take away once a month, on payday usually. Spend about £20 ish.

Eat out very very rarely. I actually can't remember the last time. Maybe my birthday last year.

megletthesecond · 27/04/2019 09:45

Have never had a takeaway due to allergies.

Eat out a couple of times a month. Probably spend around £100 month. Me and 2 dc's.

Stormwhale · 27/04/2019 09:57

Takeaway maybe once a month, eat out 2 or three times a month.

isabellerossignol · 27/04/2019 09:57

Takeaways once a week. Eat out maybe once a month or every six weeks.

isabellerossignol · 27/04/2019 10:00

As for cost, I'd say we spend £70/80 a month on takeaways. Maybe the same on eating out? It would definitely be one of the first things we would cut out if we needed to save money.

Decormad38 · 27/04/2019 10:04

Takeaway once a month. Eat out maybe twice a month. Total possibly £150 a month.

Sweetdisposition91 · 27/04/2019 10:13

I should add that is just for myself, or if I’m treating my boyfriend! 🙈

Never have takeaways, eat out at least once or twice a week maybe more.

Oh the shame. Yes I have a fat ass.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 27/04/2019 10:43

Last month we spent just over £300 but it was a stressful month and was out of the ordinary. A normal month would probably be around £100 to £150 for me, DH and eldest DC. We've taken to ordering from a new takeaway that is amazing but is more expensive than our usual so going to have to cut back.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 27/04/2019 10:45

That was just takeaways, we eat out about once every 3 months, McDonald's probably 3 times a month with all the kids.

Greengreengrass19 · 27/04/2019 10:46

Twice a week we have takeaway atm. Trying to cut down to one. It used to be three or four so we are doing well. Sometimes we’ll eat out once instead.

Happyspud · 27/04/2019 10:47

Rarely because takeaways are without exception, rank.

We went for dinner a few weeks ago and with dinner in a nice but not amazing place, taxis and a few drinks after we spent £200. Childcare was even free. Bloody ridiculous waste of money.

ACPC · 27/04/2019 10:47

About £250 on average. Take away once a week family dinner out about twice a month. Lunch out with a friend maybe once a month. It's the first thing to go if money is tight though.

RosaWaiting · 27/04/2019 10:47

£200 a month?!

are you working really long hours though? I haven't done this because I could never have afforded it, but when I was working 2 jobs, my flatmate - who also worked very long hours - always wanted to get takeout.

woodcutbirds · 27/04/2019 10:49

About once a week. Sometimes only once a month but other times three times a week. Depends on circumstances. But we almost never buy ready meals or take outs. It's usually sitting down in a restaurant. About once every three months we'll buy in fish and chips or a takeaway curry.

Sculpin · 27/04/2019 10:51

We rarely have a takeaway - maybe two or three times a year.We eat out more often - around once a month.

Ikeameatballs · 27/04/2019 10:51

Takeaway once a month, lunch out twice a month. Prob adds up to £150/month.

We used to get pizza more often but now we use www.northerndoughco.com and I make it at home, everyone prefers it it to take out or any other frozen/bought pizza.

namechangedforanon · 27/04/2019 10:52

"Rarely because takeaways are without exception, rank"

Obviously you don't live in London 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

When I say takeout - I'm meaning Deliveroo from restaurants , not a kebab or pizza 🤣

BlueMerchant · 27/04/2019 10:52

Eat out about one a month- £45approx
Takeaway once a month-£20 approx
Somewhere like McDonald's twice a month £20approx.

Parker231 · 27/04/2019 10:54

Never have takeaways - don’t like them but out on average once during the week and always Sunday brunch at our local deli.
